Please read description and study the pictures carefully. For auction is this 1968 Lemans sport coupe (post), 2 door. original 350 engine and automatic transmission.

This is a one owner car until 2012. originally bought in southern California and move to western Washington in 1994 when the original owner quit driving it and parked in his driveway. It sat there until 2012 when he looked at it, noticed how it had deteriorated and sold it. I bought it to restore and began disassembling it and realized it's too big a job for me. The trunk floor and rear shelf area have server rust. The area below the windshield is bad too. I have since sold parts off the car. It was a nicely optioned car with AC, bucket seats, console, etc. The car DOES NOT come with front seats, console or any underhood AC parts.

The engine runs very well. Does not burn oil. It has a very slight lifter tick, otherwise fine. The trans fluid is bright pink and works well. The floors are decent except the right rear and a few holes under the rear seat. The frame is in excellent condition. Never any accidents. I sold the front fenders, but comes with front wheel wells in good shape. Radiator is fairly new. The doors are both very nice. the quarters just need patches behind the wheels and a few minor dents removed. The trunk lid has some rust on the outer metal but the structure is fine. I drove this car all over last fall and on the freeway. It drove very well. No wandering or vibrations.

Though not pictured, car comes with the original hood, RH grill, and a section above the rear window I removed from a junk car for this car. Also, hood hinges, AC control panel included. And, (2) 14x7 rally II's. The two on the car are 14x6 and are included. The last pic is 2 rear shelf areas that I also cut from another car for this car. They are included.

I am selling with NO RESERVE and cheap. Mainly, I want someone to fix her back up, or make a fine race car out of her.If the car doesn't sell, I will remove the parts and junk it. The car is NOT running right now only because there is no battery. However, DOES RUN VERY WELL! The brakes are bad!! CAr rolls and steering just fine.

The steering column is from a 69, but included is a nice 68 floorshift column. Also, I have a very nice original FULL trunk floor with all bracings from a 68 I will sell fort additional 200.00.

Any questions???  Email me. Buyer pays shipping, but I will aid in loading car.

Steve McQueen barn find: Movie Trans Am surfaces after almost 40 years

Mon, Dec 17 2018

An important Steve McQueen film car has emerged from barn storage. No, it's not yet another " Bullitt" Mustang, quite the contrary: The car in question is a 1980 Pontiac Trans Am, and it starred in McQueen's final film, " The Hunter." In the movie, McQueen plays a bounty hunter, and while in " Bullitt" he's quite the wheelman, that's not the case in this one. McQueen's character, "Papa" Thorson, is a horrible driver, and the Trans Am is far too much car for him. A chase sequence sees McQueen driving a combine harvester to catch the perps who are driving his stolen rental Pontiac, and the Trans Am ends up blown in half with dynamite, then returned to the airport on a trailer. The driver of said GMC truck and trailer combination, Harold McQueen (no relation), received the title of the first car used in filming, and for the following decades planned to fix the now-ruined car, but never got around to it. Instead, the 1,300-mile Pontiac wreck sat on a farm for nearly 40 years, until Harold decided to sell it to an enthusiast. There's studio documentation proving the car's pedigree, and stunt modifications can be seen in the Pontiac's floor and dash. While it's obviously in dreadful condition, the car remained more intact than the other stunt car the film crew blew up even more spectacularly — that car ended up as the pile of parts in the airport scene, and those bits and pieces were eventually dropped off at a junkyard after a Pontiac dealer refused them. McQueen did also drive a 1951 Chevrolet in the film, and kept that yellow convertible after filming was wrapped up. Sadly, he was diagnosed with cancer just a month later, after reportedly being in poor health during the shooting, and passed away in December 1980. The yellow Chevy stayed with his estate for some years, later getting restored and auctioned. Right now, it's not clear what the Trans Am's fate will be. The car's current owner, Calvin Riggs from Carlyle Motors in Katy, Texas, wants to know more about the Trans Am and the film shoot: His post on Hemmings includes a lot of information, but more would be useful. Saturn Vue ignition switch leads to new group of GM recalls totaling 312k

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

General Motors has another spate of recalls to announce. This time they cover 312,280 vehicles worldwide, including 269,041 of in the US, in a total of six campaigns. In 2014, the automaker has recalled 29,079,765 vehicles worldwide, with 25,754,356 of those in the US.
The largest among them covers 215,243 units of the Saturn Vue from 2002-2004 model years worldwide, 202,115 in the US. It's possible for the for the key to be removed even when the ignition isn't in the OFF position. The company knows of two crashes and one injury caused by this problem. Dealers are checking the parts and replacing the ignition cylinder and key set, if necessary.
Next is 72,826 models worldwide (48,059 vehicles in the US) of the 2013 Cadillac ATS four-door sedan, 2013 Buick Encore and 2013 Chevy Trax in Canada. It's possible that the for lap belt pretensioner to retract but not to lock, which could increase occupant movement during a crash. Both front, outboard lap belt pretensioners are being replaced, and a stop-sale is in effect on unsold models until the problem is repaired. There are no known crashes or injuries, though.

This 1927 Oakland is a minimalist hot rod

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

There are hundreds of American automakers that sprung up during the dawn of the automotive era, only to fold into obscurity or get gobbled up by what would eventually become the Big Four (yes, we're counting AMC here). Oakland is one such company, which was the forbearer for General Motors' Pontiac division. Sold until 1931, you simply don't see Oakland-badged cars anymore. Unless, that is, you know Brian Bent.
Bent drives a 1927 Oakland that still rides on wooden wheels. Its original wooden wheels, from the sound of it. That makes this anachronist and his Oakland the perfect subject for a Petrolicious video. Like many of the cars highlighted by Petrolicious, this old Oakland has had some work done to it, featuring a Pontiac flathead engine that's been pushed forward and a clutch pack built by Bent.
Take a look below for a closer look at this rare and fascinating Oakland.
