Check out this SWEET 1950 Pontiac Chieftain. This was a friend of mines ride and baby. Its was restored by him and always garage kept! The pictures you see are just how it was when we pulled it out of his garage! This was a frame on resto. The paint is a beautiful straight black and has no flaws I can find. There are no dents, dings or scratches. It appears to be the original color also. The interior is done in a gray cloth and is new throughout. The headliner is new and the seats are like setting on your couch at home. It is wonderful to be drove around and setting in the back seat. The dash is in great shape and is finished in a silver grey and shows very well. All Gauges and instruments on the dash functions as they should. The car has the Cool Push Button Factory Start. This slick ride is a 3 Speed on the column. The transmission shifts smooth and strong. The clutch is strong and very easy to push. The car drives true and straight. Its doesnt wonder all over the road like most old 50 cars do. Its has a fairly new set of Coker wide white tires with stock rims. The rims have been painted red to give it a nice accent of color. The Chrome is like new all over the car. The chrome has no dents on dings of any kind I can find. All headlights, Taillights, Signal lights, Interior Lights, Dash Lights, Etc. function as they should. The car is equipped with Factory Sun Visor and Fender Skirts. All the glass is clear with no clouding. The doors, trunk and engine hood shut solid. The car is equipped with the numbers matching SUPER DEPENDABLE Straight 8!! The engine is strong and runs like a champ!! It is so quite that you only hear the tires on the road. The engine compartment is detailed out. The engine is nicely repainted the factory green. The car is still on its original 6 volt system. It is equipped with new OLD style interstate battery. The car starts like a dream every time also. This ride will make some person a great driver / show car! Or it is ready for the WEST COAST and turn into a OLD SCHOOL LOW RIDER!! The odo is showing 91400 which we believe to be the actual miles. However we are selling it tmu due to how the DMV does titles now in the state of VA. Also due to its age. This ride is also equipped with new exhaust and is super quite. We have gone completely over this car in our shop and have found it to be a great solid ride. We can not think of a thing this sweet ride needs, other than a new good owner and great home as before!! If you have any further questions please feel free to e-mail us or call us at 540-537-1223. Please leave a message if there is no answer. Any inspections are welcomed. Again this a GREAT Solid Ride. Just took it for a nice long ride today!!! It truly is a pleasure to drive! Love those VENT WINDOWS too!!! DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!!! GOOD LUCK BIDDING!!

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
Junkyard Gem: 2006 Pontiac Solstice
Wed, Sep 4 2019The debut of the Pontiac Solstice, back in 2005 for the 2006 model year, stirred up much excitement in the automotive world. Sales were brisk at first, and then they weren't so great… and then Pontiac itself went under The General's cost-cutting axe. One thing I have learned during my junkyard travels is that even sought-after sports cars eventually reach a point at which they start showing up in the big self-service junkyards. For example, the BMW Z3 began appearing in such yards about five years ago, along with the Audi TT. While the Honda S2000 still appears to be exempt from this process, today's Junkyard Gem shows that the time has now come for the Pontiac Solstice/Saturn Sky. The first Z3s and TTs I saw in the U-Wrench-type yards were crash victims, not worth fixing, and that's the case with this Solstice. In a few more years, I'll start seeing the occasional Solstice/Sky discarded due to general worn-outness. Someone grabbed all the undented front body parts and the transmission (these items, presumably, being valuable), but no junkyard shoppers have felt like pulling the non-turbo 2.0-liter Ecotec. The interior seems dirty, probably from exposure to the elements while sitting outdoors in this Colorado Springs wrecking yard, but not in bad shape otherwise. Perhaps the car's owner celebrated a return from Iraq with the purchase of a sporty new Pontiac, 13 years ago. These cars have an enthusiastic following, so I wasn't expecting to see a junked one so soon after production ceased. I felt the same way about the Chrysler Crossfire, however, and I found two of those last year. What's next, a 2002-2005 Thunderbird? This content is hosted by a third party. Junkyard Gem: 1980 Pontiac Phoenix LJ Hatchback
Sun, Jan 22 2023The car-building world was rushing headlong into front-wheel-drive by the late 1970s, eager to reap the weight-saving and space-enhancing benefits of front-drive designs. General Motors designed an innovative FWD platform to replace the embarrassingly outdated Chevrolet Nova and its siblings, and that ended up being the Chevrolet Citation. The other US-market GM car divisions (except Cadillac) got a piece of the X-Body action, and the Pontiac version was called the Phoenix. Here's one of those first-year Phoenixes, not doing a very good job of rising from its snow-covered ashes in a Colorado self-service yard. Pontiac had used the Phoenix name on a luxed-up iteration of Pontiac's version of the Chevy Nova during the 1977-1979 model years, and so it made sense to apply that name to the Pontiac-ized Citation. Phoenix production continued through the 1984 model year (the Citation managed to hang on through 1985). Just to confuse everyone, the Nova name was revived in 1985, on a NUMMI-built Toyota Corolla. The LJ trim level was the nicest one for the 1980 Phoenix, and it included lots of trim upgrades and convenience features. However, even Phoenix LJ buyers had to pay extra for a three-speed automatic transmission instead of the base four-on-the-floor manual ($337, or about $1,291 in 2022 dollars). If you wanted air conditioning, that was another $564 and you had to get the $164 power steering and the $76 power brakes with it (total cost in 2022 dollars: $3,080). Affordable cars weren't so affordable back then, not once you started adding basic options. Both generations of the Phoenix had grilles influenced by those of the Pontiacs of earlier years. The base engine was the chugging 2.5-liter Iron Duke four-cylinder, but a 2.8-liter V6 was optional. This car has the V6, rated at 115 horsepower rather than the Duke's miserable 90 horses. The price tag: 225 bucks, or 862 inflation-adjusted 2022 bucks. The Phoenix was available just as a two-door coupe and five-door hatchback. The MSRP on this car would have started at $6,127, or around $23,469 now. That would have been a pretty good deal even after paying for the options, with the Phoenix's excellent mix of good interior space and solid fuel economy… but the Citation and its kin (the Oldsmobile Omega and Buick Skylark as well as the Phoenix) suffered from seemingly endless, highly publicized recalls and quality problems.
