1964 Gto (tribute) Lemans on 2040-cars
Macomb, Michigan, United States
Up for auction is my 1964 GTO (Clone) Lemans. This is a recently restored beauty that
catches a lot of attention. This is not
a show car but is a very nice driver.
Paint is a beautiful glossy black, interior is also all black with tinted
windows to keep it cool. This is a
strait up old school muscle car with very few luxuries. I did put in a classic custom audio radio in
the car, looks like the original AM radio when it’s off but has a digital
display and AM/FM when you turn it on. Everything
is new on the inside, new carpet and matching floor mats, newly re-done seats
front and back. It has a new wiring harness
front to back. As said above the paint
is very nice but there are a couple minor scratches that made me a little sad
but I’ve lived with them. All the
moldings and badges are new and the bumpers have been re-chromed. The wheels are some restored Rally II’s with
the PMC centers wrapped with BFG TA Radials.
The car has 4 wheel disk brakes that do a great job stopping the
car. The engine is a 389 Tri-Power with
all the period correct lines and linkage which breaths through a Magnaflow x
pipe system. The ignition has been
completely updated with a Power-Tronics system. This is a strong healthy engine
that pulls strong and has excellent oil pressure. Behind that is the true muscle car 4 speed
with the BOP 10 bolt rear axle which has 3:90 gears and a posi. As stated this car was not restored to be a
show car but it is a very nice driver.
There is no rust and it is clean top to bottom, I get many compliments
on it appearance. For the bad, it does leak a little bit of fluids from time
to time but they are minor. The instrument
cluster has not been replaced or upgraded and with that the fuel gage and
speedometer do not currently work. Bottom line this is a solid car and is new from the ground
up with the exception of the instrument cluster, you will not be disappointed
so bid to win. |

2.1 million vehicles recalled again over faulty airbags
Sat, Jan 31 2015Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Honda and Toyota will recall 2.1 million vehicles to fix faulty airbag modules "after the manufacturers' original attempts to fix the defects proved ineffective in some vehicles." These vehicles had all previously been recalled, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that the airbags could still potentially malfunction. This recall will cover Acura MDX, Dodge Viper, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Honda Odyssey, Pontiac Vibe, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Matrix and Toyota Avalon models made in the early 2000s. NHTSA has reportedly received about 40 reports of airbag deployment in such vehicles, even though the vehicle had not been involved in a crash. Roughly one million of these same vehicles, all from Honda and Toyota, are also subject to recalls due to faulty Takata airbag modules, though this particular recall is for "an electronic component manufactured by TRW" that is separate from the actual airbags from Takata. According to NHTSA Administrator Mark Rosekind: "This is unfortunately a complicated issue for consumers, who may have to return to their dealer more than once. But this is an urgent safety issue, and all consumers with vehicles covered by the previous recalls should have that remedy installed. Even though it's a temporary solution until the new remedy is available, they and their families will be safer if they take the time to learn if their vehicle is covered and follow their manufacturers' instructions. A hassle is much better than a family tragedy." If you're the owner of an affected car, expect to hear more from the official automaker and government channels in short order. In the meantime, we'd suggest getting your car checked and fixed at your local dealer. The official statement and recall information can be found below. Previously Recalled Vehicle Remedies Not Working as Designed; NHTSA Announces Follow up Recall of 2.12 Million Cars and SUVs Saturday, January 31, 2015 Contact: Gordon Trowbridge, 202-366-9550, Public.Affairs@dot.gov WASHINGTON – U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced today the recall of more than 2.12 million Acura, Dodge, Jeep, Honda, Pontiac, and Toyota vehicles for a defect that may cause airbags to deploy inadvertently. The recalls will provide vehicle owners with a new remedy after the manufacturers' original attempts to fix the defects proved ineffective in some vehicles.
Junkyard Gem: 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona 500 Edition
Tue, Aug 29 2017The W Platform proved to be extremely long-lived and versatile for General Motors, remaining in production from 1988 all the way through 2016. You had your Impalas and your Regals and your Cutlass Supremes, and of course the 1988-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix was a W-body. For the 2000 model year, Pontiac made the racy-looking Daytona 500 Edition Grand Prix, an example of which I just found in a Northern California self-service wrecking yard. 2,000 of these cars were made, presumably because it was the year 2000, and each one sports plenty of cool-looking Daytona 500 graphics. Perhaps some Regal owner will buy these seats and swap them. This is the second junked Daytona 500 Grand Prix I have seen recently, after this one in Colorado. The Daytona 500 was about the same as the GTP version, with Eaton-supercharged 3800 engine making a respectable 240 horsepower. Disappointingly, this car has an automatic transmission. It never saw 150,000 miles, unlike most 21st-century W-bodies I see in wrecking yards. Featured Gallery Junked 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona 500 Edition View 21 Photos Auto News Pontiac Sedan
This Auto Aerobics car art ties our brains in knots like pretzels
Sat, 14 Dec 2013We like cars, and we like art. Naturally, Chris Labrooy's Auto Aerobics series - computer-generated images of some seriously contorted 1968 Pontiac Bonnevilles floating in mid-air - instantly clicked with us. If the Pontiacs weren't floating or hollow, we could be fooled into believing the image is real. But where's the fun in that?
Check out the gallery we included of Labrooy's Bonneville art, and feel free too head over to his website for some Formula One humor.
