1988 Pontiac Sunbird convertible 2.0 liter 4-cylinder turbo with 31,824 original miles.  She's old but not tired!!  My parents bought this car brand new in 1989 and never drove it in the winter; it has always been stored under cover.  I bought this car from them two years ago and have never put it on the road although I have started it monthly.  Thought I wanted it but turns out differently.  The car is in good working condition; runs fine and the interior is in very nice condition as can be seen by the photos. The only thing not original is the back window which my father had replaced about six years ago.  The engine runs great and it is a very snappy car when you step on the gas; can definitely tell and hear when the turbo kicks in!!  There are a few flaws with the car including some cracked plastic around the seat belt components, a couple dings in the body, the lettering "Pontiac" has aged and broken off from the front of the car, the seals around the windows do show cracking etc.  My father also noticed a few years back that there was some water on the floorboard when he had it outside in the rain for a day or so and while he couldn't track the leak down, he believes it could have been running in from the seal around the hood; I don't know and I've never had it out in the rain.  I can tell you that when I washed it, I did not notice any water enter anywhere.  Anyway, that's about it; I have no idea what the car is worth and was unable to find any like it on my internet searches.  I did find two red ones on auto trader but they were a year newer with over 100,000 miles and not in as good condition selling for (not sold) $3,000.  I'm sure my starting price is a bit high but I'm willing to take serious offers.  I do have the car for sale locally and if it sells, I reserve the right to end this auction early.  I can say that I'm fortunate enough to not have to sell this car and have no problem putting it back in the garage for storage if necessary so please, no lowball offers.  If there's a winning bidder, that bidder is responsible for arranging for and paying for pickup if it is not a local pickup.  Any questions, feel free to ask; I'd be more than happy to take additional photos if necessary.

GM recalling 1.4 million older vehicles for oil leak fire risk

Tue, Oct 27 2015

General Motors is recalling 1,411,332 older vehicles with its 3.8-liter V6 yet again due to a fire risk. Specifically, there are 1,283,340 of them in the US, and the affected models are the: 1997-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue 1997- 2004 Buick Regal The fault with these vehicles is that oil can drip onto the hot exhaust manifold during hard braking, which can potentially cause of fire. In the last six years, there have 19 reported minor injuries from this problem but no crashes or fatalities, according to the company. Spokesperson Alan Adler also told Autoblog: "GM has reports of 1,345 fires in vehicles that were repaired under two previous recalls for this issue." At this time, GM is still developing a remedy for the problem. According to Adler, the company advised owners to park these vehicles outside for the previous recalls. "The cars can be safely driven. In cases where a customer reported an engine fire while driving, smoke was reported, which would be an indication of a malfunction," he said. This is GM's fourth recall for this problem since 2008, according to The Detroit News. At one point it was believed that aging valve cover gaskets allowed the oil to leak out and drip onto the manifold. A campaign in 2009 covered nearly 1.5 million of these models through the 2003 model year for the same issue. At the time, dealers installed new spark plug wire retainers as a fix. Related Video: GM Statement: General Motors is recalling 1,283,340 older sedans and coupes in the U.S. from the 1997 to 2004 model years because drops of oil may be deposited on the hot exhaust manifold through hard braking, which can cause engine compartment fires. GM is working on a remedy. The company is aware of post-repair fires in some vehicles but no crashes or fatalities. There have been 19 reported minor injuries over the last six years. These vehicles with 3.8-liter V6 3800 engines are affected: 1997-2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala, 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina and 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, 1998-1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue and 1997-2004 Buick Regal. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total population is 1,411,332.

2013 Hurst Edition Trans Am

Mon, 13 May 2013

No, you didn't read our title wrong. This is a 2013 model year Trans Am, and yes, that is a Pontiac logo affixed to the front of the car. But don't bother dialing up your local General Motors dealership just yet. This is the new Hurst Edition Trans Am created by the Trans Am Depot located in Tallahassee, FL. Having spent a number of years restoring early Trans Am models, the crew at Trans Am Depot finally did what many Pontiac enthusiasts wish GM would have done - create a modern Trans Am using the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro.
As the former owner of a 1977 model, I've been wanting to check out Trans Am Depot ever since I first saw the company have American Choppers build a trio of motorcycles inspired by its Pontiac remakes. So I jumped at the chance to head to Florida's capital city to visit the shop and drive its latest creation, the new Hurst Edition Trans Am. As a collaboration with Hurst, this car made its debut at the 2012 SEMA Show and then popped up again on our radar with a cheesy yet perfectly fitting video back in March.

Wanted: 1967 Pontiac GTO for a special Father's Day

Thu, 07 Jun 2012

Jim Sharp of Elkhorn, Wisconsin needs a red 1967 Pontiac GTO to make his dad's Father's Day, possibly his last one, something extra special.
Back in the '60s, Jim's dad, Ken, drove a cherry red 1967 GTO to California for a job. He met a girl, got married and decided his wife's 1965 Ford Mustang was more fuel efficient than the Goat and the GTO was sold. As the story almost always goes, Ken has had seller's regret ever since.
Jim always meant to find a 1967 GTO and, with his dad's help, restore it. But life got in the way, time slipped by and Ken was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and given about three months to live.
