Aetna Blue, Red Leatherette

Sunroof.

With original hood and engine lid stamped with last three of the vin. Finished in Aetna Blue with red leatherette interior per the COA. Engine removed and cleaned and resealed; correct zenith carbs rebuilt; engine placed on engine stand while out of car to run to be sorted out. Engine runs beautifully and starts after a few seconds of turning the key. Clutch is new and transmission also came out and was detailed, new rubber boots on transmission, cleaned and detailed. Transmission shifts through the gears like a hot knife through butter! Number on the transmission was confirmed as matching COA. All 4 corners of brakes were disassembled, media blasted and rebuilt. Drums were media blasted, turned and measured. New rubber brake lines installed all the way around. New Continental tires all the way around on Porsche 356 rims that have been chromed. The brakes stop the car evenly and firmly and have excellent pedal. Original hubcaps  were sent to chrome platers and straightened and rechromed. New porcelain center emblems installed on hubcaps. New shocks all the way around. We have the spare tire for the vehicle; we took it out of the car to take photos of the battery box. Factory original jack and handle with new tool kit (reproduction) come with the car.

Originally sold new in California, the car was incredibly solid when it first arrived to us. Our shop installed new battery box sheet metal along with tow hook--please see pictures on link, it is a work of art! Floor is 75% original-we noticed some minor perforations on passenger side rear quarter pan and we replaced this section. We also installed new longitudinals, not because they were rusty but because they were dented, along with new jack spurs.  The original undercoating was stripped and new undercoating was sprayed on the car.

Door and hood gaps are excellent all the way around, doors close with a nice "thunk" and maintain an even gap all the way around.  New rubber stripping and freshly chromed window frames and top of the door chrome molding along with freshly chromed quarter window frames set the car off. New window rubber gaskets and felts were installed. Freshly chromed bumper guards along with new deco strips on front and rear bumper along with body side molding have been installed. New front lights and grills as well as new rear lights and emblems.

Newly installed red leatherette interior per COA and German Square Weave carpet set from Autos International set off the interior nicely. New rubber floor mat and rear mats also installed. New aluminum sill plates and rubber thresholds installed.

Aetna Blue paint was Willhoit color matched and is base coat clear coat, with 4 coats of base and 4 coats of clear. The paint on the car is striking.

Sunroof is a manual sunroof with original Golde sunroof handle. The sunroof opens effortlessly and easily and smoothly slides along its track. It closes correctly lifting the sunroof panel evenly with the exterior roof line.

We have taken over 250 photos of the car. Since we are limited to 24 photos on Ebay, we have posted numerous photos of the floor and longitudinals and battery box as well as closeups of the exterior body and interior. We have also posted 2 videos of the car running.

The first is a short drive of the car:

Road & Track names its 2013 Performance Car of the Year

Thu, 14 Nov 2013

Road & Track recently staged its first annual Performance Car of the Year test, pitting 13 new and updated performance cars against each other on track, then graduating the top six to a road test before picking a winner. Additionally, the magazine staff picked the best automobiles of the year in eight categories.
But first, let's cover the PCotY segment. Here's the list of cars brought to the comparison test: Audi R8 V10 Plus; BMW 435i; BMW M6 Competition Package; Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Z51; Ferrari F12 Berlinetta; Ford Fiesta ST; Jaguar F-Type V8 S; Jaguar XFR-S; Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S-Model Wagon; Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series; Mini John Cooper Works GP; Nissan GT-R Track Edition; and Porsche Cayman S.
To find out the results of the comparison, head over to Road & Track's website or check the press release below, where you'll also find the magazine's top-rated vehicles in eight categories. Want more? Head over to the 2013 PCotY hub. But before you do that, take a stab at guessing the winner of PCotY (we'll give you one hint: it isn't a Porsche).

Evo sets up duel of Porsche 911s

Thu, 20 Mar 2014

What's better, rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive? That question has occupied auto enthusiasts for years, and so far, we've not really had a solid answer one way or the other. Evo has opted to take another whack at this tough question by pairing a pair of Porsche 911s against each other for a track battle.
In one corner, we have the two-wheel-drive 911 Carrera S, complete with the lickity-split PDK transmission, a sports suspension and carbon-ceramic brakes. In the other corner, it's the all-wheel-drive 911 Carrera 4S in a much mellower spec, with a seven-speed manual, as well as standard brakes and suspension. While the results seem like they'd be a foregone conclusion, some very British weather is there to act as the great equalizer.
We've got the full video down below. Have a look, and let us know if you agree with Evo's results.
