 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster

Here is an absolutely beautiful 1957 Porsche 356 Speedster replica.  This car has the very classy Fjord Green exterior with the black interior.  Powerful 1776cc Engine with Dual Weber Carburetors, 4 Speed Transmission, MSD Coil, Lightened Flywheel, Electronic Ignition, Hydraulic Lifters, Remote Oil Filter, and IRS (Independent Rear Suspension).  Also has a very nice black top, side curtains, and tonneau cover.  AM/FM CD Stereo with IPod and Blue Tooth capability (sounds great!).

This gorgeous recreation was built by one of the best builders in the business at the time (Classic Motor Carriages).  These cars are built and finished beautifully.  The fit and finish of this car is spectacular.  I can't remember the last time I had so much fun driving a car!  This car has a spectacular look that grabs everyone's attention.  It sounds and looks unbelievable.  Unlike anything else on the road.  Every panel lines up excellent and everything opens and shuts with ease.  These are great cars to go for a quick blast down the road or for a nice scenic drive.  These cars absolutely love twisty roads!  This car has been very well cared for and it shows.  I know most would never do this but these really are cars you could drive every day.  They are easy to get in and out of and they actually ride very comfortably.

A real 356 speedster has rocketed to a price of almost $300,000 dollars and you can have just as much fun as owning the real car but for a fraction of the cost!  This car looks very authentic to the untrained eye!  It is also titled as a 1957 Porsche

2015 Porsche 918 Spyder: Touring the factory

Wed, Dec 3 2014

Willy Wonka granted just five lucky Golden Ticket holders access to his incredible chocolate factory, yet we consider ourselves just as fortunate, as Porsche invited us to be among the first of just four American journalists to see behind the closed doors of its 918 Spyder assembly plant in Zuffenhausen, Germany. Of course, there were no Oompa Loompas or flowing chocolate rivers, but the vast white hall tasked with producing only 918 examples of the automaker's limited-production flagship revealed details that make Wonka's Golden Egg sorting room seem rather mundane in comparison. Unlike a traditional automobile manufacturing plant, which often encompass all processes of making a vehicle (e.g., stamping steel panels, welding components and painting), the 918 Spyder is built in an assembly plant. This means that hundreds of already manufactured parts, each crafted by Porsche offsite suppliers, are brought under one roof to be assembled into a perfectly finished product that is much sweeter – and far more expensive – than any candy delicacy. Our tour guide was Michael Drolshagen, Porsche's Director of Production, Logistics and Quality - a walking encyclopedia when it comes to the engineering and assembly of the 918 Spyder. Drolshagen generously offered us unrestricted access to walk among the factory's 110 workers – and a couple-dozen vehicles in process – to photograph everything. This is a story best told with pictures, so we've put together a raft of our best images in a high-resolution gallery and captioned each with a detailed description. If you've still got questions, please voice them in Comments section and we'll do our best to answer.

Auto journalist ordered to pay big money for blowing up Porsche 917 engine [UPDATE]

Tue, 22 Jan 2013

Racecars blow engines all the time, but a Porsche 917 isn't just a run-of-the-mill racecar. British automotive writer Mark Hales reportedly borrowed a 917 from 82-year-old former Formula One racer David Piper for a magazine article, and mechanical tragedy ensued. Nobody is arguing that the engine failed after being spun to 8,200 rpm. However, Hales was warned not to exceed 7,000 rpm, says owner Piper, and the affair landed in English courts with Piper seeking £50,000 - over $79,000 US - in reimbursement funds for an engine rebuild and loss of use of the car while it was being repaired. Judge Simon Brown ruled in favor of car owner Piper, putting Hales on the hook for £110,000 ($174,000) including legal fees - a whole lot of money in any language.
Hales says the Porsche suffered a mechanical fault while lapping that allowed it to slip out of gear and over-rev. Piper wasn't convinced, and sought to have the repair paid for by the guy who broke the racer, saying "If you bend it, you mend it." It's not like Hales is a novice driver, having seat time in both professional and amateur races over 30 years, notching about 150 wins, but even the best drivers sometimes miss a shift, and that's what Piper contended happened to his car.
According to reports, Hales has had to sell most of his valuables to pay his lawyers and is now facing bankruptcy with the ruling against him. Members of the Pistonheads website are trying to coordinate a collection to help him out, as well.

2015 Porsche Macan Turbo

Mon, 24 Feb 2014

I knew it was a softball question, but I asked it anyway. It's pretty standard for automakers to offer up some examples of competitors when they invite the media to drive a new vehicle for the first time. If not stated outright, it's just as standard for some journalist to query about the competitive set as soon as the Q&A begins. I knew full well that Porsche believes it has a valuable new niche to itself with the 2015 Macan (and especially with the Macan Turbo), but I wanted to hear the answer to the competitor cars question anyway.
Porsche CEO Matthias Müller didn't hesitate for a second to respond. With a half-smirk appropriate to an executive that is about to launch the (very probably) most profitable and best-selling product in his brand's lineup he chuckled, "Of course, I could be arrogant and say this car has no competitors..."
Arrogant? Well, the grinning Müller certainly didn't give off a humble vibe as he proceeded to count down a list of German and British utility vehicles from various classes that are clearly behind the pace of the Macan in either looks, luxury, or sporting prowess - Range Rover Sport, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLK among them.
