1977 Porsche 911 S on 2040-cars
Green Mountain Falls, Colorado, United States
I am offering a 1977 Porsche 911 S with a currently
non-running engine. As the second owner, I have driven this car for the last 15
years. Very recently, (May 2014), the oil pump ceased to function. As an
educated guess, the oil pressure relief valve probably failed. Of course, the
actual cause can only be verified by a teardown of the engine. The engine was
completely rebuilt before I bought the car in April 2000.
The car itself is in excellent mechanical and physical condition. It has never been in an accident and is completely rust free never having been out of Colorados very dry climate. It has been repainted ($5,000) in a Jaguar maroon red metallic color. Its appearance is flawless except for the inevitable small dings on the hood. It was always a daily driver but practically never driven in rain or snow and always garaged. Oil changes were always performed with synthetics. The clutch
assembly and the transmission (SWEPCO 201) are both in excellent shape. This makes it possible to put the car immediately
on the road with only an engine or long block swap. Included with car: - Original tool kit - Full size spare tire (instead of the inflatable one) - Several Porsche manuals (listed below) 1. Original Porsche Owners Manual 2. How to Rebuild and Modify Porsche 911 Engines 65 89 (Wayne R. Dempsey) 3. 101 Projects for Your 911 (Wayne R. Dempsey) 4. Porsche 911 SC Service Manual 78 83 (Bentley Publishers ) 5. Porsche 911 Automotive Repair Manual 65 83 (Haynes) 6. Porsche 911 Owners Workshop Manual 911 64 73 (Autobooks) 7. Top Gear brings together LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918
Mon, Jan 26 2015Earlier this month, Top Gear released a brief video of the comparison test between three hybrid hypercars we'd all been waiting for: the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder. The story was done by the print magazine and not by the television show, and the video they released was barely over half a minute long, reserving the full version for subscribers of the iPad edition. Now the British mag has put the full video on YouTube, and while it's still only a minute and a half long three times the length of the previous teaser Β it's packed with electrified exotic goodness. The test surely took some serious wrangling to put together, and though the metal (or carbon fiber, as the case may be) was apparently furnished mostly by private owners, to hear Top Gear tell it, the manufacturers Β Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche Β were eager and helpful in putting the showdown together. For the final conclusions, we're afraid you'll still have to buy the magazine, but for a rare chance to watch all these three world-beaters on the same road at the same time, you'll want to scope out this latest video clip. Porsche close to fix for 911 GT3 engine fires
Sun, 16 Mar 2014It looks like 2014 Porsche 911 GT3 drivers might actually get to drive their cars again soon. Reports of fires affecting the track-ready Germans first began about a month ago. Then, a few days later, the automaker confirmed two of the five alleged blazes and said owners shouldn't drive their cars until further notice. Porsche then went so far as to offer to pick up the GT3s and transport them to the nearest dealer until the problem was identified and a fix was found. Finally, there appears to be a repair.
"We know the reason and the problem-solving measures. We're testing them," said Porsche CEO Matthias Müller to Bloomberg. The technical fix will be released to owners shortly.
The recall affects all 785 GT3s that have been sold so far, but there have been no reported injuries caused by the fires. When it first announced the safety campaign, Porsche said: "Internal studies to determine the cause of the engine damage have not been completed yet."
2015 Porsche Panamera Exclusive Series is a seriously quick way to spend $260k
Wed, 19 Nov 2014Porsche is usually associated with being a sports car brand, but with vehicles like the Cayenne and Panamera it takes a step into the world of luxury against firmly established players like Mercedes-Benz. One way for the company to poke its head above the high-class fray is by taking things further, and in the case of the Panamera Exclusive Series at the Los Angeles Auto Show, it means pushing grandeur to extreme levels.
Coming in at an absolutely eye-watering $263,900, plus $995 destination, the Panamera Exclusive starts its life as the already sumptuous Panamera Turbo S Executive with a 4.8-liter, twin-turbo V8 making 570 horsepower on an extended wheelbase. To help justify the extra $63,000 for the Exclusive, though, the model gets 20-inch black Sport Classic wheels and an interior in swaddled in Nappa leather with dark walnut and piano black trim. Rear passengers also get 10.1-inch touchscreens mounted on the back of the front seats. A set of fitted Poltrana Frau leather luggage is included with each one, as well.
The luxurious sedan earns it Exclusive moniker because just 100 of them are being made worldwide. Scroll down to read about Porsche's ultimate limousine.
