Greenlawn, New York, Namibia
1967 PONTIAC GTO VIN: 242177G117289 THERE ARE OVER 80 HUGE IMAGES OF THIS STUNNING GTO SHOWN BELOW! DESCRIPTION: This NO RESERVE auction is for an incredibly sharp looking 1967 PONTIAC GTO sedan. This is a three owner car that was purchased on Long Island, New York in 1967, at Montauk Pontiac in Bayshore, and it has remained there ever since. The current owner has been in possession of the car for the last 23 years. The maroon exterior and black interior are the original colors that it came with and all of the bright work is brilliant! In addition to having the original bill of sale, the full PHS documentation was purchased and is provided. We believe that the odometer indicated mileage is correct. This 400 cubic inch 4 barrel car has a 10.75 compression ratio and it develops 335 horsepower. It was delivered with a turbohydramatic transmission with a his and hers shifter and a 3.36 rear axle. This frame off restored beauty is numbers matched down to all of the original sheet metal (some of the numbers are shown), including the trunk. The drive train is all original. The sandblasted frame and suspension parts are all POR coated along with anything else that was bare metal. The rear differential was also prepped and completely resealed. All bushings, lines, hoses, clips, new engine wiring harness, new gas tank and straps is only the beginning of what went into bringing this project back to life. Restoration of the seats belts alone was almost $1000, without installation. The washer bottle and nozzles are new, transmission cooler lines, hard top fuel line, battery cables and choke thermostat. The original radio and speaker were restored as was the wiper motor and carburetor. Other parts such as the fuel pump and all of the ignition parts were replaced along with the entire exhaust system. New hood hinges and springs were installed, new rear view mirrors inside and out. There are pages of small parts that were purchased and changed out to make this car both fun and safe to drive as well as extra good looking. If you think we overlooked something that should have been done, chances are it was. The transmission was serviced regularly and the top end of the engine was overhauled. The exterior and interior of this car is super straight and clean, the result of the extensive restoration project that touched on every aspect of the car. The paint job is gorgeous, accented with tasteful white pin striping. It has beautiful new wheels, beauty rings and new red line B.F. Goodrich radial tires. It recently passed New York State's Motor Vehicle Bureau rigid inspection for safety. We didn't want to bog you down with pages of useless GTO history and performance information, considering that most of the people looking at this Pontiac will know much more about it than we do. This PONTIAC GTO performed flawlessly when driven and everything works as well as designed, or better. No squeaks, rattles or other objectionable noises at all. It fires right up and there is no smoke or other gremlins as it warms up nicely and settles into a comfortable idle. All of the instruments work, as do the lights, wipers, horn and heater. It has been converted to full power disc brakes with a full kit from Master Power. That means you can actually stop this car if you happen to get going a little too fast. The few nits that we were able to pick is a very short list indeed including only a separation of the driver's side rear seat panel vinyl pulling away from the trim (shown). We will provide the new owner with PHS automotive services, inc. package and documetation with over 30 pages of detailed information and specifications about this particular vehicle. As with all of our eBay Motors listings we try to let our high resolution photographs tell the story about the vehicles that we are selling. All of the pictures you see were just taken and we have shots from many angles including the exterior, engine bay, full interior, trunk and undercarriage. This sedan is a magnificent looking and performing driver and the new owner will need only to get behind the wheel, fire it up, and drive away. If you study our clear multiple images very carefully, you will see exactly what this immaculate Pontiac GTO is all about. The clear multiple high resolution images of this car, shown below, will do a much better job of describing the look, style, condition and market value of this vehicle than our words ever could. Feel confident to fly in and drive this one back home. We invite questions and comments and there is NO RESERVE on this auction! General Lee takes on Bandit T/A in classic Hollywood car showdown [w/poll]
Fri, 26 Aug 2011You don't have to be born in the 1960s or 1970s to be able to recognize the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard and the Pontiac Trans Am from Smokey and the Bandit. These old school four-wheeled stars seem to transcend demographics thanks to the miles of film that show the orange 1969 Dodge Charger and the jet-black 1977 Pontiac Trans Am performing seemingly impossible stunts.
The folks at Hot Rod magazine are obviously hip to this fact, and they put together a fun video in tribute of the instantly recognizable duo. Hit the jump to watch on as Sam Young and James Smith replace Bo Duke and The Bandit for a bit of dirt-road shenanigans in a pair of otherwise well cared for classics. We're not so sure we'd call it the best chase scene ever, but it sure looks like a lot of fun.
More importantly, which of these two cars would you rather own? Have your say in our poll below.
Woman Cleared In Fatal Car Wreck After GM Letter
Tue, Nov 25 2014A Texas judge cleared a woman Monday for a car accident that killed her fiance in 2004, after General Motors acknowledged that her car would have been among millions being recalled for a problem that may have contributed to the death. Candice Anderson was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion when it suddenly veered off a road about 60 miles east of Dallas and slammed into a tree. Anderson, then 21, was severely injured when the car's air bags failed to deploy. Her 25-year-old fiance, Gene Erikson, who was a passenger, was killed. She later pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the wreck. But during a hearing Monday, State District Judge Teresa Drum expunged the conviction from her record, according to officials in the Van Zandt County court andAnderson's attorney, Bob Hilliard. In a letter given to the court ahead of the hearing, an attorney for the automaker confirmed that Anderson's Saturn would have been among 2.6 million GM vehicles recalled in February to address ignition switches that can slip out of the "run" position, causing the engines to stall and disabling power steering, brakes and air bags. Anderson's crash "is one in which the recall condition may have caused or contributed to the frontal air bag non-deployment in the accident," attorney Richard C. Godfrey wrote. Hilliard provided a copy of the letter to The Associated Press, and Godfrey confirmed its contents Monday. Anderson was initially charged with criminally negligent homicide because there was no clear explanation at the time why the wreck occurred, according to court documents from the case. She pleaded guilty to a letter charge in 2006, and was sentenced to five years' probation. She also was ordered to perform 260 hours of community service, pay court costs and cover the costs of Erikson's funeral. "GM knew this defect caused this death, yet instead of telling the truth watched silently as Candice was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter," Hilliard said Monday. "It took 10 years for GM to find its voice." In a separate statement issued by the company, GM said it "cooperated fully by providing technical information that was requested to make a decision in this matter." The carmaker also said the issue in Anderson's case was for local law enforcement and courts to consider. "That's why we took a neutral position on Ms. Anderson's case," the company's statement said. "It was appropriate for the court to determine the legal status of Ms.
World's only 1964 Pontiac XP-833 Banshee coupe for sale by Kia dealer
Mon, Apr 20 2020It seems like there has been a spate of especially odd car sales in the first part of this especially odd year, from the numerous barn finds and homebrew specials to the time capsule cars — like the BMW wrapped in a protective bubble for 23 years. Napoli Kia in Milford, Connecticut, brings us another, via Motor1. Len Napoli is the dealership principal and die-hard Pontiac maven; his father opened Napoli Pontiac in 1958, and Len held onto the franchise until the early 2000s, just before GM shuttered the brand that built excitement. Napoli got hold of the 1964 Pontiac Banshee XP-833 coupe concept, and put the car up for sale through his Kia dealership for $750,000. The exceptional price comes from the fact that Pontiac built two Banshee concepts in 1964, one this silver coupe with a red interior, the other a white roadster, making each concept a one-of-one collector car.   Motor Trend wrote a detailed piece on this one in 2013, the editorial tour hosted by Bill Collins, the Banshee's lead engineer. The short story is that GM exec John Z. DeLorean — yes, him — gave approval to a small crew at Pontiac to create a two-seater sports car to compete with the Mustang, because GM had nothing to fend off the four-seat coupe that would sell one million units in just 18 months on the market. Collins and his team took inspiration from the 1963 Corvair Monza GT concept, working up a fiberglass body over a steel frame, with a 230-cubic-inch overhead-cam straight-six producing 165 horsepower and 216 pound-feet of torque, a four-speed manual transmission, and 9.5-inch drum brakes at all corners. The idea was that the XP-833 would be "an affordable and fun two-seat sports car," the concept demonstrating the base-model price leader offering a lengthy list of options for those who wanted more. The white roadster, in fact, fitted a 326 cubic-inch V8 under the hood. Rumor says that Chevrolet execs didn't like having another two-seater sports car in the GM fold, especially one with a fiberglass body that held weight down to 2,200 pounds. GM execs took one look at the two concepts in 1965 and shut the project down. The two XP-833s lived in a garage for years, Collins and his colleague Bill Killen getting permission to buy the cars from GM in 1973 before Collins left to help engineer the DeLorean DMC-12. It wasn't until just before Collins departed that the XP-333 got the name Banshee.
