Up for sale is my 1960 Porsche 356 B Super Coupe #113896, a great running car, solid throughout, well maintained over the years. The factory color on the driverside door hinge cover is 738 or "Elfenbein" (Ivory). The paint has great depth and reflection and is very sharp on the car for being an older restoration. The previous owner said that the car was painted in the early 1990s. There are a few minor knicks/scratches from over the years, but the the overall integrity of the paint is very fine reflecting how well it has been cared for during the years. This Porsche presents very well and is very attractive. It shows well and brings you over to look at the car. The front of the car has hard to find Marchal foglights as well as stone screens over the headlights. The chrome on these is perfect!. The lights are in working order. Again, all lights work, horn, tachometer, speedometer, gas tank gauge, temperature gauge, windshield wipers and radio are all working. The odometer is currently not working. Emergency brake holds well, engine compartment opens easily with a pull of the knob by the rear seat and the front bonnet opens easily with a pull on the knob under the dash. The chrome on the car is in excellent condition: bumper guards are excellent as are the mirrors and luggage rack on the engine lid. Hubcaps and wheels are striking, again the chrome is excellent. The chrome window frames for the front windows and quarter windows on both sides are very clean and their chrome is brilliant as well. The BF Goodrich tires are near new and the car "tracks" very well as it goes down the road at 55 miles per hour. It does not pull to one side or the other. The clutch is fine and all synchros are fine. The car shifts smoothly in all forward gears as well as reverse. There is no clutch chatter or anything of the sort. The car maintains its original 6 volt system and and carries a 6 volt Optima battery for ease of starting. Once the key is in the ignition and after pressing the accelerator once, the engine roars to life and runs without any hesitation. The carburetors were changed over to Webers and the car idles evenly at 750 rpm and will hold this idle indefinitely without touching the accelerator. I have taken pictures of the engine and it appears to have been rebuilt fairly recently. Pushrod tubes look shiny and the engine case is very clean all over. The engine has an unstamped third piece. The original heat control boxes were maintained on the car and all of the cables are hooked up for the heat on the car. The original drum brakes stop the car evenly and well with no pulsation or pulling to either side. Brake drums have been media blasted and are very clean. There is one bubble on the driver side door and some "waviness" on the bottom of the driver side door close to the front of the door. This isn't bubbles but waviness as you run your hand over it. The bottom of the doors are very solid and there is no scaly rust nor rust holes on the bottom of the doors. There is one small spot on the rear of the car about the size of a pencil eraser. I have shown pictures of this so that you can get an exact idea. Fitment of the door and hood and engine lid are excellent and all close well and maintain their gaps. The floors are excellent throughout as can be seen by the photos. Jackspurs look good. It appears that there was a minor repair on the passenger side longitudinal at some point but it is overall very solid. The interior is very nice, seats are in excellent condition, the chrome hinges/recliners on the seats are excellent, back seats show well, German weave carpets are clean and show well, headliner appears original and has faded slightly but is in very good condition. We have ordered the COA from Porsche and will forward this to the new owner. As we note, the car came to us with the "Super" emblem and we believe the car to be a Super.
I have posted over 150 photos on the link below:
Here are two videos of the car:

Porsche announces four flavors of updated Cayenne [w/video]
Thu, Jul 24 2014The new Macan may be getting all the attention lately, but Porsche hasn't forgotten about its larger crossover – the one that put it on the map in 2002 and on the road to profitability, with over half a million sold so far. So to keep the Cayenne at the top of its game, Porsche has announced several key upgrades for the 2015 model. For starters, Porsche has updated the Cayenne's appearance with new front- and rear-end styling. The front bumper, fenders and hood are entirely new, with air fins flanking the nose to direct air into the intercoolers (each model now being artificially aspirated), and new bi-xenon headlamps and daytime running LEDs on every model but the Turbo, which goes all-LED. Around back there's also new taillights, tailgate handle, lower rear fascia and exhaust pipes. Meanwhile the interior has been upgraded with a 918-derived sport steering wheel and reformed rear seats with available ventilation. The bigger news is under the engine bay, where Porsche is offering four choices. The base model is gone as the range starts with the Cayenne Diesel, followed by the Cayenne S, the new Cayenne S E-Hybrid and the top-of-the-line Cayenne Turbo. The Diesel model carries over the same 3.0-liter turbo diesel with 240 horsepower. The Cayenne S however packs a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 that's similar to the one found in the Macan Turbo and packs the same 406 lb-ft of torque but more power at 420 hp, 20 more than either its little brother or the model it replaces to reach 62 mph in 5.2 seconds. The new Cayenne S E-Hybrid makes Porsche the world's only car manufacturer to offer three plug-in hybrid models. Porsche has also ported over the powertrain from the Panamera S E-Hybrid to make what Porsche refers to as "the first plug-in hybrid in the premium SUV segment" and, along with the 918 Spyder, make it (almost unbelievably) "the world's only car manufacturer to offer three plug-in hybrid models" (unless, of course, you count the Opel/Vauxhall Ampera as separate from the Chevy Volt and Cadillac ELR). The system mates a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 with 333 hp to an electric motor with 95 hp to give it a combined output of 416 hp (more than the diesel and almost as much as the S) to propel it to 62 in 5.4 seconds, hit an all-electric top speed of 78 mph and an all-out top speed of 151 mph – offering a substantial improvement over the previous Cayenne S Hybrid.
Porsche reveals new Panamera Turbo S ahead of Tokyo debut
Thu, 31 Oct 2013For many buyers in the market for a luxury sports sedan, style is as important as performance. But while the Porsche Panamera undoubtedly delivers in the latter category, it falls somewhat short in the former. Porsche went to some lengths (if not quite far enough for some tastes) to improve its four-door model's visual appeal with the facelift revealed earlier this year, but now it's time to up the performance game with the new Panamera Turbo S.
Set to be revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show in just a few weeks from now, the new top-tier Panamera benefits from several key upgrades over the existing Turbo and the pre-facelift Turbo S. For one, its 4.8-liter twin-turbo V8 now produces 570 horsepower (up from 520 in the new Turbo and 550 in the old Turbo S and the latest Cayenne Turbo S) and 553 pound-feet of torque (up from the current Turbo's 516 but the same as the previous model). Despite the power boost, however, Porsche is quoting the same 3.6-second 0-60 time for the new Panamera Turbo S as it did for the previous one - but then that hardly required improvement in the first place. Top speed, however, is up to 192 miles per Autobahn-blurring hour, two mph faster than the previous model.
Other features include carbon-ceramic brakes (hopefully with more durable bolts than sister companies Lamborghini and Bentley have been using) packed inside the wheels from the 911 Turbo and an exclusive shade of greige called Palladium. And for the first time, customers will be able to order this top-spec model in long-wheelbase Executive trim. But don't expect it to come cheap: MSRP (before delivery and options) is quoted at $180,300 for the standard wheelbase and $200,500 for the stretched model. That's two and a half times the price of a base Panamera, and makes the new Panamera Turbo S Executive both the most expensive and most powerful Porsche your can buy this side of a 918 Spyder. Haven't passed out yet? There's more to digest in the press release, so head on down below to take it all in.
NYT profiles Blue Nelson, a reclusive and interesting CA car collector
Thu, 25 Sep 2014If it weren't for his Dale Earnhardt Sr. looks, Blue Nelson could be one one of those soft-spoken, nondescript guys whom you meet briefly and never learn much more about. However, as The New York Times shows in a recent profile and video, behind closed doors, Nelson keeps a fascinatingly eclectic collection of automotive oddities and vintage bicycles.
While his main career is in the movie industry, Nelson's other job is as a car hunter. He takes on clients searching for a specific model and helps them find and restore the dream vehicle that they're after. Hiring him takes some dedication, though, because Nelson doesn't advertise his services. "If people want to find me, they know how to find me," he says in the video.
Beyond being an automotive private detective, Nelson has a fantastically varied collection of vehicles of his own. He likes to have models that people don't usually see, and his garage holds a classic Chrysler New Yorker and an extremely rare Rometsch convertible. Although, the one that means the most to him is the 1962 Porsche 356 convertible that Blue came home in as a baby. Check out the video to learn more about Nelson and his philosophy about forming a bond with a car.
