Porsche 1963 356b / Original Paint & Ca Black Plates / Cert From Porsche / Coupe on 2040-cars
Winterville, North Carolina, United States
A restorer’s dream come true. A vintage, non-operational 1963 Porsche 356B. Have a close look at the photos. The photos say more about the excellent original condition of the car than I could. This car is a real treasure! IF YOU WANT MORE PHOTOS, PLEASE ASK. I HAVE DOZENS MORE.
Here are the highlights, and if you want more info, please read the entire description and look at the photos. 1. California car 2. Original black California plates 3. Always garaged 4. Second owner 5. No accidents 6. Original factory paint 7. Original interiors 8. Clear Title 9. Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche FULL DESCRIPTION This Porsche was originally purchased in California and remained there its entire life until a few years ago when it was moved to North Carolina. It has always been garaged mostly under a car cover and has never been left outside. My father was the second owner of the car. There has only been one prior family that owned it, and they purchased it new. The car has never been in any accident or fender bender, and it is still in the original factory paint and has completely original factory interiors (upholstery, carpets, etc.). There are pads down over the front carpets to keep them clean. The entire interior of the car is original, and there have been no modifications whatsoever aside from the addition of seat belts in the front to comply with California law. The car still has the original black-and-yellow California plates, and the title is clear. The car has not run since about 1982. Although the car does not run, it should be an easy fix for someone who wants a restoration project. While photographing the car for this auction, I tried to back it out of the storage unit to get additional photos, but the car does not roll. Not sure why. The original rearview mirror was replaced at some point, but I still have the original factory-installed one that came with the car if you want to replace the newer one. The gas tank has been removed but is still present. It does have a small easily fixable pinhole leak. Comes with a recent Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche USA. Also included in the auction are the following items: Original can of touch-up paint (which is still liquid) Original maintenance records from September, 1976, through March, 1980 Headlight screen covers to prevent damage from road debris Lots of spare parts Receipts for many parts purchased over thirty years ago See photos for more items. Of course, if you have any questions or need a photo of a particular spot on the car, let me know. Payment: A $1,000 non-refundable deposit is required within 24 hours of the auction’s end. The balance can be paid by cash, certified check, or wire transfer. The car is sold “as is, where is” with no warranties or guarantees of any type either expressed or implied. On Jul-13-14 at 18:23:50 PDT, seller added the following information: This car is for sale locally. |

2014 Porsche 911 GT3 [w/video]
Thu, 01 Aug 2013The Bearable Lightness Of Being
Start with a standard Porsche 911 Carrera and its 350-horsepower, 3.6-liter flat six-cylinder engine. Bore a crepe-thin slice of aluminum from each cylinder to get to 3.8 liters, add a wider track out back and two extra exhaust pipes and voila, you can append an S to the Carrera's name. Hang two sets of wet, multi-disc clutches along its spine and you can make that a 4, or a 4S. Bolt on two forced-induction compressors and piping, add two fender vents and comically wide rear tires and you've redeemed your ticket to a Turbo. Increase the boost pressure and swell the corral to 560 horses and you have the Turbo S, which is the Virginia Slims of the 911 line-up because it's come a long way, baby.
Or you can go in a different direction. At that second stop, grab the 3.8-liter and cart it over to the engineers at Porsche's development center in Weissach, Germany. If racing were meat, they would be among the alpha carnivores. The baseboards in their homes are probably painted with miniature billboards for motor oil and vintage cigarettes along the straights, red-and-white stripes around every corner.
Genesis cars win accolades, offer value — so why are sales so bad?
Tue, Jul 31 2018My high-school buddy Brent Cormier was so smitten with the Genesis G80 when he saw it at an event I hosted at SXSW in 2016 he bought a used 2013 Hyundai Genesis a short time later and fell in love with the car. "It surpasses my every expectation," said Cormier, a self-described "renaissance man" who owns and runs a real estate agency with his wife Laura, is a food service executive chef and part owner of Austin-based Thin the Herd Guitars. "I was locked into Mercedes and Audi for 10 years," he added. "And felt trapped in an endless pit of maintenance costs." After owning the Genesis over the past two years — including using it as an Uber and Lyft driver to earn extra cash — Cormier learned what some frugal luxury sedan buyers and a handful of car reviewers have discovered: Genesis offers great bang for the buck compared to other premium brands and can compete with the best in terms of performance, features and comfort. Hyundai's luxury brand also earned a prominent third-party endorsement last week when for the first time Genesis topped J.D. Power's 2018 APEAL study, surpassing German luxury-performance icon Porsche. The APEAL study (which stands for Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout) "measures owners' emotional attachment and level of excitement across 77 attributes," ranging from performance to comfort, and asks nearly 68,000 owners of new 2018 models to score vehicles on a 1,000-point scale. In its second year ranked as a stand-alone brand, Genesis earned an APEAL score that bumped it up 15 points to 884 and helped push it past Porsche — and past BMW, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volvo, Cadillac, Land Rover and Lexus, in order of ranking. Last month, Genesis also topped J.D. Power's Initial Quality Survey (IQS) for the first time this year. And both its models were awarded Top Safety Pick Plus ratings by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, among 11 Plus ratings in all for Korean vehicles. Despite high J.D. Power rankings and great reviews, Genesis U.S. sales were off 50 percent for the first six months of 2018 compared to 2017, and in June Genesis sold only 796 vehicles — the first time U.S. numbers dropped below 1,000 in a month. Part of Genesis's APEAL and IQS success can be attributed to its small product lineup: just two models, the G80 and G90 sedans, with a third, the 2019 G70, launching later this year. And while those numbers may help in J.D.
Porsche LMP1 to use 4-cyl hybrid powertrain [w/poll]
Wed, 11 Dec 2013With the Formula One season - and indeed his entire F1 career - now behind him, Mark Webber took advantage of his early release from Red Bull Racing to try out the new LMP1 which Porsche is developing, undertaking the final test session of 2013 before Porsche throws it head first into the FIA World Endurance Championship next April. The session - which followed previous tests at Magny-Cours, Monza, Paul Ricard and the Eurospeedway at Lausitz - was held at the Algarve circuit in Portimão, Portgual, in collaboration with Michelin, which is developing the tires for the car. But that's hardly the news here.
No, the news is the first confirmation we've seen on the type of powertrain Porsche has developed for its new Le Mans prototype: a gasoline-burning four-cylinder engine with direct injection and two energy recovery systems. This contrasts sharply with the V6 turbodiesel and single electric motor used by Audi in the R18 e-tron Quattro (or at least the outgoing version) or the naturally-aspirated V8 and single electric motor found in the Toyota TS030. Flexibility in the rules set down by the FIA and ACO give the manufacturers that kind of latitude, prompting F1 teams like Ferrari and Renault to consider developing their new engines for Le Mans prototypes as well.
At this point Porsche isn't saying how large its four-cylinder engine is or how much power it will produce. But it'll be interesting, to say the least, to see how it fares against the Audi and Toyota in next year's championship and at Le Mans when it'll be piloted by Webber, former Lola LMP1 driver Neel Jani and Audi's own 2011 Le Mans-winning pair of Romain Dumas and Timo Bernhard.
