This is a 2005 Pontiac GTO with red exterior and black leather interior. It has 13,0xx original miles and is in like new condition. The interior and exterior is all original with no accidents. It has power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, rear defrost, Blaupunkt factory CD radio, power seats, cruise control, 6 speed manual transmission, and AC. The engine is a 6.0 L Corvette LS2. This is the stock engine in the GTO and is all original. It has 400hp and 400 Lbft of torque. The car will come 100% stock.

It is kept in my garage and is not driven in the rain. The body, chassis, and interior are in new condition and even the underneath and inside the wheels have been detailed. The original floor mats are included but have always had another set of large rubber mats covering them. The driver's seat is perfect with no creases and has had a blanket covering it. All the leather was treated every month or so using Lexol Leather Preservative.

It has been immaculately maintained with the oil changed every year at approximately every 1,500 miles. Only fully Synthetic oil (either Mobil 1 or Castrol 5W-30) was used and K&N or WIX filters were installed at every oil change. The brake fluid was flushed three times (the last time was within the last 6 months) using Super Dot 4 Synthetic Clutch and Brake Fluid. The clutch fluid has been replaced three times as well (the last time within the last 6 months) with GM Super Dot 4 Synthetic Clutch and Brake Fluid. The transmission fluid was replaced 6 months ago using Dextron III and it was properly filled to the right level and not overfilled. The power steering fluid was also replaced 6 months ago with Synthetic fluid. The rear differential fluid was replaced with Torco 85W-140 RGO gear oil and the proper ford type-F cone style anti-slip additive was used. The cooling system was drained, flushed twice with distilled water and refilled with Dexcool and distilled water (mixed to 50/50). I also added a bottle of Redline water wetter. Both were done about 6 months ago. Only 93 octane fuel was used and for the past two years only ethanol-free gas has been used.

The pictures of the car show some additional items installed including: 18" 2006 GTO wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires 245/40/18, Carbon Fiber SAP style Grills, Corsa Catback Exhaust, Vararam Cold-Air Intake, and Powerstop slotted/cross-drilled rotors with pads. All of these are easily bolt-on/off. These are currently on the car I will remove prior to the sale. I enjoy the car with these and will continue to periodically drive the car on nice weekends. I intend to sell the car with the original components that I removed and preserved, but I am open to negotiating them into the price. The original 17" wheels and tires are in excellent condition as are the original brake rotors and pads. Both have 12,500 miles on them.

This is truly a nice GTO that can be used to show. The reason I am selling is because I have too many cars that do not get driven enough with my busy work schedule. I have a car lift at my house so it would be very easy to do a thorough inspection. I am located in Knoxville, TN and can be contacted at 865-384-6318.

If you are not happy with the car after seeing it you are not committed to purchase this vehicle and any deposits provided will be refunded.  I am very confident that any buyer will be satisfied with the condition.  In addition, I reserve the right to sell this car locally.

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Pontiac Safari Station Wagon

Tue, Aug 9 2016

During the 1960s and 1970s, station wagons based on full-sized Detroit sedans were the default family haulers, and many of those Kingswood Estates and Country Squires and Ambassadors came with unapologetically phony woodgrain-printed exterior paneling and trim. By the late 1980s, however, few were snapping up such wagons, making this '87 Safari that I spotted in a Denver yard an interesting find. Power for this wagon came from a 307-cubic-inch Oldsmobile V8 making 140 horsepower. General Motors used this engine in Buicks, Oldsmobiles, Chevrolets, Pontiacs, and Cadillacs, finally discontinuing production for the 1990 model year. Was the "wood" convincing, even when new? Of course not, but it was a cherished American tradition. Related Video: Featured Gallery 1987 Pontiac Safari station wagon in Colorado junkyard View 18 Photos Auto News Pontiac station wagon

Drive plays Smokey, Bandit with turbo Trans Am

Sun, Jun 28 2015

The modern trend for powertrains can be summed up with the simple maxim: cut displacement and add forced induction. Whether you are looking at the just-introduced 2016 Chevrolet Cruze or a BMW M3, this adage holds true. However, Pontiac's attempt at the idea goes all the way back in 1980 with the Firebird Trans Am and its turbocharged 4.9-liter V8. Drive's Mike Musto takes out a 1981 example to explain what makes this largely forgotten muscle car so special, and it certainly isn't performance. While a 4.9-liter V8 might sound like a lot in the modern world, keep in mind that only few years before the second-generation Trans Am was available with up to a staggering 7.5-liters of displacement. Turbocharging of road cars in the early '80s was quite archaic by today's standards, and the Firebird only managed around 200 horsepower with this mill. Without much go, the turbo Trans Am made up for a lack of power with lots of show. As Musto points out, the famous flaming chicken adorns practically every surface you can see on the coupe, and boost lights on the hood illuminate when the turbo is spinning. Musto still finds a lot to like about the turbo Trans Am. He even calls it "Burt Reynolds as an automobile." Find out why the coupe is so special in this entertaining clip.

700 horsepower Porsche GT2 RS is the wildest 911 ever

Fri, Jun 30 2017

The Porsche 911 comes in a variety of flavors, each filling a certain taste for a certain customer. Sitting atop the range is the new 911 GT2 RS. In previous generations, the GT2 had a bit of a reputation as a widowmaker, a 911 with massive power that could snap and bite with the slightest agitation. Porsche says the new model has been civilized, but with 700 horsepower going to the rear wheels, we're sure it's going to be as mad as ever. Power comes from a highly massaged version of the 3.8-liter flat-six from the 911 Turbo S. The rear-mounted engine makes an outrageous 700 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Like we previously reported, the new car will use water injection to help keep things cool. The only transmission is Porsche's PDK. While enthusiasts may lament the loss of the manual, the RS models have always been about performance above all else. Simply put, the PDK is the better performance option. All that power translates to a 0-60 mph time of 2.7 seconds and a top speed of 211 mph. The engine makes 80 more horsepower than the previous model. That makes it the most powerful road-going 911 ever built. In fact, the 887 horsepower 918 Spyder is the only road-going Porsche that makes more power. The fact that Porsche trusts all of that power to go to the rear is both thrilling and terrifying at the same time. In order to manage traction, the GT2 RS gets a number of upgrades. Rear-wheel steering has become commonplace in the 911 lineup, so it's no surprise to see it here. Sticky tires with 265/35 ZR 20 section rubber at the front and 325/30 ZR 21 section rubber at the rear keep things planted. That comically large rear wing adds downforce, adding to stability. The car gets standard carbon ceramic brakes. While some people prefer traditional rotors for the street, like the PDK, this is all about performance. A number of intakes and outlets complement the rear wing and maximize aerodynamic efficiency. It's a bit of a surprise that with all the focus on downforce, the GT2 RS still manages to top out at 211 mph. The hood, front wings, wheel housing vents, door mirrors, side air intakes, parts of the rear end, and a number of interior components are all made from carbon fiber. The roof has been made of magnesium. If you want to drop any pretense of civility and comfort in the pursuit of speed, Porsche is offering a Weissach package that shaves off another 40 pounds from the already impressive wet weight of 3,241.
