1972 Pontiac Gto Judge Clone on 2040-cars
Mandeville, Louisiana, United States
1972 Pontiac GTO JUDGE Clone I bought the four years ago as a decent driver. The car has a Pontiac 350ci engine and Pontiac 350 transmission. I have spent countless hours going through the entire undercarriage of the vehicle including the engine bay. Here is a list of things that I have completed. Pulled the engine out and inspected. Had the heads rebuilt. Installed all new engine gaskets, a new water pump, alternator, belts, hoses, HEI distributer, plugs and wires. The radiator was replaced shortly before I purchased the car. The car runs great with the Holley 670 Street Avenger Carb and Aluminum Edelbrock intake and headers . Also while the engine was out, smoothed the fire and painted. Stripped all the dirt and grim from the frame and other parts and painted gloss black. Upgraded the booster to an 8" chrome duel diaphragm and chromed aluminum master cylinder. All new stainless steel front brake lines were installed to handle the front disc brakes. The front suspension was completely cleaned or sandblasted then painted. All the shocks, bushings, ball joints, tie rods, sway bar bushings and end links were replaced. Also replaced the old worn out steering box and hoses with new ones. The wiper motor, pump and arms were replaced. The 350 transmission has been replaced with a rebuilt Pontiac 350 transmission. The U-joints were replaced shortly before I purchased the car. The rear end has been removed and inspected. The axle bearing were replaced. The posi center chunk with the 3.08 gears all looked in good order. The axle housing was cleaned and repainted and reinstalled with all new trailing arm and control arm bushings and new shocks. The rear drum brakes were completely rebuilt with all new hardware, drums, wheel cylinders and shoes. The fuel tank and sending unit were replaced with new. Still can't get the fuel gauge to work. The car is solid and the body is straight. The paint has some imperfections. It has some small scratches and minor bubbles behind two wheels. The interior is in great shape with no tears or rips. I have added a B &M shifter. I have 95% of the receipts for all parts spent on the car. I am asking $19,900. Clean title in hand. |

Junkyard Gem: 1991 Pontiac 6000 LE
Sat, Dec 2 2017Sibling to the Chevrolet Celebrity and Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, the Pontiac 6000 sold pretty well during the early-to-middle 1980s, but had been relegated to the dealership bargain bin and fleet-car cul-de-sac by the time of Operation Desert Shield. Here's a final-year-of-manufacture 6000 LE that I photographed in an Arizona self-service wrecking yard. This car was sold new in Arizona, and it will be crushed in the same state, 26 years later. The LE was the cheapest trim level for the 6000 in 1991, but the original purchaser of this car sprang for a few options. For example, instead of the utterly miserable 2.5-liter Iron Duke four-cylinder, this car packs the 3.1-liter V6. That meant 140 horsepower instead of 110, plus an engine note more like a vacuum cleaner sucking up a spaghetti spill than an ailing blender chewing on walnuts. AM, FM, and cassette. Not only that, but the auto-reverse feature meant that your mixtape cassette wouldn't stop right in the middle of your favorite Roxette tune. This content is hosted by a third party. Even the wretched Daewoo-built Pontiac LeMans gets more screen time than the forgotten 6000 in this 1991 TV ad featuring the voice of Captain Picard. GM recalls 61k more vehicles in three campaigns
Sun, 05 Oct 2014Following a stop-delivery order for its new midsize trucks and a rash of recent recalls, General Motors is issuing three more campaigns covering 60,575 vehicles in North America with 57,182 of them in the US. As of October 1, the automaker has issued a total of 74 recalls (see the ridiculously long chart to the right) this year covering 26,495,070 units in the US.
The largest campaign covers 46,873 examples in the US of the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle imported from Australia. It's possible for the driver's knee to hit the key and make it move from the "Run" to "ACC" position while driving. GM says its Holden division is developing a fixed-blade key that's supposed to fix the problem by only allowing it to rotate toward the "On" position. There has been one crash caused by this fault but no injuries or fatalities.
The second recall is for 10,005 units of the 2004-2007 Cadillac CTS-V and 2006-2007 Cadillac STS-V because "the fuel pump module electrical terminal may overheat." This can cause a flange to melt and allow the pump to leak fuel. GM specifies that the remedy for the CTS-V is replacing the fuel module and fuel tank jumper harness, but it doesn't specify how the STS-V is being repaired.
This GTO-El Camino mashup is the muscle truck of our dreams
Fri, Aug 31 2018There were a hell of a lot of great muscle cars in the mid-1960s, from the baroque Dodges and Plymouths of the earlier part of the decade to the wild big boys like the Boss 429 and Olds 442 W30. Right in the middle of the decade, two of the most iconic of the bunch emerged — the Pontiac GTO and second-generation Chevy El Camino. And this one is a 1964 Chevy El Camino with the heart and face of its GTO cousin, and dubbed the El Chieftain GTO. It's currently for sale at RM Sotheby's Auburn auction, with no reserve status or estimate listed. This looks like a product that Pontiac could have sold at the time — its builder, Ron Lindeman, did an excellent job making it look like a factory product, right down to the taillight strakes inspired by the GTO. It's powered by a 389 — a Pontiac motor that was actually found in period GTOs, but sporting a single four-barrel instead of the sexy Tri-Power setup. It is, however, equipped with a Hurst four-speed manual and the grille badge to prove it to bystanders. Even the interior is made up to look like a GTO. We wish there was more of a description of the build in the listing, but if you love it, do us one better and buy the thing and invite us to poke around it. We are very much in love with this muscle-truck mashup.
