Original Factory Hot Rod Muscle Race Restoration Barn Find Vintage V8 4 Speed on 2040-cars
Kelseyville, California, United States
Restorable true 1965 Pontiac GTO. The car was built November 20 1964 at the Fremont plant here in Northern California. It was parked outside in the Central Valley area of Stockton California somewhere around 1973 until just this year. The old goat wears whats left of the original paint which is Nightwatch Blue (E code). The motor thats in it is not the original 389 4 barrell but a Pontiac 350 from a Firebird, and it is frozen. The rest of the car looks to be complete and totally original including the clutch set up, 4 speed and rear end. The car suffered a large tree dropping leaves all over it for the last 40 years which eventually rusted out the A pillars and around the windshield and back glass. The rest of the car as far as rust issues is what you would expect of a Northern California car - Frame Inner Fenders Rockers Doors are all good - minor rust at the floor pan, right quarter and trunk. I purchased the car recently with plans to leave it as is. I would install a cage, monster running gear and run it. Those plans are still in place but it is a real 65 GTO and after getting it back into my shop I realized it could be restored. I figured I would give you folks a chance to save it before I start the project. I can always find a Tempest or Lemans down the road for my "Rusty Relic Racing" idea it doesnt have to be the real deal. Reserve is set at what I have into the car down to the penny, if reserve is not met the cars mine. Clear California title in my name in hand - Car is currently licensed and registered in California. Thanks for checking out my auction. If you need specific pictures of any areas or more details dont hesitate to "ask seller a question". Car is sold where is as is with no warranties expressed or implied. Shipping costs are buyers resposibility although we will make sure its loaded onto your carrier properly. If you need help with transport, ask. We may be able to help find a good one for you. Payment in full within 5 days by cash in hand, wire transfer or check. NO PAYPAL Best of Luck

GM expands ignition switch recall to over 1.3 million cars amid climbing death toll
Tue, 25 Feb 2014
588,000 Saturn Sky, Saturn Ion, Pontiac Solstice and Chevy HHR models join the 778,000 cars already being recalled.
General Motors has announced a massive expansion of a 778,000-unit recall we told you about two weeks ago, doubling not only the total number of cars affected but expanding the recall beyond Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 models previously mentioned. The recall originally centered around ignition switches that could slip out of the "run" position if jostled or if any weight was applied to the key in the cylinder.
Pontiac Aztek rises from the ashes of infamy in Firebird Trans Am guise
Thu, Apr 9 2020What if the Pontiac Aztek, one of the most widely ridiculed vehicles ever built, was reimagined with a little flair from one of the former brand’s more legendary cars? Well, it turns out that someone not only came up with that idea, but followed up on it. And so, we present to you the Pontiac Aztek Firebird Trans Am, uh, trim package? ItÂ’s not real, of course, but it comes from Abimelec Arellano, an Hermosillo, Mexico-based car designer with too much time on his hands who goes by the name Abimelec Design. Arellano redesigned the midsize SUVÂ’s wimpy front fascia to surprising success by simply adding widened fender flares and perhaps modernizing the headlights. He also went all-in embracing the AztekÂ’s abrupt, flattened rear end by removing the rear bumper lip, adding a slightly more aggressive rear spoiler to boot. This content is hosted by a third party. Arellano also added some probably larger Pontiac Snowflake wheels with gold accents that really make them pop and play well against the signature Firebird decal dominating the hood. Commenters generally fall into one of two buckets. As one put it, “I never thought the Aztek could look this good.” Others implored Arellano to do a version with a T-top. Or as one Autoblog editor put it, “So it turns out the reason the Aztek was a laughingstock failure is that it didnÂ’t come in a Smokey and the Bandit Edition. Somewhere, a dude who got shouted down in a product-planning meeting years ago is vindicated.” Sold between 2001 and 2005, the Aztek arguably reached the pinnacle of its notoriety as the metaphor for the drab, underachieving life of Walter White in AMCÂ’s meth drama, “Breaking Bad.” It came equipped with a 3.4-liter V6 that made 185 horsepower and sent it through a four-speed automatic to the front wheels, with an all-wheel drive version also available. The Aztek may have the last laugh, especially if it gets a screaming chicken. “The fact it was a controversial design and didnÂ’t sell well will make it an object of curiosity from a historical standpoint many years from now,” McKeel Hagerty, president and CEO of classic-car insurer Hagerty Insurance, told Autoblog back in 2016.
NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall
Wed, 13 Mar 2013
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.
