The Porsche 356 commenced production in 1948 through 1965. Known in its day for aerodynamics, handling and exceptional build quality, the 356 Speedster is a marvelous and highly sought Porsche classic. The 1957 Ruetter body cab has been replicated to the original factory Speedster by JPS Motorsports of CA.  Built upon a solid and straight 1963 VW chassis, it has been finished in classic Guards Red with an interior of black leather and red contrasting piping.  The black canvas top, black boot tonneau cover and side curtains all in exceptional showroom quality. The interior features a classic Nardi wood Porsche steering wheel and speedster bucket seats. The exterior look is completed with chrome "moon" hubcaps, all the period-correct badging and a suspension set at the proper ride height.  Modern conveniences include the stopping power of modern front disc brakes, excellent handling via lowered gas shocks, sway bars and radial tires, a steel reinforced, hand-laid fiberglass body that can never ding, a modern Pioneer sound system hidden under the dash (see photos), and halogen headlights. The 2110cc engine is reliably built with dual Weber carburetors, and mated to a 4-speed close ratio manual transaxle.

Now for the issues:
* Paint - Excellent shape overall.  Various small stone chips on the nose.  Small paint chip on passenger's door (see photo)
* Hubcap - Passenger side rear hubcap has a dent/crease in it (see photo)
* Windshield wipers are disconnect... needs a C-clip.  Motor, etc all functional

This vehicle is tuned, well sorted, dependable and ready for the Summer.  The look and feel of a classic Porsche without the hassles!

On Broughams and Alfas | Autoblog Podcast #501

Fri, Jan 27 2017

On this week's podcast, Mike Austin and David Gluckman discuss the odd history of the oft-recycled Brougham name. (Did you know some people pronounce it "broom" and they're not wrong?) There is of course discussion of what they've been driving lately, and things wrap up with Spend My (Your) Money buying advice to help you, our dear listeners. The rundown is below. Remember, if you have a car-related question you'd like us to answer or you want buying advice of your very own, send a message or a voice memo to podcast at autoblog dot com. (If you record audio of a question with your phone and get it to us, you could hear your very own voice on the podcast. Neat, right?) And if you have other questions or comments, please send those too. Autoblog Podcast #501 The video meant to be presented here is no longer available. Sorry for the inconvenience. Porsche's baby Panamera delayed until 2019 or later

Tue, 15 Jul 2014

If you're enticed by the idea of a Porsche sedan but find the Panamera to be too big, your hopes may have been raised by the development of the so-called Pajun. But don't get those hopes up too much, because the latest word coming in from the Old World has it that the Panamera Junior has been delayed.
The Pajun was (and theoretically still is, despite tardiness) a project to apply to the Panamera the same winning formula that Porsche used to transmute the Cayenne into the smaller Macan. Its size would be closer to the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes E-Class than the larger Panamera, and employ an array of six-cylinder engines.
The smaller five-door was set to be the cornerstone of Porsche Product Strategy 2018, a plan that included several new models to be launched within the next four years. However, reports now indicate that the Volkswagen Group is counting on Porsche to help bolster its profits and is not keen on investing in new products at this time, pushing the Pajun and other projects back until 2019 at the earliest. Although much of the strategy remains undisclosed, it is believed to include (or have included) a sub-Boxster sports car and a supercar to slot in between the 911 and the 918 Spyder. There was also talk of a shooting brake version of the Panamera based on the Sport Turismo concept pictured above. What will become of those projects, however, remains to be seen.
