UP FOR AUCTION IS A VINTAGE 1988 PONTIAC SUNBIRD GT TURBO CONVERTIBLE WITH A 4-CYLINDER 2.0 LITER FUEL INJECTED ENGINE. EVERYTHING ON AND IN THE CAR IS ORIGINAL EXCEPT FOR THE TOP WHICH WAS REPLACED ABOUT 5-YEARS AGO. THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 32,000 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT AND HAS NEVER BEEN ON THE ROAD IN THE WINTER TIME; IT HAS BEEN USED LITTLE AND ALWAYS KEPT UNDER COVER IN THE WINTER MONTHS. MY PARENTS PURCHASED THIS CAR FROM A LOCAL DEALER IN UPSTATE NY. THE OWNER OF THE DEALERSHIP HAD PUT 12,000 MILES ON IT AS HE DROVE IT PRIOR TO THEM PURCHASING IT BUT THEY STILL GOT THE NEW CAR WARRANTY WITH IT. I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM MY PARENTS A COUPLE YEARS AGO AND DIDN'T PUT IT ON THE ROAD UNTIL THIS PAST SUMMER. THE CAR DRIVES AND HANDLES VERY WELL AS WOULD BE EXPECTED FOR SUCH LOW MILEAGE. IT IS A VERY SNAPPY CAR WITH FAST ACCELERATION. AS CAN BE SEEN IN THE PHOTOS, IT IS NOT MINT BUT IN VERY NICE WELL PRESERVED CONDITION. THERE ARE SOME MINOR FLAWS WITH THE VEHICLE INCLUDING VERY MINOR SCRATCHING OF THE PAINT, SOME OF THE SUNBIRD LETTERS MISSING ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR, A LOOSE HOOD RELEASE LATCH (STILL FUNCTIONS FINE THOUGH), A SPEAKER THAT CRACKLES A LITTLE AND THE A/C DOES NOT WORK ALTHOUGH I HAVE NOT TRIED TO HAVE IT CHARGED; THAT'S REALLY IT. Saturn Vue ignition switch leads to new group of GM recalls totaling 312k

General Motors has another spate of recalls to announce. This time they cover 312,280 vehicles worldwide, including 269,041 of in the US, in a total of six campaigns. In 2014, the automaker has recalled 29,079,765 vehicles worldwide, with 25,754,356 of those in the US.
The largest among them covers 215,243 units of the Saturn Vue from 2002-2004 model years worldwide, 202,115 in the US. It's possible for the for the key to be removed even when the ignition isn't in the OFF position. The company knows of two crashes and one injury caused by this problem. Dealers are checking the parts and replacing the ignition cylinder and key set, if necessary.
Next is 72,826 models worldwide (48,059 vehicles in the US) of the 2013 Cadillac ATS four-door sedan, 2013 Buick Encore and 2013 Chevy Trax in Canada. It's possible that the for lap belt pretensioner to retract but not to lock, which could increase occupant movement during a crash. Both front, outboard lap belt pretensioners are being replaced, and a stop-sale is in effect on unsold models until the problem is repaired. There are no known crashes or injuries, though.

GM expands headlight recall to 180k Buicks and Pontiacs

General Motors is issuing an expanded headlight module recall to include 180,504 examples in North America of the 2005 Buick LaCrosse (2008 model year pictured above) and 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. Specifically, the campaign affects 159,584 of them in the US and 20,920 in Canada. When the part fails, the vehicles' low beams can stop working either intermittently or permanently. "GM is unable to confirm any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this condition," the company said in a statement, and there's currently no permanent repair for the problem. For now, dealers will replace the headlamp module with a new example of the same part. The automaker first announced this campaign in November 2014 when it affected 316,357 examples globally of the 2006-09 Buick LaCrosse; 2006-2007 Chevy TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT; 2006-2007 GMC Envoy and 2006 GMC Envoy XL; 2006-2007 Buick Rainier; 2006-2008 Saab 9-7X; and 2006-08 Isuzu Ascender. 6 car mashups that God never intended

In the 2000s, the musical mashup genre saw a peak of popularity with releases like The Grey Album from Danger Mouse that mixed The Beatles and Jay-Z. UK artist James Pursey from Carwow decided to take the same concept of shoehorning two disparate things together but applied the concept to cars. Your opinion on the results will vary with your sense of humor. These creations are either some funny pieces of abstract art or absolute monstrosities that prove good design should be left alone. Likely the best of the bunch is the Lambotomic (pictured above), which combines a Lamborghini Miura and an Ariel Atom. Granted, the Ariel is little more than a skeleton to begin with, and the outcome looks like a slightly stretched Atom with the new nose and tail from one of the most beautiful vehicles ever. This could actually work. Though, not all of the mashups are quite so pleasant. The Porschiac WW RS (pictured right) is absolutely disgusting. It combines a Pontiac Aztek, which isn't a beauty queen to start with, and a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Obviously, the 911 is an iconic shape in autonobolia, but that can't save it from the horror of the Aztek. Pursey fits the its nose, wheel, wing, roll cage and stripes onto the Pontiac. The outcome: A design that will show up in your nightmares. Check out the gallery for the rest of the mashups, including the Humi (a Humvee and a Mini), Aston Smartin (Aston Martin and Smart), Rangerini (Range Rover and Lamborghini Aventador) and the Mazdafenda (Mazda MX-5 Miata and Land Rover Defender). They might not all be beautiful (or even pretty), but it's fun to imagine these oddball creations actually driving down the road.
