I would like to consider this car a survivor but unfortunately it needs a little more work than what i consider a survivor, but it is an unmolested 2 owner lady owned, number matching ram air 3 4 speed car with 63k original miles

i first saw this car 22 years ago as a teenager in high school, but of course it was never for sale and the lady would not sell no matter what, long story short 22 years later they finally decided to let the car go, unfortunately the time on the road has taken its toll over the years, it still runs and drives great but is not much to look at, and it needs new exhaust

the best part is the car is mostly original and complete, about the only things missing is the original air cleaner lid, center caps, original distributor,am radio, spare tire, jack and the sunvisors

it retains its original WS block that is vin# matching,12 casting heads, its original 7040273 carb, orginal exhaust manifolds
3925660 transmission,3:55 safe t track rear end

original color of granada gold with saddle interior and black vinyl top

power disc brakes up front, power steering

interior is in fair shape, the seats and door panels could be used with just a cleaning and detail, but it needs new carpet, dash pad is cracked, headliner needs replaced, rear package tray, all gauges seem to work except the gas gauge but i will put more gas in and see if it moves, factory in dash tach works great, heater works but makes noise

windshield has a crack, rest of glass is good, console has some holes from something at one time like where an 8 track player would have been, i will search for the build sheet tomorrow

the ram air hood is complete and in great shape, never kinked or rusted, has original hood scoops and flappers, both upper and lower pans are original, pull cable under the dash is there but cable itself is broken

the car will need quarter panels and lower front fender patches, the trunk floor is in great shape not even pinhole rust, floor pans are the same, in great shape no rust at all that i can see, rockers are good and solid, doors have surface rust on the ouside but easily fixed with just stripping the old paint, frame is good and solid, nose has normal paint crack but no damage, grilles are nice, lower front valance has some dings but no major damage, rear bumper needs rechromed, lower rear valance the same a few dings but no major damage

lights do work but a couple tail light bulbs are burned out, was vinyl top car but i removed it to prevent further rust, had surface rust in area's and a couple small holes roof will need a little work

has 4 of the JT codes rims, but do not have the spare or the jack

tried to cover anything but i am sure there will be more questions

forgot to mention, radio hole was cut out, and speaker holes were put in the rear armrests and front kick panels can be seen in the pictures

David Hasselhoff's own KITT replica up for auction

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

Depending on when and where you grew up, the name David Hasselhoff likely conjures up images of Knight Rider, Baywatch, pop singer, or possibly a washed-up TV actor, but one thing that can never be taken away from The Hoff is his connection to one of the greatest automotive icons in pop culture. The Knight Industries Two Thousand, usually shortened to simply KITT, was the real star of Knight Rider for many fans. Based on a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, the car combined snarky quips for comedy relief and stunts to provide much of the show's actions. Now, Julien's Auctions is selling Hasselhoff's own replica as part of a larger sale of the actor's personal memorabilia collection.
This recreation is based on a 1986 Firebird and comes with all of the tech on the inside that now seems hilariously outdated, like the yoke steering wheel and plethora of buttons. The interior also thoughtfully includes a voice box with over 4,000 sound clips from the show. With a 5.0-liter V8 and an automatic transmission, performance is likely adequate and period correct. According to the listing, this car was created by fans and given to the Hoff. Sadly, the replica doesn't convert to Super Pursuit Mode like KITT could in later seasons, and we most associate KITT with conventional front-hinged doors to go with the power t-tops and ejector seats.
Bidding currently sits $27,500 with eight bids, since starting at $15,000. Julien's predicts it will sell for between $30,000 and $50,000. If there is some nostalgia for KITT in your heart, there is still plenty of time to bid.

GM's got 107 problems and NHTSA's No. 1

Thu, Mar 6 2014

General Motors' problems with its recall of roughly 1.6-million vehicles continue to mount. Now that it has emerged that GM knew about the problem since at least 2004 but waited to recall vehicles until February 2014, regulators at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have begun a much deeper investigation. NHTSA has sent a 27-page survey to GM that includes 107 questions about the timeline of what led up to the recall, and it has until April 3 to reply. This isn't a simple, multiple-choice test. Automotive News believes that hundreds of pages could be required to answer some of the queries. NHTSA says that it is still investigating GM's response to the recall. "We are a data-driven organization, and we will take whatever action is appropriate based on where our findings lead us," said NHTSA in a statement on its website. If found liable, the automaker could face a fine as high as $35 million and even possible criminal charges, according to Bloomberg. NHTSA's questions include a detailed explanation of GM's examination process; how it will improve the process; why a planned redesign of the cars' key in 2005 wasn't implemented; and specific data on each complaint it received. According to Bloomberg, NHTSA also has records that show the company had a meeting with regulators to discuss the airbag failure in a Chevrolet Cobalt in 2007. New GM CEO Mary Barra has also hired an outside law firm to conduct an independent investigation about what happened. It will include questioning company employees who were involved with the process from the start. The recall stems from faulty ignition switches that shut off the car while driving, and if it occurs the airbags deactivate. Thirteen deaths and 23 crashes have been caused by the problem, according to Bloomberg. If you would like to peruse NHTSA's entire questionnaire for GM, it can be viewed here. 24 Hours of Le Mans live update part two

Sun, Jun 19 2016

We tasked surfing journalist Rory Parker to watch this year's live stream of the 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans. What follows is an experiment to experience the world's greatest endurance race from the perspective of a motorsports novice. Parker lives in Hawaii and can hold his breath longer than he can go without swearing. For Part One, click here. Or you can skip ahead to Part Three here. I write about surfing for a living. If you can call it a living. Basically means I spend my days fucking around and my wife pays for everything. Because she's got a real job that pays well. Brings home the bacon. Very progressive arrangement. Super twenty first century. I run a surf website, beachgrit.com, with two other guys. It's a strange gig. More or less uncensored. Kind of popular. Very good at alienating advertisers. My behavior has cost us a few bucks. I'm terrible at self-censorship. Know there's a line out there, no idea where it lies. I still don't understand any of the technical side. Might as well be astrophysics or something. For contests I do long rambling write ups. They rarely make much sense. Mainly just talk about my life, whatever random thoughts pop into my head. "Can you do something similar for Le Mans?" "Sure, but I know absolutely fuck-all about racing." "That's okay. Just write what you want." "Will do. But you're gonna need to edit my stuff. Probably censor it heavily." So here I am. I spent the last week trying to learn all I can about the sport of endurance racing. But there's only so much you can jam in your head. And I still don't understand any of the technical side. Might as well be astrophysics or something. While I rambled things were happening. Tracy Krohn spun into the gravel on the Forza chicane. #89 is out of the race after an accident I missed. Pegasus racing hit the wall on the Porsche curves. Bashed up front end, in the garage getting fixed. Toyota and Porsche are swapping back and forth in the front three. Ford back in the lead in GTE Pro. #91 Porsche took a stone through the radiator, down two laps. Not good. The wife and I are one of those weird childless couples that spend way too much time caring for the needs of their pet. French bulldog, Mr Eugene Victor Debs. Great little guy. Spent the last four years training him to be obedient and friendly. Nice thing about dogs, when you're sick of dealing with them you can just lock 'em in another room for a few hours. You don't need to worry about paying for college.
