Two Project 1981 Recaro Nascar Turbo Trans Am's *very Rare* on 2040-cars
Lutz, Florida, United States
I picked these up from a nice gentleman close to me who had these just sitting and waiting to be restored. I only restore Trans Am's and have a couple projects in front of these so I'm letting them go to someone who can put these diamonds in the rough back on the road. Anybody who knows these cars knows how rare it is to find one let alone two. Only 2000 made in 1981. The 1st car is a clean Florida title X87T (VIN 1G2AX87T7BN118796) car that had a tree fall on it across the hood area. The interior is intact and has had a 403 installed at some point in it's life. It will need body work from the tree damage but is mostly rust free. The trunk, pans, rear hinge pans, rear valance and other normal areas common to rust are clean. All I could find is some bondo on the lower rear quarters. This car is about 95% there and would make a nice resto. T-tops are in good shape. The 2nd car is a non titled (bill of Sale) X87T (VIN 1G2AX87T9BN116306) car bought as a parts car for the first. It is complete with interior and has a little more rust than the first car. It does have the 301 but only has a carb set up on it now. The intake, turbo and manifold are included however for the resto. T-tops are also in good shape. This car is a excellent parts car for the first or could even be restored if chosen. It is also about 95% there. Please remember these Super Rare cars are sold as a project. Both cars are worth approx 12k in parts. A finished Recaro T/A can sell for approx 20k so these are a solid investment. I'm not interested in selling only one or parting them out. All parts pictured are included in the sale. Buyer is soley responsible for the pick up and delivery of the cars and parts. Cars are located Outside of Tampa, Fl. 33559. Any questions please ask and thanks for looking.

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod
Fri, 21 Feb 2014There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
Lutz says GM was working on 5th-gen Pontiac GTO
Thu, 08 Aug 2013Bob Lutz was one of the forces behind bringing the Holden Monaro to the United States, as the ill-fated Pontiac GTO in 2004. And while that car received critical acclaim, it was a sales disappointment. Now, Road & Track is reporting that our suspicions were correct - Pontiac was working on a two-door, G8-based coupe before it was shuttered.
In that R&T article, which is no longer available online, Lutz explained that the new GTO would solve many of the issues found in the original. Car Advice speculates that the new model would have look like a rebadged version of the Holden Coupe 60 Concept from 2008, a conclusion we also came to.
That car would have been a big departure from the 2004 to 2006 GTO. It has an extremely long hood and short rear deck, with an almost fastback roofline and a wide greenhouse with a tall beltline. The wheel arches were very pronounced, and the chin and rocker panel splitters gave it a race-ready look. Would it have been enough to make the GTO work in the US? We think it might of, but it looks like we'll never know.
Want to buy a worst-in-show-winning Faux Ferrari Fiero?
Mon, Aug 31 2020UPDATE: This heap sold for $5,001. But don't fret, there are more terrible cars out there for the taking if that's your thing. Today we bring you something truly terrible. It's not just a fake Ferrari built on the guts of an old Pontiac Fiero, it's actually the world's worst fake Ferrari built on the guts of an old Pontiac Fiero. And it's got the award from the Concours d'Lemons to prove it. It's so heinous, in fact, that it has somehow managed to become desirable, at least judging by the bidding history of this bright red affront to Maranello. Powered by a 140-horsepower 2.8-liter V6 engine (covered by an unconvincing and broken fake V12 cover) hooked to an automatic gearbox, this gloriously poor Prancing Horse won't be winning many stoplight drag races. There are bundles of stray wires hanging down from the dashboard, it has high mileage, most of its lights don't work, and it's ugly. Like, really ugly. And to top it off, this Fauxrarri can't currently be registered in its home state of California because it has failed its most recent smog test. Put simply, you're looking at a total piece of junk. But a piece of junk with internet notoriety, having been featured on an episode of Jay Leno's Garage after attending the 2019 Quail Motorsports Gathering — by mistake at first, and then earning a special place next to the porta potties — being the focus of a video series on YouTube and winning the aforementioned ribbon for Worst in Show at Lemons. Somehow, bidding has topped $4,000 at the time of this writing. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
