Up for sale is my 2006 CGM A4 GTO. The car currently has 32,xxx mi. Interior is a 9/10, exterior is an 8/10 with a few scrapes on the under side of the front bumper, and a few (covered/touched up) standard rock chips. Car has been modified in stages and driven in a spirited manner on occasion. Never tracked, has seen light rain on a hand-full of occasions when I was caught out. Always garaged. I’ve had the car since 2008 and am the original owner, as it sat on the lot for almost two years. Very clean overall. I’ve really tried to take great care of this car since I’ve owned it. I have a file with a ton of receipts for routine maintenance and modifications if interested, and I also have the original window sticker. Regular oil changes and maintenance has always been a priority for this car. Title is clean and clear. The car is set up well for fun but is also super daily drive-able. Car sounds great (due to the cam), but not ridiculous as it has stock axel back, and gets many positive comments at stoplights and in parking lots. I usually drive it ~8 mi to work only on nice days, and cruise on the weekends. Located in Overland Park, Kansas. (25 min south of KC.) Car made 570 whp in 2014. Mods: -TVS1900 with a 3.0 snout pulley and overdriven rear setup. 10.5-11.5 psi, with supporting fuel mods (Magnapack, Walbro 255, 60 lb injectors.) -Denso Iridium spark plugs -VRX5 cam -SLP headers with high flow cats -FTI custom stall converter -RPM stage 4 transmission -Hawk HPS ceramic brake pads on stock rotors with ss Russel braided lines -Alky Control single nozzle meth kit -Lingenfelter CAI -Brand new Nitto NT01 245/40/18 ET Street radials on the back, 235/40/18 Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position’s in the front. Bridgestones have ~ 2k mi on them. Headers were done at approximately 3k mi, cam and stall was done at around 9k mi, s/c was done at around 13k mi, and meth and RPM tranny were done around 29K mi. Car will come with all stock parts except mids and cats, some extras like spoiler hole plugs, extra lug caps/covers, rear insert/fascia GTO stickers, etc….

'67 Chevy Corvair convertible vs. '86 Pontiac Fiero in cult classic showdown
Fri, 22 Aug 2014Every few a decades, the folks running General Motors lose their minds briefly try to market a car that public doesn't see coming and often aren't ready for. In the '60s there was the rear-engine, air-cooled Chevrolet Corvair, then the mid-engine Pontiac Fiero in the '80s and the completely bizarre Chevy SSR in the 2000s. What all of these had in common was that they bucked the trend for American models of their era, for better or worse. The latest episode of Generation Gap tasked the hosts with finding two cult classic vehicles to choose between; they came come up with two of these quirky products from The General.
On the classic side, there's a 1967 Chevy Corvair Monza convertible. Being from later in the production run, it wears slightly more aerodynamic styling than the earlier, boxier examples. Hanging out back is an air-cooled, 2.7-liter flat-six pumping out a robust 95 horsepower. In the other corner is the somewhat more modern 1986 Pontiac Fiero SE with a mid-mounted, 2.5-liter "Iron Duke" four-cylinder, an engine nearly ubiquitous in GM cars of the '80s.
Judging by when they were new, the Corvair was far more successful than the Fiero with over 1.8 million sold. Of course, Ralph Nader's book Unsafe at Any Speed kind of poisoned the well, even if the poor safety reputation wasn't entirely deserved. The Fiero on the other hand only lasted for a few model years before shuffling off, but it eventually got its own performance boost with the V6 version and rather attractive GT models. 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern
Mon, 07 Nov 2011General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
Porsche Sports Car Together Fest is a labor of many Porsche loves
Sat, Sep 17 2022Over Labor Day Weekend, Porsche held its second annual Sports Car Together Fest (SCTF) at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. We happened to be nearby, so we swung by to check out an event we’d never heard of until a few weeks before. Reading about it on Porsche's U.S. web site made us think it would be something like Rennsport Reunion for the Midwest. Turns out SCTF is just as much of a different kind of fun. The fest Tom MooreÂ’s the man behind Dark Horse Motorsports, the motorsport consultant for Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) PR. "People love Rennsport Reunion, but thatÂ’s every three to four years," he explained. “We wanted to gather people on those off years, and we didn't want to just do a mini Rennsport, because thatÂ’s its own thing. WeÂ’ve maintained the motorsport history at Rennsport. Here [at SCTF], we're doing the current look at what Porsche racing is for." In this case, that means gathering what Moore called "our Porsche motorsport pyramid." ThatÂ’s the range of enthusiast drivers from novice to hotshoes trying to get to top-tier endurance racing, "[starting] with the progression from Porsche Club of America track days up to the top of the ladder of one-make racing in North America," the Carrera Cup North America, a series made up of nothing but the latest 500-horsepower 911 GT3 Cup cars. The three days of racing action allowed almost any kind of Porsche owner interested in clipping apexes to compete around an Indianapolis Motor Speedway layout tweaked with an infield section. This year, that included ex-NASCAR star Jeff Gordon, coming out of retirement to reunite with his longtime NASCAR crew chief Ray Evernham for the top-class Cup races. Evernham told us Gordon hasnÂ’t raced in five years and he hasnÂ’t been a crew chief in 22. On very short practice, Gordon finished in 14th in the Pro Class in the first Carrera Cup race of the weekend driving the #24 Hendrick Performance Group Porsche, and 11th in the second race. Afterward, he said, "I made a pass on the white flag lap. That made my whole weekend Â… I must say that yesterday, I thought ‘man, I am getting beat out hereÂ’ and I donÂ’t like that. If I am going to be in an environment like this, I want to be competitive. But today turned the corner for me. So, I hope I get to do another one day." When we strolled the paddock after the event, exposed sheet metal proved "Rubbing is racing" is a thing in the Carrera Cup as well as NASCAR.
