1978 Porsche 911SC - Original Unrestored Car with 36,630 miles This is a great low mileage example of a first year 911SC Coupe. It has always been garaged and has only traveled 36,630 miles. Its totally original and it has had a recent $10,000 dollar engine out service to address chain tensioners and head studs that were weak in this model. Its original silver paint shows well and the interior is fantastic. It has the highly sought aftervelour inserts with silver striping and the seats are in great shape. It has been professionally detailed and is ready to use. If you have been looking for an SC coupe this one would be hard to beat. Hagertys Description: History of the 1978-1983 Porsche 911Porsche engineers don’t make mistakes very often but the U.S. spec 2.7 liter 911s built between 1975 and 1977 were plagued with engine problems when new. In 1978, Porsche put those problems behind them with the introduction of the brilliant 3.0 liter 911SC. Porsche now finally mated a body that was capable of lasting indefinitely with an engine that was capable of lasting nearly that long. Well maintained 911SCs are capable of 300,000 miles between rebuilds. Power was up too from the 2.7 liter 911 although not by an enormous amount and the SC was good for a 0-60 run of about 6.3 seconds. Leather, A/C power mirrors, and forged alloy wheels became all but standard. The last year of the car saw the addition of the first full convertible Porsche since 1965. It wasn’t quite yet the perfect 911—that would have to wait until the 3.2 liter Carrera—timing chain tensioners and exploding airboxes would continue to plague the 3.0 liter cars. By now though, enthusiast owners have updated these trouble spots on most cars and the 911SC remains an excellent choice for a first Porsche.1978 Porsche 911 SC 3.0 InfoBody Styles2dr Coupe2dr Targa Engine Types6-cyl. 2993cc/172hp FI6-cyl. 2994cc/180hp FI Additional InfoCurb Weight: 2315 lbs.Vehicle Length: 168.9 in.Wheel Base: 89.4 in.1978 Porsche 911 SC 3.0 2dr Coupe InfoNumber Produced5,178

Porsche 911 Carrera 4S named Motor Trend Best Driver's Car [w/video]

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Motor Trend has named the 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S its best driver's car for 2013. The annual
competition for the title included some of the best performance cars that have gone on sale in the past year. The new C4S follows the 2012 Best Driver's Car award winner, a two-wheel-drive Carrera S.
Determining the winner of the coveted title isn't easy. Each vehicle is pushed through Motor Trend's normal battery of instrumented tests. Editors then spend time with each car over a 500-mile tour of mixed conditions before a final batch of testing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, with pro racer Randy Pobst at the wheel.

Wingsuits are somehow involved in new season of 'Top Gear'

Mon, Jan 14 2019

It's a shame that Matt LeBlanc is leaving "Top Gear," but there's a bit of solace in the situation: There's still one more season of him as frontman. BBC just released the new trailer for series 26, and it shows LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid getting into all sorts of shenanigans around the globe. "Top Gear" announced LeBlanc's imminent departure back in May 2018, but he still had to finish one more season before leaving. Thus, the upcoming series will be his last, and it looks like he'll go out in a whirlwind of dust, bent metal, water spray and burnt rubber. The trailer shows everything expected from a season of the storied automotive show (well, everything except Hammond, May, and Clarkson, if you're one of those people). There will be precision driving, dubious stunts, name-calling and gobs of stunning videography. In the short one-minute clip, there are flashes of numerous attention-piquing vehicles. The new Bentley Continental GT, a Bentley Le Mans racer, Porsches, Ferraris, the Aston Martin Vantage, and the Mercedes-AMG GT all make appearances. And for some random fun, the boys are seen in wingsuits (doubtful it's actually them), and playing polo in some three-wheel rickshaws (before wrecking said rickshaws). We'll update with more information as soon as we know when the show will start. Sunday Drive: An automotive flavor for every taste

Sun, Feb 25 2018

Last week was flush with interesting new vehicle debuts, led by the new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. This crossover is entering straight into the heart of one of the world's most competitive automotive segments, and it's doing so with a fresh sense of style and a brace of new technologies. Our readers are clearly intrigued – the Santa Fe was the biggest news story of the last week on these online pages. It's fitting that a crossover generated a lot more interest than a traditional wagon, though we don't really have to be happy about it. Still, the completely new, fully redesigned Volvo V60 is worth taking another look at. First of all, it's pretty, in a traditionally Scandinavian way. Second, it's quick, with a 0-60 time of as little as 4.8 seconds. And finally, it's practical, with all kinds of room for cargo without the dynamic penalties of an unnecessary lift kit. Moving on from new vehicle debuts, we took another long look at the Honda Ridgeline. It's definitely a non-conformist pickup truck, based not on a body-on-frame platform but on a more carlike unibody design. That means it can't tow as much as some other trucks, but it also means the Ridgeline drives better than any of its more truckish competitors. It's the Swiss army knife of pickup trucks. Rounding out our coverage from last week are three sets of spy photos, each showing the interior of a hotly anticipated new model. One is a truck, one is a crossover, and the last is a sportscar. All of them are worth another look. As always, stay tuned to Autoblog this week for all the most important news in the automotive world. 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe unveiled 2019 Volvo V60 | Sleek, swift new twist on the Swedish wagon 2018 Honda Ridgeline | Pocketknife pickup is up for anything 2019 GMC Sierra interior looks just like the Silverado's 2019 Cadillac XT4 interior has actual buttons, no more touch-sensitive panel 2020 Porsche 911 992 spy shots show interior and manual transmission Cadillac GMC Honda Hyundai Porsche Volvo Truck Crossover Wagon Luxury Performance Sedan hyundai santa fe
