Up for sale is my 1964 Porsche SC Coupe, matching numbers, body number 127849, engine number 810869, previous owner faxed title to Porsche and Porsche verified that this is a numbers matching car. According to Porsche Specs Booklet, Third Edition, production of cars for production year 1963 started with number 126001 in July, 1963 and went to 128104. This body number is 127849. SC engine numbers began with 810001 and ended with 811001. This engine number is 810869. As you can see body number and engine number coincide toward end of production run. Car was titled as a 1964 as many were by the time they reached the US. Porsche has verified that this is a matching number car. Block is stamped 616/16 which is an SC block.
Car will require a full restoration. Paint has been stripped off the car and the car is in bare metal. All rust areas are visible and no bondo has been thrown at the car. Doors close beautifully. Door gaps are incredibly tight and even all the way around. They close with a nice thud--one of the wonderful parts of this car. Engine lid closes well and gap is even all the way around. Hood is stamped with "849" and is original. It will require some metal work to be perfect but it closes and opens well and gap is even across the top near the windshield and along the fenders. New floors will be necessary as well as battery box. This is not a big problem. Front sections of floor were cut out by previous owner beginning to prep the area for replacement. He decided to sell the vehicle before completing this work. If the car doesn't sell we will bring it into the shop and do the metal work in house. It is just part of the business if you buy and sell enough 356s. Above the floor is very solid. What really attracts me to the car is the way the doors close so tightly and cleanly and evenly. Everything else can be fixed.
Car is mechanically complete. We haven't tried to fire up the engine but it turns over freely. We believe that it could run without too much difficulty. All 4 wheel disc brakes are present and the car rolls easily. The SC Coupe is one of the finest driving Porsche 356s available because of the 4 wheel disc brakes and higher horsepower engine. These cars restored are currently bringing $70,000 to $80,000 and more for a concours example. This is the car that you want to restore since it is a matching numbers car and high horsepower 356 and has 4 wheel disc brakes! It is an investment grade car.
We have taken over 140 photos of the vehicle. Click on the link below to see all the photos:

Autoblog Podcast #344:
Porsche Macan caught completely uncovered
Wed, 31 Jul 2013Porsche is preparing to launch its sub-Cayenne CUV, with a suspected debut at the 2013 Los Angeles International Auto Show, which means we're right about at the point where undisguised models start scampering around the cities and towns of Germany. Our spy photographers snagged just such a model, with only the headlights and taillights concealed by camouflage (no, those comically large lamps aren't a production item).
The undisguised car looks like a tiny Cayenne. Not really surprising, we know, but it's impressive to see how the Cayenne's styling works with the smaller proportions of the Macan. It looks squat, athletic and poised, like it's a small, "sporty" crossover we'd actually want to drive. Both the Macan and the Macan Turbo are shown, with the more powerful model sporting a set of quad exhausts.
The only big questions now concern the shape of the lights and the interior. From the photos, we can see a rough outline of the headlights, although the taillights are more difficult to discern. The interior remains a mystery.
Porsche's baby Panamera delayed until 2019 or later
Tue, 15 Jul 2014If you're enticed by the idea of a Porsche sedan but find the Panamera to be too big, your hopes may have been raised by the development of the so-called Pajun. But don't get those hopes up too much, because the latest word coming in from the Old World has it that the Panamera Junior has been delayed.
The Pajun was (and theoretically still is, despite tardiness) a project to apply to the Panamera the same winning formula that Porsche used to transmute the Cayenne into the smaller Macan. Its size would be closer to the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class than the larger Panamera, and employ an array of six-cylinder engines.
The smaller five-door was set to be the cornerstone of Porsche Product Strategy 2018, a plan that included several new models to be launched within the next four years. However, reports now indicate that the Volkswagen Group is counting on Porsche to help bolster its profits and is not keen on investing in new products at this time, pushing the Pajun and other projects back until 2019 at the earliest. Although much of the strategy remains undisclosed, it is believed to include (or have included) a sub-Boxster sports car and a supercar to slot in between the 911 and the 918 Spyder. There was also talk of a shooting brake version of the Panamera based on the Sport Turismo concept pictured above. What will become of those projects, however, remains to be seen.
