I'm selling my 1963 LeMans convertible. This is a numbers matching car with the 195 cubic inch four cylinder and 3 speed transmission. It is Kelverton Blue (light blue factory color) with a white top. This is a nice driver that I have owned for 4 years. It turns heads everywhere it goes and is a blast to drive. The convertible top functions perfectly and the tonneau cover is in good condition. It has a white interior with blue carpet. Very nice Pontiac wire hubcaps with new tires. Window glass is all in good condition with no cracks. All the guages work. It has a Hurst shifter. I have found most of the repair parts on Ebay. The body is in excellent condition. It is not perfect though. I call it a survivor car with minor repairs. There are a few minor things that it needs. New window felts and the period correct radio that is in it needs repair, which can be done for about $150.

This model year was a historic moment for Pontiac. The LeMans, with its rear transmission and independent rear suspension was a breakthrough in engineering. It is the precursor to the GTO which came out in 1964.

It is licensed and inspected in Texas.

I have made the following repairs:

New windshield $650
New windshield chrome $250
New Tail light lenses $300
New rear bumper $250
New sun visors $150
New exhaust system $250
Rebuilt Starter $125
New Trunk Liner $125
Repaired the turn signal $80
Installed Seat belts $250
New Battery $75
Engine Work $1,600 (I'll be glad to share on the work performed by Ramsey's Rods in Fort Worth)
New drum and wheel cylinder on right front wheel $674

I have the following extra parts that I will include:

Complete set of bulbs and fuses
A spare starter core and solenoid (haven't tested, so assume it would need to be rebuilt)
The old set of windshield chrome that is in fair condition
Body shop and chassis manuals and wiring diagrams

Here's what needs to be fixed or repaired (none of which prevents it from being driven and enjoyed):

There is a very minor leak at the differential
The interior is a 6, good from 10 feet
It has a period correct Pontiac radio that does not work
Needs a jack
It has an electric fuel pump (the engine driven one is bad, but could be replaced)
Back up lights need to be re-connected
One of the interior courtesy lights need a new socket

I've tried to accurately describe the condition of this vehicle. Don't expect show car quality, but it's a car you can drive and enjoy while you improve on it like I have.

Thanks for looking!

GM expands headlight recall to 180k Buicks and Pontiacs

Thu, Aug 20 2015

General Motors is issuing an expanded headlight module recall to include 180,504 examples in North America of the 2005 Buick LaCrosse (2008 model year pictured above) and 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. Specifically, the campaign affects 159,584 of them in the US and 20,920 in Canada. When the part fails, the vehicles' low beams can stop working either intermittently or permanently. "GM is unable to confirm any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this condition," the company said in a statement, and there's currently no permanent repair for the problem. For now, dealers will replace the headlamp module with a new example of the same part. The automaker first announced this campaign in November 2014 when it affected 316,357 examples globally of the 2006-09 Buick LaCrosse; 2006-2007 Chevy TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT; 2006-2007 GMC Envoy and 2006 GMC Envoy XL; 2006-2007 Buick Rainier; 2006-2008 Saab 9-7X; and 2006-08 Isuzu Ascender. Baseball team to dress like Trans Am, complete with screaming chicken

Fri, Feb 8 2019

Come to think of it, the Screaming Chicken actually sounds like the name of a minor league baseball team. Well, it isn't, but the famous logo of the same name that graced the hood of the 1970s Pontiac Trans Am will at least be making it to a baseball uniform this summer. The Lansing Lugnuts, a Single-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, will be rocking these special uniforms to honor the late Burt Reynolds and his film Smokey and the Bandit. By default, it will also be honoring the car the movie made famous: the 1977 Trans Am painted black with gold trim and, of course, the screaming chicken on the hood. This is a pretty good history of the emblem. So why the Lugnuts and Burt Reynolds? Although he claimed to be born in Georgia for much of his career, he admitted in a 2015 autobiography that he was in fact born in Lansing, Mich. After a few years, his family settled in Florida. Not exactly hometown hero stuff, but minor league baseball promotions have been made of more tenuous connections. The Burt Reynolds tribute night will be July 20, and if you want to get a screaming chicken jersey for yourself (I mean, wouldn't they be perfect for a cars and coffee?), the game-used jerseys will be auctioned off for charity after the game.

700 horsepower Porsche GT2 RS is the wildest 911 ever

Fri, Jun 30 2017

The Porsche 911 comes in a variety of flavors, each filling a certain taste for a certain customer. Sitting atop the range is the new 911 GT2 RS. In previous generations, the GT2 had a bit of a reputation as a widowmaker, a 911 with massive power that could snap and bite with the slightest agitation. Porsche says the new model has been civilized, but with 700 horsepower going to the rear wheels, we're sure it's going to be as mad as ever. Power comes from a highly massaged version of the 3.8-liter flat-six from the 911 Turbo S. The rear-mounted engine makes an outrageous 700 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Like we previously reported, the new car will use water injection to help keep things cool. The only transmission is Porsche's PDK. While enthusiasts may lament the loss of the manual, the RS models have always been about performance above all else. Simply put, the PDK is the better performance option. All that power translates to a 0-60 mph time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph. The engine makes 80 more horsepower than the previous model. That makes it the most powerful road-going 911 ever built. In fact, the 887 horsepower 918 Spyder is the only road-going Porsche that makes more power. The fact that Porsche trusts all of that power to go to the rear is both thrilling and terrifying at the same time. In order to manage traction, the GT2 RS gets a number of upgrades. Rear-wheel steering has become commonplace in the 911 lineup, so it's no surprise to see it here. Sticky tires with 265/35 ZR 20 section rubber at the front and 325/30 ZR 21 section rubber at the rear keep things planted. That comically large rear wing adds downforce, adding to stability. The car gets standard carbon ceramic brakes. While some people prefer traditional rotors for the street, like the PDK, this is all about performance. A number of intakes and outlets complement the rear wing and maximize aerodynamic efficiency. It's a bit of a surprise that with all the focus on downforce, the GT2 RS still manages to top out at 211 mph. The hood, front wings, wheel housing vents, door mirrors, side air intakes, parts of the rear end, and a number of interior components are all made from carbon fiber. The roof has been made of magnesium. If you want to drop any pretense of civility and comfort in the pursuit of speed, Porsche is offering a Weissach package that shaves off another 40 pounds from the already impressive wet weight of 3,241.
