1962 Porsche 356b Coupe 1.6l on 2040-cars

Year:1962 Mileage:70126

Fullerton, California, United States

I am selling this 1962 Porsche 356B for a friend.  He is downsizing as he is getting on in years. He is the second owner and has owned this car since 1971. The car has a older repaint and is a California black plate rust free car. The paint is presentable although not perfect. Most all of the rubber is still soft. The pan is free of damage and corrosion. The chrome trim is excellent and shines up well.  All the glass is good, and the headliner is not ripped or torn. The mechanicals are good and the car roads well. The doors, hood and deck lid operate as they should with no sagging or play. The Back seat and seat deck look unused. This car is very nice and can be driven anywhere.  The Owner was a executive and is not a car guy. He has had this vehicle professionally maintained.   The car has been garage kept and driven mostly on weekends.  It has the original - owners manual, jack, spare, jack handle, workshop books, and luggage rack leather strapping. There is a aftermarket bra in good shape, and a few receipts dating back to the mid nineties.  I was told by the Porsche dealer that it is a matching numbers car and the odometer reads a little over 70K which is believed to be correct.  The car starts right up, does not smoke, the oil light goes of and does not come on at idle, It shifts well in all gears and has a lot of power for the 4 cylinder engine size.  The brakes do not pull and the car stops correctly.  The original carpet and interior is in excellent shape other than a wear mark on the drivers seat piping edge and the driver rocker carpet edge. The paint has a few nicks and looks to be touched up in a few areas.  There is a good quart of paint from the paint job which is a factory correct color  (the can is pre 1974 with no bar code).  The spare looks to be original with the leather hold-down strap in good shape.  The drivers headlight has a chip in the glass. The ash tray and glove box show no use. the radio is original to the car. The interior lights do not work. The patina on this car is great for its age and a well preserved older restoration example as this rarely comes up for grabs.  I have watched the sales on this car type and many have sold for more than the starting price that were not even close in condition.  The car is being sold with no reserve.  This is a good dependable car to drive or restore to show. The registration is current thru August 2014 and the title is free and clear. If you have any questions please call Jim -  seven one for 875 three for 28. The car is located in Orange county California.  Buyer pays for shipping. Payment must be received within 48 hours of auction end. Cashiers checks must clear prior to transfer.  Thanks for bidding.

Porsche patent sketches show removable headrest wind deflector

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

While driving around in a convertible might seem glamorous, ask anyone with long hair and they'll likely tell you how it really is: the wind buffets, your hair goes everywhere and it's anything but glamorous. That's why you see so many convertibles driving with their tops up, their windows up or wind deflectors in place. But Porsche is apparently preparing to kick it up to the next level.
These patent drawings have leaked out, demonstrating what appears to be some new kind of wind-deflecting device being developed by Porsche. The mechanism is apparently fitted to the headrest itself and designed to keep the wind buffeting specifically around the head down to a minimum while allowing the car's occupants to enjoy the top-down driving experience.
No word on when it might hit the market, but we won't be surprised to see this kind of device appear on a future version of the Boxster or 911 Cabriolet. But nowhere else: despite the apparent leak, the patent drawings suggest that Porsche will be keeping this technology proprietary. Whether sister brands like Volkswagen, Bentley or Lamborghini will get their hands on it remains to be seen.

Nick Murray's problematic Porsche 911 shows the power of a viral video

Fri, 18 Apr 2014

When Nick Murray took delivery of his 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera S in June 2013, he had saved for it for the past five years. He didn't just pluck a random 911 off a dealer lot. He specially ordered his car with thousands of dollars in extras tailored just to him, and he captured all of the options on his YouTube channel. The love affair didn't last long. Eventually the channel became a place for Nick to air his growing list of grievances about his deteriorating 911. Eventually, his mix of righteous indignation and sarcasm went viral.
By late December, he had already had four warranty repairs done on the car. Things got much worse in March. The computers began resetting whenever Nick drove over large bumps. There was also an acrid, electrical smell that occasionally permeated the cabin. Murray filed for Lemon Law protection. Porsche Cars North America contacted him for the first time to fix the problem, but it didn't help.
Things culminated in April when Murray put up a new video that showed more troubles. He began arbitration with Porsche and asked for either his full purchase price back or an exact replacement. The company countered with a portion of what the car was worth, based on its mileage. Murray refused and turned to his YouTube watchers for help. He asked them to spread the word, and the video went viral with over 800,000 views as of this writing. Supporters posted it multiple times on Porsche's Facebook and Twitter sites.

Porsche CEO hints at Macan GTS, expects brand sales growth to 200K+

Tue, 11 Feb 2014

Porsche is expecting big things from its little Macan, with CEO Matthias Mueller announcing that not only is a sportier GTS model being considered, but that the CUV will almost certainly help push Porsche beyond its 200,000-unit-per-year sales goal three years earlier than expected.
"We're transferring the genes of the Porsche brand into a new market segment," Mueller said during a speech to kick off Macan production, according to Automotive News Europe. Macan demand should push the brand past 200,000 sales, Mueller said, confirming what we reported back in August. And if Porsche really has a hit on its hands, it is able to boost production of the sporty crossover beyond its initial capacity of 50,000 units, according to the brand's CEO.
Provided that the Macan is the success Porsche hopes it will be, Mueller hinted that the range could expand beyond the initial Macan S and Macan Turbo. "GTS versions have a tradition at Porsche," Mueller said. "We haven't made a final decision yet regarding the Macan, but I'm sure it makes a lot of sense."
