1970 Pontiac GTO -- $48,900.00
Introduction
Hello, I’m Marc Schiliro the owner of MS CLASSIC CARS,LLC.  You might recognize my name or my business name from beautiful classic cars and trucks I’ve listed for sale nationally.  I’ve got over 15 years of classic car and truck experience.  I’d like to put that experience to work for you. Over the years I’ve featured many classic cars and trucks at multiple different auctions across the United States. I consign multiple classic cars and trucks at all four of the Barrett Jackson auto auctions every year. I’m considered one of the top consignors at Barrett Jackson.  I’ve had many classic cars and trucks sell in the top 25 highest sale priced vehicles for each event.  They’ve also offered some of my cars as the “Marc Schiliro Collection”. I was fortunate to have Speed TV at my new facility for an interview for Barrett Jackson that aired during the Barrett Jackson auto auction in Palm Beach 2012.  I’m a regular consignor at the Mecum auctions as well.  I also have had many cars that have been featured in multiple magazines and multiple websites.  I specialize in beautiful classic cars and trucks that have what I call “The Pop Factor”. I purchase classic cars and trucks that are finished, I redesign other people’s restorations and have also coordinated restorations from start to finish.  I’m currently not doing full restorations as it takes too much time and money.  I love what I do and I’m extremely passionate about it!

Two years ago I opened a beautiful new facility located in Seekonk, MA.  MS CLASSIC CARS is open to the public on Saturdays.  We offer about 25 classic cars and trucks for sale. We also offer complete automotive detailing.  Our facility is very neat and organized.  When you call you deal directly with me. I appreciate the opportunity.  We except all trades.  If you’d like to be added to our VIP EMAIL BLAST that gets sent to thousands of people when we get a new addition please visit my website and sign up.  Please also like us on Facebook for updates.  The power of networking is amazing!

Market
I've been collecting classic cars and trucks for over fifteen years now and have seen a lot happen. I've seen the hobby continue to grow not only at the auctions but also with the amount of television shows, magazines and websites that are related to classic cars in some form or another. I strongly believe the classic car market is a great place to invest in. When the economy is strong, the classic car market is extremely strong. When the economy isn't so strong the classic car market holds its own. I've sold classic cars and trucks in both economic conditions. The reason classic cars make such a great investment is because people are crazy about cars, especially the classics! I've learned it's not just the United States; it’s the entire world. Barrett Jackson stated, "Foreigners can sometimes represent 25% of the registered bidders at one of our auctions." At the Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale, AZ 2011 they stated, "There was a registered bidder from every state in the USA.” I've also learned that no matter the gender or age, all different people appreciate this hobby. Another example would be the Barrett Jackson auto auctions; not only do millions of people watch it live on the Speed Channel but hundreds of thousands of people attend these auctions. Every year the attendance of visitors at the event and number of viewers on T.V. increase.

Over the years I've noticed that the extremely detailed classic cars have always commanded a higher price. Even people who don't have any classic car experience can recognize and appreciate attention to detail. Currently the overall market is on the raise once again. Certain classic cars are on the rise and others are on the decline. Typically, the classic cars that are on the rise are the cars that a lot of people don't own. In other words, there are classic cars that haven't saturated the market. The cars that are at every car show and auction and page on the Internet for sale are the ones that aren't changing in value or are slowly on the decline. Of course, if the car is spectacular it will command a higher price as I mentioned. It's all about supply and demand, not a good or bad economy. Custom cars have remained strong because each car is different from the next one. They each have their own character.

“I’m putting my money where my mouth is”

I’m just a 38 year old blue collar guy who was working full time selling new and used Mercedes Benz.  I was selling my classic cars and trucks part time.  Although I had my used car dealers license I didn’t have a facility that was open to the public.  Overall things were going just fine.  However, my dream was to open my own classic car and truck dealership.  I decided to give up my full time job with health insurance and a 401K to open a new classic and truck dealership.  I had to invest a ton of money to make that happen and now have a lot more overhead.  Do you think I would’ve done all that if I didn’t think the classic car and truck market wasn’t going to remain strong?  I consign anywhere from three to eight cars at each Barrett Jackson auto auction at no reserve because I know there’s always going to be bidders for classic cars and trucks.

Description

1970 Pontiac GTO Coupe

“This is one of the most documented GTO’s on the market for sale*!”

*All documentation is listed below

THIS IS A VERY ORIGINAL CAR THAT RECEIVED A LIGHT RESTORATION THAT INCLUDED MOSTLY COSMETIC WORK!

Documented one owner Florida car until 2011!

Believed to be all original sheet metal!

Original color combination of Polar White with black interior!

100% factory original interior!

Matching numbers 400 V8 engine!

Factory installed air conditioning that works and blows cold!

Power steering. Power brakes. Power windows!

Light restoration finished by MS CLASSIC CARS!

This car was purchased brand new by William R. Swallen on 01-30-1970 at Jim Lynch Pontiac City, INC.  The MSRP was $4,595.31.  A list of the factory options is listed below!

The exterior body is very straight with tight body line gaps.  The hood, doors and trunk open and close very tightly. Most 68-72 GTO front noses aren’t lined up properly mostly because of the material and time involved.

Many hours were invested on this front nose lining it up properly and it’s one of the best I’ve seen.  The rear spoiler was also added for appearance!

A lot of time and money was invested in a brand new professional paint job that was just completed by well-known Richards Auto Body in Fall River, MA.  The paint on this car is beautiful and is definitely show quality!

Everything on the exterior has been restored or replaced including the window trim, door handles, bumpers and lights.  The glass is in beautiful condition and appears to be all original!

The car sits on new Pontiac 14” mag five spoke wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s.  The front and rear tires are 215/70/14!

The exterior is complimented by a beautiful factory correct black interior which is code #258.  This interior is 100% original.  Yes, it’s all original from the headliner to the carpeting.  Although this interior is original it’s in beautiful condition and still show quality. It is equipped with a factory electric clock but it isn’t working!

A stated above the air conditioning works and blows cold.  The power windows also all work!

The trunk compartment is nicely detailed and home to the spare tire and jack assembly.  It was lightly restored by the MS CLASSIC CARS team!

The engine compartment is highly detailed and home to the original matching numbers 400 V8 engine.  Everything in the engine compartment was cosmetically restored or replaced by the MS CLASSIC CARS team. From everything I’ve gathered the engine is all original and has never been rebuilt. There only original once and were built to last especially when serviced properly.  The original owner was extremely fussy with servicing this car and treating it like a baby.  He kept very detailed notes of all the service work.  This car starts, runs and drives beautifully!

The engine is coupled to a turbo 400 automatic transmission and 12 bolt rear end.  The transmission was replaced years ago with a 1972 GTO turbo 400 transmission since the original one was problematic.  The rear end appears to be the original.  The transmission and rear end have both been lightly restored!

The undercarriage was undercoated at the dealership when the purchased for $29.95 as the original Bill of Sale indicates.  The body was pulled off the chassis by the MS CLASSIC CARS team.  Everything was restored or replaced.  The underside of this car is absolutely show quality!

Here’s a list of all of the factory installed options:

1. 1970 GTO hardtop coupe : $3267.00.  The following items are standard with this model, 4BBL 400 enigne, 3 speed HD manual floor shift, deluxe steering wheel, custom carpets, wipers, glove box lamp, ash tray light, trim package- brake pedal, dual horns, mouldings-decor, front cushion foam and dual exhaust.

"As my website indicates I’ve collected and sold some very beautiful Pontiac GTO’s.  This 1970 Pontiac GTO is a very special classic car for multiple reasons.  When you're purchasing a house it’s always location, location, location.  When you're purchasing a classic car it’s always documentation, documentation, documentation.  This car has tons of documentation and was owned by the original owner until 2011.  He purchased the car when he was 37 years old and now is 81 years old!  He lived in Florida so the car was never exposed to bad weather.  He was a very fussy owner as all the records indicate.  This was in deed his baby.  This car appears to have all the original sheet metal and it was just recently painted in its original born with Polar white color.  The interior is 100% original which is truly amazing.  The engine compartment, trunk compartment and undercarriage is highly detailed as it was recently cosmetically restored by the MS CLASSIC CARS team.  I would challenge anyone to find a comparable car for less.  Get it before someone else does!"

Marc Schiliro - The Owner

Inspection Report
"Unfortunately most classic vehicles that are being advertised for sale by dealers and private parties aren't exactly what's being advertised for sale.  This is an industry with no real guidelines and everyone's opinion is completely different.  The average consumer doesn’t realize classic vehicles weren’t restored at the factory and are being restored by people in their garages.  Everyone’s level of restoration experience is different and it shows in the restoration.  An example would be a classic vehicle that's  being advertised as an original model with matching numbers could be a phony with a reproduction trim tag and re stamped numbers on the engine block, etc.  Another example would be a classic vehicle is being advertised as a full restoration when indeed only a few things have been restored.  There are many classic vehicles listed for sale that have cosmetic and mechanical issues with such items as the lights, body hinges, gauges, window components, steering components, upholstery, engine leaks and tuning, radiators, transmission, rear end, brake components and suspension components.  The consumers are spending thousands of dollars repairing the classic vehicles they've purchased after the sale.  At MS CLASSIC CARS I own the entire inventory and take pride in what I sell.  I'm not a consignment dealer who is only looking to make a quick buck on a vehicle that they don't even own.  We’ve seen dealers and private parties purchase classic vehicles at auctions and online and immediately list them for sale.  They never even touched the vehicle.  Even with 15+ years’ experience and having collected and sold over 250 classic vehicles I’ve experienced that ALL the classic vehicles need some attention. Obviously some need more than others but the bottom line is they all need something.  I do the best of our ability to purchase quality classic vehicles, prepare them and advertise them honestly.  To be clear were not in the restoration business.  I collect and sell classic vehicles that have already been restored and do our best to bring them to another level with service and detail work.  Unlike many dealers when you call or email to inquire about a classic vehicle you speak directly to me.  I purchases all the classic vehicles for MS CLASSIC CARS, follow the service and detail process, write the descriptions, take the photos, advertise them for sale and answers all the calls and emails.  I'll personally go over the entire vehicle and tell you everything I knows about it.  I'll also give you my personal opinion about the classic vehicle of your choice and decide if it’s truly the right fit for you.

If you've read the introduction tab or visited myr website you’ll probably agree I'm a bit of a perfectionist and represent very detailed classic vehicles. MS CLASSIC CARS has a great reputation and we continue to raise the bar in the classic car and truck world.  These are older vehicles and aren’t new but were doing our best to make them function, look great and honestly describe them.  I sell our classic cars and trucks very quickly because consumers see the value.

Once you've committed to purchase a classic vehicle from MS CLASSIC CARS, I'lll make it a very easy process from start to finish.  Once the funds have cleared I'll immediately mail the paperwork USPS 2-day air.  A CD with the description and photos of the vehicle you purchased will be included in the package.  I'll also assist in enclosed door to door transportation.  I look forward to working with you.  Thank you for the opportunity! "

Classic cars and trucks make great investments and are extremely fun to own.  It’s so exciting to search for a classic, purchase one and watch it come off the trailer, add your own touches, take it for a ride or just look at it sitting in the garage after a hard day at work.  Classic car and truck collectors aren’t just in the United States but worldwide.  The classic car and truck market is growing every day.  It’s seen at car shows and auctions, in magazines and on TV shows.  Get your new classic car or truck today.  You only live once, if you can afford it, do it!

I do the best I can to represent my classic cars and trucks.  My results, feedback and reputation speak for themselves. Everyone’s opinion of a classic car and truck is different and I encourage questions prior to a purchase. I have a beautiful showroom with excellent lighting and a lift for a complete inspection if requested. Inspections will be scheduled by appointment only.  The closest airport is Providence, RI.  It’s only a 25 minute ride from the dealership.  I can arrange to pick up at the airport.  I also have a dealer plate that would allow for a test drive with a valid driver’s license for a serious buyer.  Please call 508-557-0152 or email for any questions.  Thank you.

                                                                                                                              Sincerely,

What car brand should come back?

Fri, Apr 7 2017

Congratulations, wishful thinker! You've been granted one wish by the automotive genie or wizard or leprechaun or whoever has been gifted with that magical ability. You get to pick one expired, retired or fired automotive brand and resurrect it from its heavenly peace! But which one? That's a tough decision and not one to be made lightly. As we know from car history, the landscape is littered with failed brands that just didn't have what it took to cut it in the dog-eat-dog world of vehicle design, engineering and marketing. So many to choose from! Because I am not a car historian, I'll leave it to a real expert to present a complete list of history's automotive misses from which you can choose, if you're a stickler about that sort of thing. And since I'm most familiar with post-World War II cars and brands, that's what I'm going to stick to (although Maxwell, Cord and some others could make strong arguments). So, with the parameters established, let's get started, shall we? Hudson: I admit, I really don't know a lot about Hudson, except that stock car drivers apparently did pretty well with them back in the day, and Paul Newman played one in the first Cars movie. But really, isn't that enough to warrant consideration? Frankly, I think the Paul Newman connection is reason enough. What other actor who drove race cars was cooler? James Dean? Steve McQueen? James Garner? Paul Walker? But, I digress. That's a story for another day. Plymouth: As the scion of a Dodge family (my grandfather had a Dodge truck, and my mom had not one, but two Dodge Darts – the rear-wheel-drive ones with slant sixes in them, not the other one they don't make any more), I tend to think of Plymouth as the "poor man's Dodge." But then you have to consider the many Hemi-powered muscle cars sold under the Plymouth brand, such as the Road Runner, the GTX, the Barracuda, and so on. Was there a more affordable muscle car than Plymouth? When you place it in the context of "affordable muscle," Plymouth makes a pretty strong argument for reanimation. Oldsmobile: When I was a teenager, all the cool kids had Oldsmobile Cutlasses, the downsized ones that came out in 1978. At one point, the Olds Cutlass was the hottest selling car in the land, if you can believe that. Then everybody started buying Honda Civics and Accords and Toyota Corollas and Camrys, and you know the rest. But going back farther, there's the 442 – perhaps Olds' finest hour when it came to muscle cars.

GM knew about fatal Chevy ignition problem decade before recall

Fri, 21 Feb 2014

Well, this is not good for General Motors. Following a report last week that GM was recalling 778,000 Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5 compacts over concerns that the ignition could switch out of the "run" position without warning, USA Today reports that the Detroit-based behemoth knew about the issue, which affected 2005 to 2007 Cobalts (the Cobalt shown above and in the gallery is from 2010) and 2007 Pontiac G5s, all the way back in 2004.
The information comes from a deposition in a civil lawsuit against GM, obtained by USA Today, which claims that a GM engineer experienced the issue while the then-new model was undergoing testing. The issue was "solved" when a technical service bulletin was issued in 2005, informing dealers to install a snap-on key cover on the cars of customers who complained about the issue. According to the Cobalt's program engineering manager, Gary Altman, the cover was an "improvement, it was not a fix to the issue."
The case where the depositions were made was from 2010, and involved Brooke Melton, a 29-year-old pediatric nurse in Georgia who was killed on her birthday. At the time, police claimed she was going too fast on a wet, rural road, although it later came out through the black box that her car's ignition had come out of the "run" position at least three seconds before the accident (the max amount of time a black box records before a wreck), disabling her airbags, power steering and anti-lock brakes. According to USA Today, police said Melton was "traveling too fast for the roadway conditions," although it's impossible to know if she'd have been in the wreck, which injured the occupants of another vehicle, had her 2005 Chevy not shut off. GM settled the Melton family's case, although the details remain confidential.

Even Ferrari swept up in latest Takata recall expansion

Fri, May 27 2016

The scope of Takata's deadly airbag problems continues to widen. Eight manufacturers announced recalls Friday that affect more than 12 million vehicles, according to documents filed with federal regulators. The automakers include Honda, which is recalling 4.5 million units, Fiat Chrysler with 4.3 million, Toyota with 1.65 million, and Subaru, which is recalling almost 400,000. Some of these cars include the Saab 9-2x and Pontiac Vibe that Toyota and Subaru made for General Motors. Mazda will recall 730,000 vehicles and Nissan has 400,000 affected units. The smallest numbers were posted by Mitsubishi, with 38,000 Lancers manufactured from 2006 to 2007, and as a noteworthy high-end manufacturer, Ferrari is calling back 2,800 vehicles. These are all US-market cars. Beyond America, the Japanese Transport Ministry has announced seven million additional vehicles will be recalled, which means 19.6 million vehicles across the globe are affected by recalls announced. The defects have been traced to an insufficiently manufactured airbag inflator, which lacks a drying agent that would prevent the inflators from deteriorating over time. Thirteen deaths have been linked to the faulty airbags, which have become unstable and are prone to exploding and showering vehicle occupants with lethal amounts of metal shrapnel. A private equity firm, KKR & Co., has been named in a possible buyout of the struggling Takata.
