Up for sale is my 1965 C Sunroof Coupe, with electric sunroof, original California car, registration shows the car was originally sold and tagged in 1965 in California. The last production year of the 356, best of the 356s with disc brakes and better driveability than earlier models, this car having the hard to find electric sunroof option. Registration shows car resided in Los Angeles until just recently. Super solid pans, the pans are original to the car and look good with no rust or perforations. All jack points are solid with no rust as well and longitudinals are excellent. Battery box has one slit about 7 inches long but otherwise is excellent. Doors close well with the characteristic Porsche "thunk" and hood and engine lid close neatly and evenly as well. Electric sunroof opens and closes with factory mounted switch under left side of dash. The sunroof appears as though it could use a little adjustment judging from the paint scraped off on top of the sunroof but it does open and close. Original color was dolphin grey as can be seen on the underside of the doors. Car was repainted many years ago metallic blue. Paint has scratches but has a nice shine to it. Can be driven as it is until restoration is undertaken to return the car to its original color, if so desired. Interior is original, original carpeting, original seats and headliner. All showing some wear but nice to find one with the original interior as it came from the factory. Speedometer, odometer, tachometer and gas gauge and oil pressure light all work. Engine runs very well and "takes the gas". This is a non-numbers matching car and the engine has a third piece that is not stamped. The third piece of the engine is blank. Clutch and transmission are fine. All new shift bushings were installed and the car shifts through all 4 forward gears well and cleanly as does reverse. All 4 brake calipers were removed from the car, were then totally disassembled and cleaned with solvent and brake cleaner and high pressure air. Then they were media blasted and painted high temperature silver. Each caliper was then rebuilt with new seals and dust covers and then installed. New rubber brake lines were installed on each wheel. The car stops evenly and on a "dime". Since the car sat for so many years (last registration is 1976), the gas tank was not usable since the gasoline had turned to varnish. A new tank was ordered from Stoddards Porsche parts and installed along with a new fuel shutoff valve. Also new correct rubber fuel lines were installed. The engine runs without hesitation and there is no worries that sediment or dirt will get into the fuel system of the car. With a quick turn of the ignition switch the car starts right up and you are ready to drive off almost immediately. Here is a link to over 150 pictures of the car: Here are some videos of the car: with the engine running and being revved: http://youtu.be/injNWpX1a7k some short test drives: Title in hand, we are a licensed and bonded and insured auto dealer in North Carolina. Watch Jay Leno's Garage work on a Porsche 911 and others
Mon, Apr 18 2016Jay Leno doesn't just own a bunch of cars – he restores them. (Or has people who restores them, at any rate.) For this latest video, he's showing us some of the projects he and his team are currently working on. The tour-de-garage starts with a 1953 Cunningham that had been in storage since '68, complete with a copper grille ready for plating and a 331 Hemi V8. Jay says that every one of the cars that Briggs Cunningham made is still on the road – but that's just one of the dozen or so projects Jay and company are working on. There's a suitably brown '71 Porsche 911 T in near-original condition having sat untouched parked underground in Beverly Hills for decades, and a '58 Chrysler Imperial convertible once driven by Clark Gable and Frank Sinatra, and now getting a brake upgrade. There's a Volvo 122 wagon that's been stripped down, media-blasted, and powder-coated, a thousand-horsepower Rolls-Royce, a 1960 Nash Metropolitan, a supercharged Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman, and a 1914 Detroit Electric. And those are just the four-wheeled automobiles. Over in the two-wheeler section there's a pair of Brough Superiors, a BSA, an Indian, and a custom racing sidecar that Jay's mechanic Bernard is working on. In short, Jay Leno's Garage isn't just one where vehicles are kept – it's one where vehicles are brought back to life. Watch a Porsche 918 Spyder being built by hand
Sat, Jan 3 2015No music track, no dialogue, no voiceover, just a group of women and men in a very clean room in Zuffenhausen assembling the Porsche 918 Spyder. It's the antidote to the adrenaline that the open-topped hybrid coupe encourages in most enthusiast bloodstreams, but this nearly-11-minute video is the most captivating B-roll we've seen in a while. From hand-sewn leather to hand-wrapped trim, monococques being wheeled about, the copious use of shims and the rear brace being fitted over the engine, plus the Christmas-like joy of opening a box of body panels, it's all in there. You can't buy a new one anymore, but you can see how they're built for those who did buy them in the video above. 2015 Porsche Macan S
Thu, 31 Jul 2014I'd be willing to bet that 99 percent of all Porsche Macan owners will never take their vehicle on a track or see any more off-roading than a dirt path to a summer cottage, yet I maintain that there is no better venue to explore the absolute outer limits of the automaker's newest small family transport than on a racing circuit and an off-road course. It's testing at each extreme of the vehicle's operating envelope, with both challenges requiring very different capabilities. With that in mind, and looking forward to dirty floor mats and corded tires, I jumped at the opportunity from Porsche to wring out its new Macan S at Willow Springs International Raceway, located in Southern California's high desert.
The range-topping Macan Turbo (base price $72,300 plus $995 destination), with its 400 horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6 gets most of the glory these days. But many, including myself, would argue that its slightly less powerful sibling, the Macan S, is actually the pick of the new litter. Despite having 60 fewer horses under the hood and giving up six-tenths of a second in the sprint to 60 miles per hour, it costs a massive $22,400 less - money better spent on equipment that improves the crossover's ride comfort and capability, or perhaps a well-used Boxster for weekends.
Despite a reasonably attractive starting price of $49,900 (plus destination), very few Porsche buyers will leave the showroom with a base model. My Dark Blue Metallic Macan S tester was equipped with a slew of mechanical upgrades, including air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), Sport Chrono Package and 21-inch 911 Turbo Design wheels. A Premium Package and a few other miscellaneous options bloated its price to $69,870. That's a very steep price for the premium compact crossover segment, but it's still less than a base Macan Turbo.
