This car has been very well taken care of. The tires on the car are Michelin and have barely 1000 miles on them. The car is a Sport Coupe (post car), of which there were only 7,029 made compared to 65,176 regular hardtops. It is also a factory 4 speed Hurst edition car (with Hurst logo on trunk). It has its original rear end which is a 3.23 YF coded one, correct for an AC car with a 4 speed. It also came from the factory with Front Disc Brakes (which included Power Brakes) and many options such as Air Conditioning, Power Steering, 8-Track Player (w/ the original 8 Track tape given when a car came with that option), Hood Tach, Console, and console mounted Vacuum Gauge. All of which are on the PHS documentation proving they were original to the car.The car's interior was all taken out with new factory correct carpet and seat covers put in and a new headliner installed. All the floors and trunk are solid with no rust. I love cars with a vinyl top but it is always a dangerous option due to the fact that they can harbor water causing rust, the top was removed and metal underneath sanded and coated with a rust inhibiting coating, then a new factory correct vinyl top put back on matching the original seams and grain. The car had a repaint about 5 years ago according to the last owner. I also have a half full can of the paint for touch-ups and color matching if ever necessary. Both front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed to a mirror shine with zero rust on them. The engine was rebuilt with hardened valve seats, and all new seals etc. It was not changed from its original specs. It also comes with its original Rochester Quadrajet carb on top that was completely rebuilt and parts re-plated etc.The brakes have been worded on with new pads and lines then put on a new master cylinder  and brake booster. The engine has the correct original High Flow manifolds that came with H.O. motor cars. All of the brackets, pulleys, fan, etc. media blasted then powder coated the correct semi-gloss GM black. The radiator is a 4 core unit and was re-cored during the restoration. All hoses are new.New water pump.     The valve covers were re-chromed and a new reproduction of the original oil breather installed (AC Oil stamped on top). New spark plugs, coil, and wires along with reproduction wire brackets that attach to the valve covers and hold all them in place like they were from the factory.  New engine, dash and A/C wire harness replaced to make sure there were no shorts or electrical problems. It got all new AC components (Condenser, Evaporator, All lines, Drier and Muffler) with the exception of the compressor which I had rebuilt since it was original and even has the "OK" yellow factory stamp still on it. The power steering didn't need any work just a fluid flush and still works great. A new fuel pump and oil pump put in. The car also has a new battery and new battery cables for ease of starting. The trunk has a new hound’s-tooth mat with original Jack (media blasted and painted correct colors) and spare tire. New stainless pipes from the exhaust manifolds back to the tips

Saturn Vue ignition switch leads to new group of GM recalls totaling 312k

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

General Motors has another spate of recalls to announce. This time they cover 312,280 vehicles worldwide, including 269,041 of in the US, in a total of six campaigns. In 2014, the automaker has recalled 29,079,765 vehicles worldwide, with 25,754,356 of those in the US.
The largest among them covers 215,243 units of the Saturn Vue from 2002-2004 model years worldwide, 202,115 in the US. It's possible for the for the key to be removed even when the ignition isn't in the OFF position. The company knows of two crashes and one injury caused by this problem. Dealers are checking the parts and replacing the ignition cylinder and key set, if necessary.
Next is 72,826 models worldwide (48,059 vehicles in the US) of the 2013 Cadillac ATS four-door sedan, 2013 Buick Encore and 2013 Chevy Trax in Canada. It's possible that the for lap belt pretensioner to retract but not to lock, which could increase occupant movement during a crash. Both front, outboard lap belt pretensioners are being replaced, and a stop-sale is in effect on unsold models until the problem is repaired. There are no known crashes or injuries, though.

Pontiac Aztek enjoys rebirth thanks to Millennials

Fri, Sep 11 2015

Apparently, Millennials – those between 18 and 34 – aren't afraid to look different on the road, and they like performance, too. A new study by Edmunds is discovering some surprising vehicle choices by this group. Among them, the long-derided Pontiac Aztek is getting a new day in the sun with 25.5 percent its buyers coming from this generation in the first half of 2015. For comparison, Millennials represent an average of 16.8 percent of used car purchases. The Aztek is slowly shaking its reputation as a styling abomination, which seems tied to its appearance on Breaking Bad. The show premiered in 2008, and the Pontiac has been on this list for four of the past five years, according to Edmunds. It even led the pack in 2010. A recent Retro Review from MotorWeek also showed that the crossover wasn't always so hated. While it's still a shock to see the Aztek on any popularity list, the awkward-looking crossover only ranks sixth among Millennials. The vehicle with the biggest portion of buyers from the generation is the Dodge Magnum with 27.6 percent. According to Edmunds, the bluntly styled wagon is especially popular in Detroit and Chicago. The Chrysler Pacifica comes in a close second at 27.3 percent. When it comes to used cars, value and utility appear to trump just about anything else for many Millennial buyers," Edmunds analyst Jeremy Acevedo said in the report. Young buyers aren't afraid of sporty rides, either. The Subaru WRX has 26.4 percent Millennial buyers to rank third place on the list, and the Volkswagen R32 takes fifth at 25.7 percent. Just a few points lower in seventh place is the Nissan GT-R at 25.4 percent, and the final performance machine in 10th place is the Lexus IS-F with 24.7 percent. Related Video:

2023 Grand National Roadster Show Mega Photo Gallery | Hot rod heaven

Wed, Feb 8 2023

POMONA, Calif. — From an outsider's perspective, it would be easy to assume that the Grand National Roadster Show has always been a Southern California institution. After all, it celebrates the diverse postwar car culture of the region — hot rods, lead sleds, lowriders, and more. However, the show had its roots in NorCal in 1950 when Al Slonaker and his hot rod club showed their custom cars at the Oakland Expo. The GNRS moved to Pomona, California, in 2004. By then it had grown exponentially and seen about a dozen more car customization trends come and go. However, the show and its centerpiece award, the America's Most Beautiful Roadster prize, celebrate what is perhaps the first of those trends: the American hot rod in its purest form. Today, in its 73rd year, the GNRS is the oldest indoor car show in America. Annually it welcomes 500-800 cars, gathered into special themes like Tri-Five Chevys or Volkswagen Bugs. At this year's show, which was last weekend, a special hall was dedicated to pickup trucks built between 1948-98, including mini-trucks, groovy camper bed conversions, and resto-mods.  However, of all the vehicles presented, only nine are eligible for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award. Winners get their names engraved on a 9-foot-tall perpetual trophy that was, according to The Ultimate Hot Rod Dictionary, the largest in the world when it debuted in 1950. Slonaker chose the word "roadster" initially because "hot rod" bore slightly negative outlaw connotations in 1950. Only American cars built before 1937 of certain body styles — roadsters, roadster pickups, phaetons, touring cars — are eligible, and they cannot have roll-down side windows.  Cars in the running for the cup cannot have been shown anywhere else before their debut at the GNRS.  Contestants for this accolade essentially build their cars to the a platonic ideal of a hot rod. This year the honors went to Jack Chisenhall of San Antonio, Texas, for his "Champ Deuce," a 1932 Ford Roadster. It's exactly what you picture when you think of a hot rod, but distilled to its absolute essence.  Other standouts included "Green Eyes," a two-tone green 1959 Chevy El Camino  with a heavily metal-flaked bed, "Blue Monday," a 1964 Buick Riviera lowrider, and a personal favorite, "Purple Reign," a purple and black 1951 Mercury. Cars may have started out as tools, but there aren't shows like this filled with custom refrigerators.
