Selling my 1968 GTO Convertible. It's a real GTO, not a clone and has the PHS documentation to prove it. This car is not a show car, but a great driver.
The good: Originally a 400 H.O., 4 speed car. The heads on it now are 455 heads, but I haven't checked the numbers on the block to see if it is truly is a 455, or just the heads bolted to a 400. It runs and drives great. In the last year the Muncy M21 was rebuilt and new centerforce clutch installed, a 4 wheel power disc brake kit with drilled and slotted rotors was installed with front to rear stainless brake lines, new front wiring harness, rebuilt dash cluster ( rally gauges) and clock, new dash knobs and bezels, front suspension rebuilt, new power steering pump, all belts and hoses new, new plugs and wires, rear axle was rebuilt and is from a '67 chevelle that's a 12 bolt posi, tires and shocks are new (rear shocks are air). The top was replaced at some point and is in nice shape but could have been installed better as it has some wrinkles here and there. I have a new cylinder for the top in the box (one leaks some) and also a weather stripping kit for the top in the box. The hood tach works good.
The bad: It has some bubbles in the trunk lid, a few on the hood, some rust on the dash, some scale on top of the windshield frame under the vinyl trim, and couple holes in the floor. The trunk is in excellent shape and the rear quarters have had half skins installed at some point (no bondo). The paint shines up nice but not perfect by any means. The interior is in decent shape for a driver. Seats are the original white and not torn. The door panels have been replaced and are like new but are the "parchment" color so not the correct white. The vinyl wood grain overlay has fallen off the glove box door. It is supposed to have a console but it is missing, as is the door armrests. It could use the rear suspension bushings replaced. The windshield has a couple chips in it. No radio installed.
So in short your bidding on a mechanically great shape car that you can drive wherever (I drove it 200mi round trip last weekend, 70 mph on I95 without a hiccup), leave the body as is so you can drive it without worry that some shmuck is going to open their door into yours and chip your $10k paint job but still look good enough that it gets compliments everywhere. OR you are buying a great start to a full restoration. I'm sure I've missed something so any questions just ask. Thanks and good luck bidding.

This KITT replica sold at auction for $32,500
Thu, Apr 23 2020UPDATE: This 1987 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am KITT replica officially sold for $32,500. Here's hoping the new owner has a blast throwin' it into Pursuit Mode. Let's get one thing straight right off the bat: This isn't a perfect KITT replica. The original KITT used in the Knight Rider TV series was based on a 1982 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. The one you see above, which is currently for sale at auction site Bring A Trailer, is a 1987 model, and since it's a GTA edition, it has some extra body cladding that the smooth-sided television car lacked. That aside, most casual observers would probably never notice the difference, and even those who did (like us) are still likely to be impressed by the car's transformation. This KITT replica is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. It ought to be fairly quick, though quite a bit shy of the fictional car's very fictional 300-mph top speed. We're not exactly Knight Rider experts, but some quick Google sleuthing suggests that the Knight Industries Two Thousand supposedly cost more than $11,000,000 to build in Hollywoodland. This one will surely command a significantly lower sum — as of this writing, it's been bid up to $18,000 with four days remaining on the auction. This content is hosted by a third party. There are several videos of the car that detail its modifications inside and out, but suffice it to say it seems to be a well-sorted replica. Here's hoping its new owner keeps it well clear of other KARRs. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings.
NHTSA investigating 550k Pontiac G6 models, 320k Honda Odysseys
Mon, 10 Jun 2013According to two separate reports in The Detroit News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is launching investigations into 550,000 Pontiac G6 (pictured above) and 320,000 Honda Odyssey (pictured right) models. The G6 models are all from the 2005 to 2007 model years, while the Odyssey minivans are from the 2003 and 2004 model years. The two NHTSA probes are not related.
In the case of the G6, this is an upgrade to an original investigation that started in February after NHTSA received "hundreds of reports" that the brake lights on these cars may malfunction. According to The Detroit News, the lights may come on when the brake pedal is not depressed, and likewise, the brake lights may not illuminate when the pedal has been pushed. General Motors was able to provide NHTSA with a significant number of warranty claims, including 1,100 reports that could potentially relate to this problem, one of which indicates a vehicle crash.
For Honda, the NHTSA probe concerns airbags that may deploy unexpectedly. The government agency received six complaints from 2003-04 Odyssey owners saying that the front airbags suddenly went off without a crash. The Detroit News reports that three of the six owners sustained injuries from these incidents. Additionally, NHTSA has received 41 complaints from owners saying the vehicle's airbag warning light had illuminated.
GM Recalling Another 2.7 Million Vehicles In Five Separate Campaigns
Thu, May 15 2014The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles. The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles – some of them the same models – but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago. The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents. A further 112k Corvette models from the 2005-2007 model years are being called in for problems with their low-beam headlamps resulting from a flexing relay control circuit wire that's not meant to bend. GM says it is "aware of several hundred complaints" about this issue, but notes that there have been no reports of related accidents. In addition, over 19k examples of Cadillac CTS from the 2013 and 2014 model years are being recalled over windshield wipers that might not work after a jump start. Finally, GM is also bringing in 477 examples of its 2014 Chevy Silverado, Tahoe and GMC Sierra (though not the Yukon) to fix a problem with a tie rod in its steering rack. As ever, all recall repairs will be performed free of charge, and GM is now estimating that recall-related actions this quarter will result in an estimated $200-million charge against its second-quarter earnings. Read the full announcement from GM below for further details.
