Many of our photos of this American Musclecar were taken at the Dallas Love Field Frontiers of Flight Museum, located only minutes from our showroom. You can fly high or fly low in this menacing Pontiac GTO.

This transformed GTO began life as a true 242 GTO in the Atoll Blue color, matching interior, and a black cordova top as is indicated on the identa-plate. It was built in 1969 and delivered to Coast Pontiac in December, 1969. In the intervening years, it saw Bakersfield, Chatsworth, and Almeda, California. In the mid 2000, the car spent some time in Arizona before arriving it Texas where it was purchased by its current owner in 2007 Sometime in this journey, the grand old Goat was changed to a Cardinal Red & Judge graphics added. This was a clean, rust free, and numbers-matching survivor.

The current owner had a different vision for the car. He set about to make it one of kind with supreme drivability, while maintaining the classic '70 GTO look. He also wanted to maintain the number's viability of the car. The original matching number 400 c.i. engine was removed and put into storage, replaced with a professionally built 1970 455 big block you will read about soon. This engine goes with the car.  The car was lifted off the frame and the work began.

The exterior paint and trim was done by Picasso's of Ft. Worth, Texas in midnight black with one capful of respberry metal flake added per quart. Following this was 4 coats of clear. The paint is stunning in sunlight and under display lights at car shows. The body itself was excellent prior to the paint and body work. This has always been a dry climate GTO.

Handling prowess is greatly improved thanks to extensive suspension modifications. The entire suspension was removed and replaced with a heavy duty Hotchkis TVS tubular suspension. In addition, a close-ratio power steering box was added to tighten up control to the steering wheel. The wheels of choice are polished Ansen Sport wheels sized at 235/60R15 up front and 255/70R17 out back, wrapped in classic B.F. Goodrich Radial T/As.

This powerplant was machined, align-honed, balanced and blueprinted during the build. It was bored at .060 over and fitted with JE pistons. The cam of choice is a COMP CAMS 51-223-4 complete with all recommended parts. The cylinder headers were rebuilt and hardened valve, guides, etc. were installed. A March Serpentine Belt system has been installed to connect all of the chromed components, along with many more unique features. To enhance the look under the hood, the firewall was blanked and the old style air conditioning compressor was replaced with a polished gen 3 unit from Cool Air of Ft. Worth, Texas.  The controls for the A/C were adapted to tie to the original Pontiac levers and switches. The alternator, power steering pump resevoir, and water pump are chromed. The hoses were replaced with stainless steel braided units. All brake, fuel, and other fluid lines are stainless or chromed and meticulously attached to the frame to ensure they stay in place. Also, the battery was re-located to the trunk and a there is a hidden master kill switch. An MSD 6AL provides the spark duties. Induction is courtesy of a Demon 650 carburetor atop an aluminum Edelbrock intake. Custom ceramic-coated headers flow through a custom dual exhaust system.

There is a lot of detail throughout this GTO.

This engine shows very well and the car performs the same. The transmission of choice is a built TH400 automatic with hardened components to handle the increased horsepower and toque. To further increase driveability and performance, a Gear Vendor, model 3D400, 750 horsepower over/underdrive was added. This is a very special item. When engaged, the underdrive fucntion turns the Mosier 342 Truetrac (33-spline) into a 451. Equally amazing is the fact that when the overdrive function is engaged at 75 to 80mph, the RPM's drop from approximately 3,750 to 1,900. This lets you cruise down the highway at about 75mph and still get 14 miles per gallon. Should you decide to pass, hit the discreetly located spitter swtich on the floor next to the headlight dimmer. From the transmission to the rear end is an extra heavy duty drive shaft specially fabricated to accommodate the Gear Vendor apparatus. Again, the owner retained the original matching numbers transmission that will be included.

The interior has been restored in Pontiac 254 red, all padding and materials replaced. the combination of the red interior, black paint and judge graphics is striking to say the least. Before any of this was done, the car was fitted with Dynamat Extreme insulation throughout every piece of metal in the cabin except the firewall.

Since completion, the car has been entered in one show, the Dallas, Texas 2010 Muscle on Muscle event, where it took Best of Show.

This is a beautiful interior. The bucket seating is paired with a factory center console. The dash displays the correct gauges along with part of the extensive sound system, the Alpine CDA head unit tucked in the glove box. Before this car was painted and re-worked, extreme steps were taken to ensure the sound system would be fully enjoyed.

Woman Cleared In Fatal Car Wreck After GM Letter

Tue, Nov 25 2014

A Texas judge cleared a woman Monday for a car accident that killed her fiance in 2004, after General Motors acknowledged that her car would have been among millions being recalled for a problem that may have contributed to the death. Candice Anderson was driving a 2004 Saturn Ion when it suddenly veered off a road about 60 miles east of Dallas and slammed into a tree. Anderson, then 21, was severely injured when the car's air bags failed to deploy. Her 25-year-old fiance, Gene Erikson, who was a passenger, was killed. She later pleaded guilty to charges stemming from the wreck. But during a hearing Monday, State District Judge Teresa Drum expunged the conviction from her record, according to officials in the Van Zandt County court andAnderson's attorney, Bob Hilliard. In a letter given to the court ahead of the hearing, an attorney for the automaker confirmed that Anderson's Saturn would have been among 2.6 million GM vehicles recalled in February to address ignition switches that can slip out of the "run" position, causing the engines to stall and disabling power steering, brakes and air bags. Anderson's crash "is one in which the recall condition may have caused or contributed to the frontal air bag non-deployment in the accident," attorney Richard C. Godfrey wrote. Hilliard provided a copy of the letter to The Associated Press, and Godfrey confirmed its contents Monday. Anderson was initially charged with criminally negligent homicide because there was no clear explanation at the time why the wreck occurred, according to court documents from the case. She pleaded guilty to a letter charge in 2006, and was sentenced to five years' probation. She also was ordered to perform 260 hours of community service, pay court costs and cover the costs of Erikson's funeral. "GM knew this defect caused this death, yet instead of telling the truth watched silently as Candice was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter," Hilliard said Monday. "It took 10 years for GM to find its voice." In a separate statement issued by the company, GM said it "cooperated fully by providing technical information that was requested to make a decision in this matter." The carmaker also said the issue in Anderson's case was for local law enforcement and courts to consider. "That's why we took a neutral position on Ms. Anderson's case," the company's statement said. "It was appropriate for the court to determine the legal status of Ms.

There's a 'Knight Rider' movie in development

Mon, Aug 17 2020

James Wan, who has directed films from the first "Saw" to "Aquaman," with "Furious 7" in between, and produced even more projects, is producing a new Knight Rider movie according to a report in Deadline. Just in case there's a reader who doesn't know, Knight Rider was one of the seminal trio of iconic-car shows from the 1980s, along with "The Dukes of Hazzard" and "Miami Vice." The series lasted 90 episodes that ran from 1982 to 1986, following the crime-fighting exploits of Michael Knight, a man who crusaded for justice after being shot in the face. Billionaire Walton Knight hired Michael to work with the Knight Foundation, where Michael helps develop the Knight Industries Two Thousand, a Pontiac Trans-Am with AI that can talk, drive more than 200 miles per hour, and could teach MI6's Q Branch about gadgetry. Collider described David Hasselhof's Michael Knight as "crimefighter by trade and wearing-a-leather-jacket-with-no-shirt-underneath innovator by hobby." The show made such an impression that there was a series spinoff called "Code of Justice," two TV movies in 1991 and 1994, a convention called KnightCon, and a series reboot on NBC that lasted for one season from 2008 to 2009, as well as stores full of action figures and models and literature, YouTube fan-made trailers and movies, and this wacky German-dubbed short "Knight Rider" film starring Hasselhoff. We don't know anything about the new movie's plot yet, other than that it's set in the present. T.J. Fixman, better known for now as a video game writer who worked on franchises like "Ratchet and Clank" and "Resistance: Fall of Man," has been attached to write, with a mandate to keep "the anti-establishment tone of the original." With matters still early in development there's no telling when the movie will hit theaters, and Wan's probably got his hands busy with the new MacGuyver reboot for CBS, anyway. Now that there's already been a Knight Industries 2000 and 3000, that gives us plenty of time to imagine — in a world where 200-mph hypercars powered by everything sprout like weeds and even Cannonballers are using military-like equipment — what would a Knight Industries Four Thousand possess? And would it be called KIFT? Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Mon, 20 Jun 2011

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
