Up for sale is my 2004 Pontiac GTO. Nice car needing a new home as I need to finish up a few around the house projects so something has to go....

I purchased this car from the person that fixed the damage that was caused by an inexperienced driver on wet roads. The person spun around on the blacktop and slid into another vehicle. Damage was done to the left front corner of the car. They replaced the left fender, inner fender, bumper cover and purchased a functional ram air hood at the same time. Very nice addition. The air bags did NOT deploy. After it was repaired,it was inspected at Vehicle Safety in Albany,NY and was issued a clean bill of health. It has been driven for 3 years since with no issues. It hasn't been driven in the Winter.......
The body is in good shape for the year. It has a few scuffs and paint chips from normal wear but NO RUST!! Underneath is very clean also........Paint shines nice. The interior is in nice shape with just normal wear. No holes in the seats, etc. and it is clean and free from odors,etc......non-smoker car. Has a Pioneer DVD/CD player with navigation but that's the only thing changed....even has original floor mats. It is fully loaded and all options work.
The GTO has 87kmi. on it and will go up until it's sold. I drive it every day and have put 9,000 miles on it in the last few months! It's very reliable and comfortable to drive! Good on gas as well!!! The LS1 engine runs perfect with plenty of power and no leaks, noises, etc. The 6 speed shifts good and there are no unusual noises in the drivetrain. Car has long tube headers and catless mid pipes so it sounds good but not loud....Only other mods are the ram air hood and cold air intake kit.....The brakes are slotted and drilled rotors and just developed a slight pulsation when applied at higher speeds.......alot of pad left but may need to have the rotors turned? That's the only mechanical issue that I can think of that may need attention. It has always had Mobil 1 synthetic oil changes.........The GTO is fun to drive!!
Buyer to pay a non-refundable deposit of $500 within 48 hours of sale, immediately with Buy It Now option. Balance is due within 5 days of sale. I accept Paypal,mo's or cash in person. Bank checks are fine also but car stays here until all payments clear..........NO EXCEPTIONS to these terms!!!
If you are local, stop by and check it out in person. I am in Queensbury,NY 12804. Exit 18 off I 87....45miles North of Albany.  Buyer is responsible for picking up the car or having it shipped. I will arrange to meet the shipper if needed. The vehicle is described to the best of my ability and is sold AS IS......

'We're not a hedge fund': Porsche plans to curtail speculators and flippers

Tue, May 30 2017

A sizable number of speculators view cars as an investment. Rare or unusual models are quickly snapped up and either parked for years or flipped for a profit. Cars from automakers like Porsche and Ferrari are more prone than others, and at least some people behind these models are getting a bit tired of it. While it's difficult to police what goes on after you sell a car, Porsche has some plans that might curtail the problem before it starts. Andreas Preuninger, the head of GT road-car development and the man behind the new 911 GT3, spoke to Car and Driver at a recent event. "I personally like to see my cars being used," he said. "That's what we build them for. They are just too good to be left to stand and collect dust." One recent example of this rampant speculation is the 911 R. While the special manual-only model sold for $185,950 when new, used versions were selling for nearly $1.3 million just months after it went on sale. While the car is a masterpiece and an instant classic, a good number will be parked and simply used as art and not the rolling testaments to the man/machine interface they were intended to be. The concern over valuations has become so fierce that some owners are upset that Porsche is offering the new 911 GT3 with a manual transmission, fearing that it may hurt the value of the 911 R. "When I said we're not a hedge fund, I'm talking to those people who are yelling at us for offering the manual transmission similar to the R," Preuninger said. "But if there are people wanting to buy cars like that, then as a company we should try to fulfill that, to meet that demand." It seems Porsche is keeping a close eye on who is flipping cars. Since there is often far more demand than supply with certain models, the German automaker has a name for every car before it's built. Buyers with bad reputations might not even make the wait list. Junkyard Gem: 1968 Pontiac Catalina sedan

Wed, Aug 14 2019

During the late 1960s, General Motors ruled the American car landscape, growing so dominant that the federal government considered antitrust action to break up the company. The General offered sporty Corvettes and muscular GTOs and rugged pickups and opulent Fleetwoods, sure, but the fat part of the sales numbers came from the bread-and-butter full-sized sedans and coupes, which boasted superior engineering and modern-looking styling; in 1967 alone, the Chevrolet Division moved 972,600 full-sized cars, and that's not even counting the 155,100 full-sized Chevy station wagons that year. Pontiac, Buick and Oldsmobile sold the same big cars with division-specific engines and bodywork, and they flew off the showroom floors. For 1968, the entry-level full-sized car from Pontiac was the Catalina, and I've found an example of the most affordable version of the most affordable big Pontiac for 1968, discarded in a northeastern Colorado wrecking yard about 50 miles south of Cheyenne, Wyoming. A '68 GM full-sized coupe, convertible, or even a four-door hardtop might be worth the cost and effort of a restoration, but a no-options base-trim-level post sedan with rust and plenty of body filler just won't get many takers these days. Like so many vehicles that sit outside for decades on the High Plains, this one is full of rodent nests. I wouldn't want to work on the interior of this car without a respirator and a lot of work with a shop-vac, because hantavirus is a significant danger in these parts. Alfred Sloan's plan to offer a stepladder of prestige for GM buyers, in which your first new car was a Chevrolet and you moved up through Pontiac, Oldsmobile, and Buick until you became sufficiently prosperous for Cadillac ownership, worked brilliantly for decades. In 1968, the Catalina was a notch above its Impala sibling on the Snob-O-Meter, with the sedan starting at $3,004 (about $22,600 in 2019 dollars). In fact, the V8-equipped 1968 Chevrolet Impala sedan listed at $3,033, and the Oldsmobile Delmont 88 went for $3,146, so the lines were beginning to blur between the relative positions of the lower-end GM divisions by this time. The base engine in the 1968 Catalina was a 400-cubic-inch (6.5 liter) V8 rated at 265 horsepower and enough torque to tow an aircraft carrier.

Burt Reynolds' old Pontiac Trans Am replica sold for $317,500

Thu, Jun 20 2019

Following Burt Reynolds' passing last September, Julien's Auctions held an estate sale of the late actor's property on June 15-16 in Beverly Hills, Calif. Hundreds of items were included in the auction, but none more valuable than the Pontiac Trans Am Bandit replica previously owned by Reynolds. It easily surpassed expectations when it sold for $317,500. Julien's, the self-proclaimed experts in contemporary and pop culture, listed 876 pieces in the sale, from cowboy boots to a driver's license to scripts. The online preview said it estimated a range of prices from $25 to $200,000. They were way off. Item No. 716 was a replica of a Pontiac Trans Am Bandit that was seen in the original "Smokey and the Bandit." Not the real car, just a re-creation. But its value comes more from who owned the ride rather than what the car was. The replica was owned by Reynolds for some years, and now that he's passed, it's coveted even more. It's not the only Trans Am item that sold at auction. Three Reynolds Trans Am model cars sold for $640, $576 and $512. A Reynolds-signed "Bandit" poster sold for $3,200. A Reynolds-signed poster from the Trans Am plant sold for $1,562.50, a Reynolds custom-built Trans Am office desk sold for $4,375, and a "Smokey and the Bandit" decorative etched glass panel sold for $896. This isn't the first time a Bandit replica has sold for big money. In 2016, a promotional Trans Am sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction for $550,000. We also believe the exact car sold in this Julien's auction was previously bought at a Barrett-Jackson auction in 2018 for $192,500. If that's the case, somebody just made an extremely easy profit.
