Welcome to my auction. This is my personal vehicle and it's registered in my name. This '74 Coupe is in spectacular condition throughout. It comes with complete service records from 1974 to date, with no gaps in the history. Only one owner from 1980 until 2012. It has had a $20000 mechanical restoration approx 3000 miles ago (all invoices available) and was subject to a professional repaint in the last couple of years, including new seals, gaskets and trim (approx $10000 spent). You will not find a nicer example. Here are the details:
1974 911 standard coupe with no sunroof
Bought new from Rusnak Porsche in Pasadena, CA (still in business today)
No accidents and perfect panel gaps
Pristine Signal Orange paint with a consistant and deep shine throughout
All trim and seals are in excellent condition
Underside of vehicle is completely dry and solid
Genuine Fusch wheels with very recent matching tires
Recent brakes
Drives beautifully after a complete engine teardown/rebuild and many other mechanical components replaced at the same time. No smoke, even when cold starting.
There really are no serious negatives with this 911. The fuel gauge works, but is not accurate, the left headlight & high beam is erratic and the passenger window is stiff going up and down. That's about it.
Last weekend my friend and I drove the car for hours non-stop. Some of the photos are taken from Malibu, up in the Santa Monica Mountains. The car is wonderful to drive on those roads, pulling relentlessly through all the gears. Shortly afterwards we stopped for lunch at Duke's on Pacific Coast Highway (very busy on a sunny Saturday afternoon) and the car attracted quite a crowd. When we came out from lunch, the valet had parked it right outside the main entrance. Not the new Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, Range Rover's or Bentley's, but my little old orange car! Those other $250000 cars are a dime a dozen in this part of the world!
This car is one of a kind. I'm not desperate to sell, so will not entertain silly offers. The reason for selling is that my wife and I are buying a house this summer, so I have to start getting my funds in order, thus selling this and my old Land Rover Defender. I'm happy to answer any questions and to show the vehicle to serious buyers. I work long hours, so please, serious buyers only please. Best of luck to all you air-cooled enthusiasts!

Porsche Cayenne GTS, base models revealed ahead of LA
Wed, 05 Nov 2014Porsche unveiled a slew of refreshed Cayennes just a few months ago, but the base model (right) and high-performance GTS trim (above) were conspicuously absent from that list. There's no more reason to wonder about them, though, because the German brand plans to unveil both at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show on November 19.
Sitting below the Turbo in the lineup, the latest GTS still offers plenty of performance. It drops the previous version's naturally aspirated V8 in favor of a tuned version of the twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 from the Cayenne S for some added oomph. The tweaks bring power up to 440 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque, which is enough to rocket the model to 62 miles per hour in an estimated 5.2 seconds. The bump also equates to 20 hp and 39 lb-ft more than the current S and more importantly 20 hp and 62 lb-ft more than the previous GTS, according to Porsche.
In addition to the extra muscle, Porsche also decks the GTS out with some added features. It comes with a standard sport exhaust and Porsche Active Suspension Management system with an air suspension lets the chassis sit about three-quarters of an inch lower (20 millimeters). To bring things to a halt, the high-performance models also takes its brakes from the Turbo model.
Porsche creates 'symphony' with seven generations of 911
Wed, 02 Oct 2013At Porsche, things are getting a bit wild on the 50th anniversary year of the 911. To celebrate it (again) in yet another inventive way, the automaker has called on the musical talents of seven generations of the rear-engine sports car (please suspend your disbelief, at least for the length of the video, and assume that generation two started in 1974) to perform a song that has eight notes. We're wondering which 911 is pulling double duty...
But before the Porsches are lined up for the short recital, the drivers let loose and drift them inside a hangar. Watch the video below, and tell us in comments which was more impressive: the song or the drifting.
2014 Porsche Panamera Diesel is something to torque about
Tue, 10 Sep 2013Porsche has been in the business of slaying sacred cows for the better part of a decade, from venturing into the SUV space with the Cayenne to the four-door realm with its Panamera hatchback. And if those vehicles didn't leave brand purists apoplectic enough, Porsche has been adding diesel and hybrid power to its portfolio, thought to this point, neither alt-fuel motivator has made its way into the brand's sports car lineup.
Today's Frankfurt Motor Show effectively marks the second-generation of diesel power in the Panamera, and this updated 3.0-liter V6 features 300 horsepower (50 ponies more than last year) and a whopping 479 pound-feet of torque, available from 2,500 rpm. That power is achieved with a new higher-pressure, water-cooled turbo and redesigned engine internals that include a new crankshaft and pistons. The newfound increase is said to raise top speed to 161 miles per hour from 152, and drop the car's 0-62 mph time from 6.8 seconds down to 6.0. It also figures to be a better handler, with a new torque-vectoring rear differential borrowed from its gas-powered brethren and a reworked transmission for crisper shifts. The suspension has also been retuned, along with the updated 2014 visuals first revealed at April's Shanghai Motor Show.
No word yet on the North American sales prospects of this diesel Panamera, but we imagine that depends in part on how well the Cayenne diesel is selling.
