Beautifully restored 1969 911T Targa finished in the original Irish Green with Black leatherette interior. This matching number car was in original non-restored condition when we purchased it in Dec, 2013, with original rust free floors. We performed a ground up nut and bolt restoration to original specifications. BODY: The original body was in excellent condition with minor rust on the rocker panels, and superficial rust on the trunk floor cover. The entire body and underside were stripped to bare metal. Suspension, engine, hydraulics, interior, glass, chrome and trans axel were removed. The rocker panels were replaced with new Porsche rockers. The car was repainted using the original color Irish Green produced by the original manufacturer for Porsche, Glazurit paint. The entire exterior was painted in Glazurit base coat clear coat. The underside was stripped to bare metal and recoated with the proper gray textured coating as used originally by Porsche . The underside was then painted using the original color Glazurit urethane paint with a semi gloss finish. The body, fit, finish and details are perfection. MECHANICAL: The car had sat without running for 20 years. We know that any engines that sit without running for an extended period time need to be rebuilt. We performed a complete restoration and rebuilding of the entire mechanical system. Engine, transmission, hydraulics, fuel system and brakes were professionally rebuilt. Weber carbs were rebuilt and refinished to the correct finish. Dealer installed AC car. INTERIOR: We restored all aspects of the interior to original condition, using a Porsche certified facility in Long Island, N.Y. The seats were disassembled stripped and rebuilt to original specs. Targa top was reconditioned and rebuilt to like new standards. New dash top installed, original Porsche part. All new correct German rugs and textiles used in the correct restoration of the interior. TRIM: We restored the trim on the car using a combination of cleaning original, replacing and re-plating the original factory S trim. All window seals and targa seals have been professionally replaced. The trunk trim has been correctly reconditioned. This is an exceptional restored car built to the highest standards

The pre-race and first in-race report from Le Mans

The 2013, 90th anniversary edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans has begun, tragedy marking the opening laps with the death of Allan Simonsen. We're at the track now as a guest of Audi and plan to stay through the evening, and even we haven't been able to find out what caused the accident - the only video is from just after the incident, and beyond the statement from ACO there's been no more news. The Aston Martin in the LM GTE Am class and its all-Danish drivers had taken pole in its class and was one of the favorites to win.
The pre-race report will come first, and even thought we can't spoil the race because we're only five hours into it at the time of writing, we'll put all of the news at the end in case you don't even want the updates.

Porsche 918 Spyder roars electric through London

The Porsche 918 Spyder can be an object of lust for anyone who appreciates the finer things in the automotive world, but for us greenies with penchant for speed, the car is an icon. This gorgeous, all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid offers 887 horsepower and 940 pound-feet of torque, can do 0-60 in just 2.5 seconds and is capable of 214 miles per hour. It lapped the Nurburgring in a record 6:57. Still, it is capable of near-silent, relaxed cruising through one of Europe's busiest cities. In a new video from Porsche, chief driving instructor Gordon Robertson takes the 918 to London and does just that. While driving in E-Power mode, he describes some of the things that make the car special, as well as how the technology has developed through the 911 GT3 R Hybrid and the 919 LMP1 car to eventually be passed onto the Panamera S E-Hybrid. It's great to see, for the first time, the 918 Spyder driving alongside London's black cabs and double-decker buses. The rubbernecking from pedestrians is noticeable and completely understandable. I'm sure we'd all love to see this car come silently sneaking down our own city streets, but until Porsche makes that happen, you'll just have to enjoy the video below. Porsche 911 GT3 Cup ANDIAL Edition First Drive

There is only one Porsche 911 GT3 Cup ANDIAL Edition on the planet, and its owner is standing patiently in the hot pits at Oklahoma's Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, watching attentively as his prized possession circles the challenging road course at speed. I'm the lucky soul strapped firmly in the cockpit of the white-and-blue racecar. The tight carbon-fiber seat is cutting into my hips, the racket from the gearbox is making me deaf and a river of sweat is flowing off the tip my nose – blame the high ambient temperatures combined with the stress of driving someone else's expensive machine on an utterly unfamiliar circuit. But don't expect me to complain, gripe or come into the pits early, as I'm having the time of my life – I've eagerly waited nearly half-a-year for this moment, and short of me blacking out, there's no way I'm cutting it short. It's been said that ANDIAL-prepared cars and engines have claimed victories on every major racetrack in this country. Belting into the driver's seat of an ANDIAL-prepared Porsche fulfills a personal dream that started decades earlier when I thumbtacked a picture of a white Porsche 935 on my dorm room wall, its colorful bodywork stenciled with "ANDIAL" along the bottom of the driver's door. In the 1980s, the name of the privately held racing company was synonymous with Porsche and victory – it's been said that ANDIAL-prepared cars and engines have claimed victories on every major racetrack in this country. As its founders retired and the company focused on smaller specialty projects, ANDIAL's business model changed, but its relationship with Porsche remained strong. In early 2013, it was announced that the Porsche Motorsports North America, Inc. (PMNA) had purchased the brand – yet there was still no word as to how the famed ANDIAL name, an anagram made from the names of the founding members – the late Arnold Wagner (AN), Dieter Inzenhofer (DI) and former PMNA president and current consultant Alwin Springer (AL) would be used. Some answers emerged in February of this year when I received a phone call from Porsche. The company offered to have me to visit ANDIAL's shop in Southern California, which is now operating entirely under the direction of PMNA. Entering one of the shop's bays, I found myself face-to-face with a lightly used 997 GT3 Cup racecar. The vehicle was in the early stages of a complete teardown and rebuild – in preparation for its rollout in traditional red, white and blue ANDIAL livery.
