1965 Tempest convertible with the original 326 - 2bbl carb in tact backed by the original 2 speed automatic transmission. The motor runs but does have a ticking sound coming from the lifters and also a noise coming from the flywheel which has been diagnosed as a loose flywheel bolt. I have the original air cleaner not shown which completes the original motor setup. I also have a 1965 421 - 338hp engine complete with a matching turbo 400 transmission which goes with the car. This motor was a running motor and comes with many of the accessories still on the motor such as the power steering pump, alternater, water pump, fan, starter, etc. The intent for the car was to convert it to a GTO trim package and add the 421 as the power source. The car already has OEM GTO front grills, OEM GTO hood, OEM GTO passenger grab bar, OEM chrome dash bezels, OEM radio, OEM bucket seats, OEM center console (not in car), new aftermarket taillights, new after market headlight bezels, OEM Ralley wheels and more. I have new in the trunk a new in the box Harrision radiator, all new aftermarket GTO emblems for the exterior, new in the box front and rear door panels, new door arm rests covers in black and chrome along with a buncj of other new items.... Now for the good news, the car is an original Texas vehicle and the frame, floor boards, rockers, body mounts etc are rock solid. I had the carpet out before it was repainted and the boards are incredible. You cant find better. The only body work in the form of new metal were a couple of spots above the rear wheels which were done in a very professional manner. There are three holes in the left rear quarter from someone prior to me making holes for the wrong GTO emblems, ugh! Trunk is beautiful. This car might be in Maine but it is not a northern car at all. This would be a great project for someone who wanted to make a GTO tribute with a kick butt motor. I have all the specs on the 421. The paint is fresh and it is regimental red. New bucket seats, new rear seats, Convertible top is all there but should be replaced to be prefect. It is a manual top which I love it. Call with questions.

Junkyard Gem: 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona 500 Edition

Tue, Aug 29 2017

The W Platform proved to be extremely long-lived and versatile for General Motors, remaining in production from 1988 all the way through 2016. You had your Impalas and your Regals and your Cutlass Supremes, and of course the 1988-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix was a W-body. For the 2000 model year, Pontiac made the racy-looking Daytona 500 Edition Grand Prix, an example of which I just found in a Northern California self-service wrecking yard. 2,000 of these cars were made, presumably because it was the year 2000, and each one sports plenty of cool-looking Daytona 500 graphics. Perhaps some Regal owner will buy these seats and swap them. This is the second junked Daytona 500 Grand Prix I have seen recently, after this one in Colorado. The Daytona 500 was about the same as the GTP version, with Eaton-supercharged 3800 engine making a respectable 240 horsepower. Disappointingly, this car has an automatic transmission. It never saw 150,000 miles, unlike most 21st-century W-bodies I see in wrecking yards. Featured Gallery Junked 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona 500 Edition View 21 Photos Auto News Pontiac Sedan

Florida man runs down bikers in traffic

Tue, May 31 2016

A Florida biker and his passenger got a nasty surprise when a road rage incident turned ugly on Monday. According to WTSP, Joe Calderazzo was returning from a Veterans Memorial Day motorcycle rally around 5:30 pm with a group of fellow riders. During their ride, the group got entangled with an overly aggressive driver in a Pontiac. Abe Garcia of Tampa watched the silver Pontiac attempt to run the pack of bikers off the road, which started the altercation. The bikers caught up to the Pontiac in stopped traffic, and a shouting match ensued between the bikers and the Pontiac driver. At this point, Garcia pulled out his phone and started recording. The exchange escalated, and suddenly the Pontiac driver floored it, turned hard to the right, and ran over Calderazzo's Harley. The Pontiac mangled the Harley and knocked Calderazzo and his passenger to the ground. The Pontiac then fled the scene. WTSP spoke to Calderazzo as he was on his way to the hospital. "I thought the guy was trying to kill us obviously," said Calderazzo. "You know you don't know what's going through your mind. Is he going to put the car in reverse? Is he going to turn around? Is he going to stop and pull out a gun? You don't know what's going on." The Pontiac driver, a serial traffic offender named Robert Paul Vance, was picked up by police soon after the incident. He is charged with hit-and-run, a moving traffic violation, and aggravated battery. Watch as Hot Rod goes from El Paso to LA the hard way

Tue, 21 Feb 2012

There are few things simultaneously more romantic and idiotic than taking a road trip in a beaten-down heap of a car. Trust us. We know. David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan of Hot Rod Magazine fame recently undertook an epic trip from El Paso, Texas to Los Angeles with the express goal of doing so for under $1,500, including the purchase price of a vehicle, food, lodging, repairs and, most importantly, fuel. With this in mind, the duo settled on a 1972 Pontiac Catalina for a lofty $650. Hilarity ensues.
Realizing that no one actually wants a Catalina sulking around the shop, Freiburger and Finnegan put the car up for auction on eBay Motors the instant they had the title in hand. By the time they rolled into Hot Rod HQ, the vehicle sold for a little over $500.
The video is part of a new series called Roadkill that should document similar adventures. Keep your eyes peeled for more calamity-soaked clips in the near future. In the meantime, hit the jump to check it out yourself.
