PHS DOCUMENTS IN HAND - REAL GTO RUST & ACCIDENT FREE SHEET METAL 1965 PONTIAC GTO COUPE The car is equipped the rebuilt original 389 V-8 engine. PHS says this car was built as a four barrel car. Upon restoration, a tri-power carb setup and ram air was added. Original factory M20 four speed and 3.23 rear end. Body has no accident damage ... the underside is as nice as the top !!! Junkyard Gem: 1992 Pontiac Sunbird convertible, with extremely rad W25 Appearance Package
Sun, Dec 22 2019Radwood has sparked a revival in the appreciation of goofy 1980s and 1980s automotive fashions, from neon-colored tape stripes to excessive TURBO badging to ads featuring horrifying Nagel-style women with radio faceplates instead of eyes. I see a lot of discarded cars that would have been ideal to bring to Radwood, and today's Junkyard Gem is even radder than, say, a purple Mercury Tracer Trio or a teal Chevy Beretta GT or even the elusive Dodge Daytona IROC R/T (yes, there were IROC Daytonas): a genuine Pontiac Sunbird SE convertible with the W25 Appearance Package and Bright White Star wheels. The W25 package got you a white Sunbird with kicky script badging, white wheels, and — if you opted for the optional 3.1-liter V6 — these candy-cane-influenced red-and-white displacement badges on the fenders. Now this is rad! The white interior got dirty fast, especially if the owner left the convertible top down, and these wheels were tough to keep clean for more than a few hours. This one appears to have spent many years sitting abandoned with the top down, judging by the completely trashed interior. The base engine for 1992 was the good old Cavalier four-banger, complete with 111 horsepower. This 3.1-liter engine made a respectable-for-1992 140 horses, for plenty of torque-steery, tire-squealy fun. As a J-Body car, the Sunbird was a sibling to the Chevrolet Cavalier in 1992 (the J-based Cadillac Cimarron, Oldsmobile Firenza, and Buick Skyhawk departed before the end of the 1980s). Starting in 1994, the Pontiac Sunfire replaced the Sunbird, continuing in production all the way through the demise of the J platform in 2005. This content is hosted by a third party. Junkyard Gem: 1991 Pontiac 6000 LE
Sat, Dec 2 2017Sibling to the Chevrolet Celebrity and Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, the Pontiac 6000 sold pretty well during the early-to-middle 1980s, but had been relegated to the dealership bargain bin and fleet-car cul-de-sac by the time of Operation Desert Shield. Here's a final-year-of-manufacture 6000 LE that I photographed in an Arizona self-service wrecking yard. This car was sold new in Arizona, and it will be crushed in the same state, 26 years later. The LE was the cheapest trim level for the 6000 in 1991, but the original purchaser of this car sprang for a few options. For example, instead of the utterly miserable 2.5-liter Iron Duke four-cylinder, this car packs the 3.1-liter V6. That meant 140 horsepower instead of 110, plus an engine note more like a vacuum cleaner sucking up a spaghetti spill than an ailing blender chewing on walnuts. AM, FM, and cassette. BMX rider flips for wrecked Detroit football stadium
Fri, Jun 12 2015Detroit is littered with derelict ruins. Abandoned automotive assembly plants, sure – but also former sports venues, like Tiger Stadium in Corktown, Roesink Stadium in Hamtramck, and the Silverdome in Pontiac. BMX rider Tyler Fernengel remembers going to see the Lions and Pistons play at the Silverdome in his youth, and competed there in Supercross as a boy. The stadium hasn't been used in years, but now, with his career just picking up, Tyler has returned to film this video – riding through its halls, jumping its stairwells and flipping over its grandstands and field.
