1968 Porsche 911 L Targa
Classic Short Wheel Base Porsche
We recently found this car from its hiding place in Eastern Oregon. It had been sitting for many years. It was a
Special order Black (95043-L) car from the factory. Over its lifetime it was painted several colors, at least they
were good ones like Lime Green and Tangerine, and it’s current color Pearl.
1968 was a very unique year in Porsche history. It was the last of the SWB (Short Wheel Base) cars and was only
offered as two models in the United States, the Normal and L model. The Normal was the base model with 110 hp and
the L or “Lux” was the same as the European S model except with US emissions and 130hp, along with the S vented
brakes. The model designation also included the S trim interior package with the elephant skin pattern dash and
trim panels.
This car is an excellent restoration candidate because of the low production numbers of the L and Targa models.
This car has a 2.2 engine form a 71 in it according to the motor numbers. It does have a 5-speed 901 transmission.
It is a solid car, but will need everything gone through. We were able to start it up and get it running, but did
not drive the car as the motor was a bit noisy. The seats have been updated from a newer G series car. The alloy
Fuchs wheels are correct for its vintage. It also has correct Weber carburetors on it.
We have taken many detailed photos of the cars outside, inside and underneath. We do our best to represent the car
as it is.

Porsche offers design walkthrough of Panamera Sport Turismo

The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo was arguably the best concept car of 2012, and Porsche has been building upon that momentum by teasing us with videos of its first-ever station wagon design. After showing us some driving shots of the Sport Turismo, Porsche released a more in-depth and behind-the-scenes look at what it took to take the Panamera shooting brake from a full-scale clay model to the final product we saw on stage at the Paris Motor Show. In the video, Michael Mauer, Porsche style director, and Mitja Borkert, general manager advanced design style, both give a little insight about what went into creating the Sport Turismo Concept.
More than just a station wagon version of the Panamera, the Sport Turismo has a totally distinctive look nose to tail. Some of the key elements the designers touch on in the video include the Porsche-signature raised front fenders, the wide rear shoulders, the front wing inspired by the 918 Spyder, and even some of the car's unique touches, including the headlights and the three-dimensional "Porsche" lettering across the liftgate made from glass. One of the more exciting aspects of the concept - which is sadly just glossed over in the video - is the rear liftgate spoiler that features "variable aerodynamics" that sounds like it acts similar to the retractable spoiler on the current Panamera.

Porsche already considering even more hardcore Cayman GT4 RS?

We're not sure what kind of person would look at the new Porsche Cayman GT4 and say "that's not enough," but we're sure they're out there. And to satisfy just such a customer, Porsche could very well offer a GT4 RS version in the future. "This is just the beginning of the era. I would be interested in doing a Cayman GT4 RS version, but at the moment we didn't even talk about such a thing. If the customers call for something like this we could think about it." These are the words of Andreas Preuninger, speaking with Evo at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show this week. As head of Porsche's GT line, Preuninger and his team are responsible for creating hardcore track models like the 911 GT3, the new 911 GT3 RS and – for the first time Â– the new Cayman GT4. Clearly buoyed by the early success of the GT4, Prenuninger is already looking towards the next step. Considering that the existing model already packs a 3.8-liter flat six with 385 horsepower and the manual transmissions so many GT3 fans miss, we're not sure how much more they could get out of the Cayman Â– but we'll sure enjoy watching them try.
