Long time ownership, first time on the market for over 30 years, matching numbers with C of A.
Excellent above average 356, with no accidents, rust or stories.
Engine just gone through by Porsche main dealer with receipts, showing 67,349 miles, believed genuine.
Interior has been completely refurbished many years ago, with original materials, including headliner, carpets, seats, door panel, and is still untouched and in superb condition.
The paint is champagne yellow/previously red, and is in excellent shape, there are no signs of the color change, see picture of dash areas, and all rubbers were replaced at the time, this was done some 20 years ago, and has a wonderful depth and luster.
There are  2 or 3 small marks on the body, see pictures, none of which are visible to the casual eye.
Other than that the car is free form blemishes, and the body, under the doors etc. are all rust free.
The underside of the car is excellent, the sills, jacking points, outriggers, longitudinals, etc. are all original to the car,
other than part of the front floor pan which have been professionally replaced, see pics, there have been no other repairs.
Mechanically the car is a joy to drive, starts first time, whilst still retaining it's 6 volt configuration, the 1600S engine revs freely and pulls strongly.
Brakes and steering are all up to parr and function beautifully.
If you are looking for an original, unmolested 356 1600S, at an affordable price, then this is it.
The car comes with matching spare wheel, owner's manuals, original ruby red pouch, and some tools.
Unlike other auctions with unrealistic reserves, this is a true No Reserve Auctionand will sell to the highest bidder.
So please read the description, look at all the pictures, then ask all questions prior to bidding, as you are bidding to buy,
and please arrange for any and all inspections to be carried out in a timely fashion, and not wait till the end of the auction,
I live 3 miles away from a Porsche Main Dealer, so have no problems taking it there for a PPI.

Porsche Cayenne diesel V8 may not be long for this world

Fri, Jan 23 2015

Goodbye, Porsche Cayenne V8 Diesel. We hardly knew ye. Nor did the Europeans, apparently. Porsche's V8 oil burner is still on the European model list for the Cayenne SUV, but the mill won't go through the likely pricey process of being updated to adhere to new and stricter European emissions standards, Just-Auto says. A Porsche spokesman confirmed to the publication that it's a fairly complicated process to update the diesel V8 to be so-called "Euro-6 compliant." With Cayenne diesels selling in relatively low volumes anyways, the German automaker might just dump the V8 diesel altogether, as it'd be quite cost-ineffective to make the necessary upgrades. The V8 diesel was a 4.1-liter engine that delivered 385 horsepower in addition to what sounds like a little too much exhaust for European clean-air regulators. While that's a pretty powerful profile, the most recent gas-powered V8 for the Cayenne delivers about 570 horsepower, so the diesel engine won't likely be missed by European auto enthusiasts. Besides, there's still the V6 diesel that's also sold in the US. That's a 4,800-pound beast that moves from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about seven seconds and gets a relatively (for diesels) modest 20 miles per gallon city. For those who are curious, Autoblog's First Drive review of that model can be found here.

Porsche Cayman S and Caterham 7 go head to head on the drag strip

Fri, 27 Jun 2014

We recently saw the standard Porsche Cayman go up against a Subaru WRX STI in a one-mile drag race with surprising results. Apparently, Evo had a similar idea of evaluating the Cayman's quickness. However, it opted for the more powerful S model and chose a flyweight Caterham Roadsport 140 as the challenger. Will the results of this battle be as close at the end of the kilometer-long (0.62-mile) drag?
Neither of these are cars you'd usually associate with drag racing, but they are nearly evenly matched. Evo selected them based on power-to-weight ratio, with the Caterham offering a scant 140 horsepower in a lithe 1,213-pound package. The Porsche is a quite svelte 2,910 pounds but has 325 hp to haul it around.
Of course, power-to-weight ratio isn't everything. There are a ton of other variables like aerodynamics and gearing that play a huge role, as well. Can the little Caterham's weight advantage overcome the better aero and additional power of the Porsche? Scroll down watch the video and find out.

Porsche-Piech buy 10% stake in VW's holding company

Tue, 18 Jun 2013

In August, 2009, as the scuttled merger of Porsche and Volkswagen had gone bad and Porsche was backed up against the ropes, Porsche Automobil Holding SE (PAHSE) relinquished a ten-percent stake in itself to Qatar Holdings as well as options it held on 17 percent of VW shares. The sale meant that, for the first time since the founding of the company 61 years before, an entity outside the Porsche and Piech families had a say in the running of PAHSE.
Buying that ten-percent stake back returns full ownership to the two families, the holding company's sole possession being ownership of 50.7 percent of VW's common shares. The price paid wasn't disclosed, but at market rates the purchase would be worth close to $1.25 billion. Qatar intends to hold onto the 17-percent stake it has in Volkswagen.
