Porsche 356b on 2040-cars
Simi Valley, California, United States
1963 Porsche 356B, matching numbers, runs, drives, and stops great. Bought from a guy that lived in Arizona and owned it 40 years, he restored it in 1974, painted it blue and put a blue interior in it, he told me the engine was a basket case and he rebuilt it with oem parts, at that time there was 28000 miles on speedo, so theres about 5k on motor, and the way it runs, drives, and sounds it makes sense. Have no proof of orginal mileage, could be 33k or 133k. i bought the car to fully restore, but with kid in college out of state, just dont have the funds. When i bought the car i ordered a C.O.A. from porsche, so it confirms the numbers matching. Car should be ivory/ 6204 white which is the color of dash, interior should be brown leather/H. eng # 609731, trans # 59700 (741/2A). car vin# is 212230. All lights, running lights, turn signal, horn tac, speedo work, the clock is not working, and the orginal blapunkt radio lights up when turned on but have no speakers so cant confirm its operational. The floors have been fiberglassed, on visual theres only a couple of spots that had small rust , nothing on vertical or longitude areas. so replacement floor panels will be easy fix. Body on car is straight, no dents, all body lines are straight and very nice. the paint is over 40 years old, and looks better in pics than it is. No carpet in car, does have orginal rubber mats. Mechanically the car is a great driver, will be an easy restoration project. please call bob with questions, 805 4056972

Porsche planning Cayman GT4, 700-hp Turbo S e-Hybrids
Fri, May 9 2014The old wisdom when it came to the Porsche lineup was that the Boxster and Cayman needed to be kept in line so as not to encroach on even the lower end of the 911 range. But with the latest versions of the compact roadster and coupe, that logic has gone out the window. Especially with the introduction of the latest GTS models (pictured above). But that's not the end of the story. According to Motor Trend, Porsche is working on an even more powerful version of the Cayman that could carry the GT4 badge, positioning itself along the same lines as the 911 GT3 and GT2 – only, you know, smaller. Although our sources at Porsche would, predictably, neither confirm nor deny the report, MT has it that power could come from either a turbo-four or a more powerful flat-six, mated to the beefed-up DCT from the latest 911 GT3. A similar version of the Boxster could bring back the RS Spyder designation. That's not all Porsche is said to have in store, though. Based on the engineering that went into the 918 Spyder, Porsche could roll out a new range-topping model for the 911, Panamera and maybe even the Cayenne, packing a version of the 918's PHEV powertrain. Slotting in above the existing Turbo S variants of each model line, the new flagship models could pack 700 horsepower or more and be designated e-Hybrid in similar fashion as the 918.

Porsche Cayman GT4 looks sexy, rapid in the nude
Mon, Jan 5 2015Porsche doesn't officially have a name for its more hardcore version of the Cayman, yet. The speculation is that the coupe is called the GT4 as a little brother to the 911 GT3. However, the German sports car maker apparently is not interested in keeping the model's looks much of a secret because these latest shots show it without a hint of camouflage to speak of. The GT4 reportedly takes the GT3's ethos of more power, less weight and stickier-than-glue handling and brings it all to the Cayman. As these photos show, there's a much lower air dam up front with a cooling vent at the tip of the hood. Larger wheels are another obvious addition and are likely shod with some very sticky rubber. At the back, there's a double spoiler combining a wing and a ducktail. The power and gearbox for the GT4 remains a mystery, though. The rumor is that it uses a tuned version of the 3.4-liter flat-six in the Cayman S and GTS to make between 370 and 400 horsepower. A similar overhaul of the Boxster might be on the way, as well. A version of the convertible wearing some of the Cayman GT4's goodies was recently spotted testing. That one even had a manual transmission to make the prospects behind the wheel even more exciting.
