HERE IS A REAL CLEAN 1968 PONTIAC GTO CONVERTIBLE. THE EXTERIOR IS SOLAR RED WITH A BLACK CONVERTIBLE TOP. THE
PAINT IS IN GREAT SHAPE AND WAS DONE IN THE ORIGINAL SOLAR RED. THERE IS NO FADING ON THE CAR AND THE PAINT SHINES
BRIGHT. THE GLASS IS ALL CLEAR AND THE CHROME IS IN GREAT SHAPE. THE WHEELS AND TIRES ARE ALSO IN VERY NICE SHAPE.
THE INTERIOR IS CLEAN AND THERE ARE NO RIPS OR TEARS IN THE SEATS. THE DASH LOOKS GREAT ALONG WITH ALL THE OTHER
INTERIOR PIECES. THE 6.5 400 MOTOR STARTS RIGHT UP AND RUNS THE WAY ITS SUPPOSE TO. I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE
ORIGINAL MOTOR THAT THE CAR WAS BORN WITH BUT IT VERY WELL COULD BE. THE 400 TURBO AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTS
RIGHT ON TIME AND HAS NO ISSUES. AGAIN IT COULD BE ORIGINAL TO THE CAR BUT I'M NOT 100% SURE. THE CAR HAS A 10 BOLT
REAR THAT I BELIEVE IS A 373 GEAR. THIS IS A WONDERFUL CAR TO DRIVE AND TAKE TO SHOWS. IT HAS A NICE EXHAUST SYSTEM
THAT HAS A TERRIFIC SOUND. NOT TO LOUD BUT VERY HEALTHY. IF YOU LIVE NEAR BY AND WANT TO CHECK CERTAIN NUMBERS ON
THE CAR BY ALL MEANS COME ON OVER AND WE CAN PUT IT UP ON A LIFT FOR YOU. THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR IS IN GREAT
SHAPE. WE HAD THE CAR GONE OVER BY A MECHANIC AND THE CAR HAS A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH. HERE IS THE TRIM TAG INFO.

In the early '60s, Baby Boomers born immediately after World War II were beginning to buy cars and enjoy their own distinctive music. This wasn't yet the drug culture; rather, it was the drag culture, more Jan and Dean "Dead Man's Curve" than Beatles "Lucy In The Sky." And a Baby Boomer's desired ride, more often than not, was Pontiac's GTO. Introduced as a manned-up option for Pontiac's compact Tempest, the early GTO was 389 cubic inches of romp and stomp. And with a marketing campaign that hit Middle America via what it watched and ate (TV ads and cereal-box promos were a big part of the GTO launch), there was no escaping it. Like most performance coupes and convertibles, 10 years later it was became an emasculated version of its once lusty self. And then it was gone. Its revival, championed by General Motors executive Bob Lutz, was not by any stretch the Second Coming. Starting in 2004, GM modified its Australian-built Holden Monaro to approximate the excitement of the original formula: a coupe body propelled by a big V8. But the Holden's sheetmetal was quietly styled, and even the 400 horsepower available by 2006 didn't electrify buyers. With hindsight, the resurrected GTO is enjoying more attention and, slowly but surely, increasing in value. This for-sale example shows well, enjoys low mileage, and is – naturally – priced well above what is perceived to be its market value. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. GM recalling over 40,000 Chevy, Pontiac and Saturn models over fuel pump woes
Mon, 01 Oct 2012The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall for a number of General Motors cars and crossovers bought or currently registered in the hot-climate states of Arkansas, Arizona, California, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas. As many as 40,859 units consisting of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, Pontiac Torrent and Saturn Ion and the 2007-2009 Chevrolet Cobalt (shown) and its Pontiac G5 twin are being recalled for potential fuel leaks.
This recall is being issued due to potentially faulty fuel pump components that can crack and cause gasoline to leak from the return or supply ports and possibly cause a fire. NHTSA has not indicated how many fuel leaks or vehicle fires have been reported. As a fix, GM will replace the fuel pump modules on all affected vehicles free of charge. Since Pontiac and Saturn have been shuttered, owners will be able to go to another GM-brand dealership to have their vehicles repaired.
While the list of affected cars and crossovers varies by state and model year, if you own any of these models and live in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada, Oklahoma or Texas, be sure to check the official notice below for more details.
GM doing fine at retaining Pontiac owners
Fri, 28 Oct 2011This isn't the first time we've reported positive news about General Motors retaining former Pontiac owners. Get a few more stories like this latest report from Edmund's Auto Observer, and it will mark an ongoing positive trend for GM. Edmunds.com crunched the numbers to see how well the General is hanging on to customers after shutting out the lights at Pontiac, and it found that nearly 40 percent of Pontiac owners stayed with a vehicle from a General Motors brand.
The numbers are a little lower than an earlier R.L. Polk & Company study, but Edmunds says General Motors is keeping more former Pontiac buyers than it has since 2007. Most are turning to vehicles from Chevrolet, especially during January and February of 2011, when GM incentivized Pontiac owners to stay under the umbrella. Those moves seem to have worked, and 28.1 percent of Pontiac owners trading up made the jump into a Bowtie.
Buyers that have gone elsewhere have largely stayed loyal to Domestic automakers, with Ford picking up the most conquests from Pontiac, with 9.4 percent switching. Toyota and Honda picked up 7.4 percent of the pool of former Pontiac drivers. The numbers are defying any predictions that Pontiac buyers would completely exit the General Motors fold, and have climbed up closer to parity with the retention figures of other GM brands from a 2009 low of only 16 percent retention.
