Hello to all ebayers,...PLEASE READ.....

.....As with this auction and ALL OTHERS I'll be listing in the next several weeks each listing will start with a reasonable starting price and come with NO RESERVE!!! If there is only one bid per listing, that bidder will own the item for the starting price period!

.....up for your consideration and/or bid is a 1968 REAL GTO either as a parts car or an aggressive and serious full-out restoration project car. I'll do the best I can to list all the "pros and cons" of this GTO. The best thing is that the Pontiac is a REAL GTO and not a clone, recreation, tribute or fake,...furthermore it has the popular hide-away headlight option and the original GTO neoprene front bumper.  Additionally this GTO has the factory front DISC brake option versus the standard drum set-up, please be advised that the calipers are missing. The GTO also came equipped with a neat and unusual feature for the era called REAR DEFROST.  The rear defrost grille is in place with the factory cut out, but the electric motor is long gone,...however the original rear defrost chrome metal dash switch is still in place and factory wired.  For those not informed, rear defrost in the early days was an electric motor blowing hot air on to the glass,.....NOT as the rear defrost ((we are all used to of today)) with the "hot wires" embedded in the glass.

The frame is very good to excellent in condition,...with only one bad spot of rust threw on the drivers side just past the rear-end, (not a structural/strength issue).  This one small area could be cut out and replaced.  I have posted photos of the frame because it's one of the good points of this GTO that's lost most of its original glory.  Besides the GTO itself, additionally 2 EXTRA PARTS come with the GTO,...a front valance panel that has a few dents and bends but is restore-able,...also one additional passenger front fender ((came from a Lemans/Tempest)) that also has some rust/dent issues but is also very restore-able.  Email me if interested and I can send you additional pictures that I could not include on ebay because of the limit of 24 pictures for private sellers,...((only dealers can post more than 24 pictures on one listing)).  These additional pictures not posted on ebay show the rear defrost previously mentioned, another view of the front valance panel, another photo of the extra passenger fender ((inside)) showing the solid fender lip that bolts to the inner liner)) and additional frame pictures.

The VIN is original and in place as FACTORY INSTALLED back in 1968,...UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NO BODY TAG,...someone removed it years ago before I acquired it.  The floorboards,...((front and rear)) would need to be replaced...and ((as it is at the current time)) would not support very much weight.

Threw many credible sources I've learned that all GTO VINs start with the numbers 242, research this for your own edification. The obvious bad part of this GTO is the condition, the lack of the original drive train, no body tag, bent/rusted sheet metal.
The GTO's suspension is completely free-rolling all the way around and not seized.  I've had the GTO since 2004, prior to this it was in an old auto junk yard from approximately the late '70s/early '80s.  I have no idea what condition the rear-end or other components are in and the winning bidder should expect that any and all components will need a rebuilding from sitting for years.  What you see is what you get...sorry, I do not have any doors, hood, trunk lid or interior parts,.....however the high bidder does get one extra front valance panel and passenger fender as mentioned earlier, ((see pictures)).

I've stated all that I know about this GTO as factual as possible.
Due to the age and amount of sitting for years, this GTO does not come with any guarantees or warranties expressed or implied and is sold as is where is.  For the winning bidder I offer FREE delivery BUT only if you are local and/or up to only 20 miles away. If you are 21-100 miles from the GTO I offer delivery for a fee of $1.00 per mile. I do not offer any delivery options over 100 miles and I certainly do not offer any long haul options from state to state either.  Any winning bidder that is in the "over 100 mile category" it is up to you to make shipping arrangements and of course all transportation and shipping costs are the expense of you...((the winning high bidder)). At my discretion, I may extend the free delivery from 21-100 miles if the GTO reaches a dollar amount I deem acceptable. Should you use your own trailer/equipment to pick up the GTO,...I offer FREE loading assistance to you with my Rollback and equipment,...or I'll assist the carrier of your choice ((should you hire one)),...also FREE of charge .

PLEASE NOTE;...the state of Maine does not/will not issue a title for ANY automobile/vehicle of 1995 or prior. I do not have a title and the (GTO) comes with a bill-of-sale as ownership. ADDITIONAL NOTE;...some states will not accept a bill-of-sale as ownership of a vehicle,...please check with your individual state. FOR THOSE PERSPECTIVE BIDDERS THAT FIT INTO THIS LAST CATEGORY,...please let me know and I can contact the state of Maine and they will issue a legal typed document for ALL 50 STATES and you can take THIS DOCUMENT / PAPERWORK to your state DMV you reside in and YOUR STATE will issue you a new title in YOUR STATE.  I've done this may of times before and this is the only perfectly legal way I know of for bidders from title-demanding states to get a title on a vehicle from a non-title issuing state.

I believe the pictures speak for them self, and what doesn't I've included in the typed description,........if you feel I have missed anything or you have any questions what so ever, please feel free to send me an email and I'll answer the question(s) asap. Upon the completion of the auction I ask that the winning bidder commit to the transaction with payment in the form of a $200.00 deposit within 48 hours and follow-up with full payment in 7 days, or contact me for additional time if needed.  If you have no intent of following threw with the complete payment of the auction item, please just don't bid and waste everyone's time playing games,...any non paying bidders will be reported to both ebay and all 3 major credit reporting agency's.

********KEEP WATCH,...a lot of interesting older ANTIQUE/CLASSIC AUTOS (1949-1985) better shape than this coming in the next several weeks/months,...ALL of which will start with a modest starting price w/ NO RESERVE!!!********

                                           .....thanks for looking, Bob.

The prized golden 1965 Pontiac Hurst GeeTO Tiger is headed to auction

Sat, Apr 4 2020

Once upon a time, a Pontiac advertising executive named Jim Wangers created a countrywide contest with this gorgeous 1965 Pontiac Hurst GTO serving as the grand prize. The contest was centered around "GeeTO Tiger," a song by musical artists The Tigers. A 19-year-old took home the golden muscle car at the time, but now anybody can buy the rare car through an upcoming Mecum auction.  As a way to boost sales and awareness of the Pontiac GTO and its performance parts, Wangers partnered up with Royal Pontiac, George Hurst, and Petersen Publishing in 1965 to create a contest. Royal provided the car, Hurst dressed it up, and Petersen distributed the contest in publications across the country.  In order to participate, people were asked to provide a reason why they wanted the car and identify how many times the word "tiger" was used in the promotional song "GeeTO Tiger" (pronounced G-Tee-Oh) by The Tigers. A 19 year-old kid named Alex Lampone from West Allis, Wisconsin, won the contest and took delivery of this jazzed-up GTO at the 1965 NHRA Indy Nationals.  This content is hosted by a third party. The Tigers - GeeTO Tiger The prize car was completely kitted out and described by Wangers as "the nicest GTO you could put your hands on." It had more than 28 factory options, including a black cordova top, power windows, power steering, power brakes, a tilt steering wheel, a power driver's seat, dual-speed windshield wipers, a custom sport steering wheel, a rally gauge cluster, a push-button AM/FM radio with power antenna, and a Verba phonic rear speaker. What makes it stand out is the Hurst-inspired gold theme, which includes gold paint, gold mag wheels, and a gold-plated Hurst Shifter. Under the hood, this GTO has a Tri-Power 389 V8 engine that pairs with a four-speed manual transmisison. It also has a 3.55 Safe-T-Track rear axle and dual exhaust. Throughout the years, this car has exchanged hands many times and has undergone a few changes. It's been repainted, and the engine has also been rebuilt, but Mecum says it's otherwise highly original. Ony 59,000 miles have turned over on the odometer.  The GeeTO Tiger Pontiac is scheduled to go up for auction in Indianapolis this June. Visit Mecum for more information. Drive plays Smokey, Bandit with turbo Trans Am

Sun, Jun 28 2015

The modern trend for powertrains can be summed up with the simple maxim: cut displacement and add forced induction. Whether you are looking at the just-introduced 2016 Chevrolet Cruze or a BMW M3, this adage holds true. However, Pontiac's attempt at the idea goes all the way back in 1980 with the Firebird Trans Am and its turbocharged 4.9-liter V8. Drive's Mike Musto takes out a 1981 example to explain what makes this largely forgotten muscle car so special, and it certainly isn't performance. While a 4.9-liter V8 might sound like a lot in the modern world, keep in mind that only few years before the second-generation Trans Am was available with up to a staggering 7.5-liters of displacement. Turbocharging of road cars in the early '80s was quite archaic by today's standards, and the Firebird only managed around 200 horsepower with this mill. Without much go, the turbo Trans Am made up for a lack of power with lots of show. As Musto points out, the famous flaming chicken adorns practically every surface you can see on the coupe, and boost lights on the hood illuminate when the turbo is spinning. Musto still finds a lot to like about the turbo Trans Am. He even calls it "Burt Reynolds as an automobile." Find out why the coupe is so special in this entertaining clip.

GM recalling another 1.3-million cars over power steering woes

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

When it rains, it pours. General Motors has announced yet another major recall, covering 1.3 million units in the American market over concerns that the power steering could suddenly fail. As reported by The Detroit News' David Shepardson, GM has now recalled nearly ten times as many cars as it did all of last year.
It's important to note that should this problem arise in these cars, the steering won't fail completely, however, power steering could suddenly stop functioning. Manual steering would still be possible, but as GM says, there's an increased risk of accidents, particularly at lower speeds.
Like the ignition switch recall, this latest problem covers a wide range of vehicles from Chevrolet, Saturn and Pontiac. Normally, we'd give you the full rundown in paragraph form, but the variety of models and model years means a list is just easier. So, have a look, directly from GM's press release:
