You are bidding on a 1967 Pontiac GTO Restoration Project.  This is the same year and model as the one shown in the season premiere commercials for Discovery’s Fast & Loud – They built theirs, now here’s your chance to build one that’s bigger, badder, and all your own!!  Freshly rolled out of the garage that’s been its home for well over 23 years, this GTO is a real gem!  This was originally a 400/4 barell/TH400 car, but it currently has a Pontiac 350 CID V8 engine with 2-barrell carburetor and Turbo-Hydramatic (Turbo 400) Automatic Transmission that are not matching numbered to the car. I’m not sure if they are “period correct” or not, however the transmission seems to be. The GTO is currently running and driving, and can be classified as a “yard driver”. Over all, the body on the car is very solid and very straight; definitely a great candidate for a restoration. It is currently in primer. There are, however, some spots of rust and rot in the floor at the very edge of where the trunk pan meets the rear wheel wells (body mounts), and the driver’s side front floor; all of these problem areas havebeen shown in pictures in the listing. Also, please note that the back window and vent windows have been etched with “GTO” and the previous owner’s name. Front and rear bumpers as well as all of the trim pieces are original and in decent to nice shape. This GTO comes with: power trunk lock, trunk light, original air cleaner, dual exhaust, and chrome glove box (not sure if this is correct or rare, if someone out there knows please send me a message!).  This car sits on a set of what I believe to be 4 Rally II Wheels with good BF Goodrich Radial T/A’s all the way around; the trim rings are there as well but look fairly beat-up.  The GTO is also equipped with Power Steering and Power Drum Brakes.  There are more trim and trinket pieces that are not on the car, but will go along with sale.

This GTO comes with a copy of a breakdown of the VIN number directly from PHS Historic Automotive Services and tells what the car originally came with.  I have applied for a Massachusetts Title and am waiting for it to arrive.  I have the receipt from the RMV assuring that a clear MA Title will be on the way.

This car originally came from the factory with:

-       400 CID V8 motor with 4 barrel carburetor

-       Turbo-Hydramatic Transmission

-       3:36 “H” code rear end

-       Power Steering

-       Power Drum Brakes

-       Pushbutton Radio and Stereo Tape Player

-       Rally I Wheels

-       Bucket Seats w/ Console

-       Remote Controlled Mirror

-       Remote Controlled Deck Lid Release

-       Custom Seat Belts

-       Electric Clock

-       Soft Ray Windshield

-       Door Edge Guards

-       The original paint color of this GTO was Montego Cream, with Black color interior (seats and trim).

Buyer is responsible for pick-up or shipping after the close of auction.  Seller reserves the right to cancel auction at any time.

If there are any additional questions, please do not hesitate to send a message or call 508-six seven three-9402. Once again, do not miss your chance to own, restore, or customize this awesome classic GTO! Good luck and happy bidding!!

GM expands headlight recall to 180k Buicks and Pontiacs

Thu, Aug 20 2015

General Motors is issuing an expanded headlight module recall to include 180,504 examples in North America of the 2005 Buick LaCrosse (2008 model year pictured above) and 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. Specifically, the campaign affects 159,584 of them in the US and 20,920 in Canada. When the part fails, the vehicles' low beams can stop working either intermittently or permanently. "GM is unable to confirm any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this condition," the company said in a statement, and there's currently no permanent repair for the problem. For now, dealers will replace the headlamp module with a new example of the same part. The automaker first announced this campaign in November 2014 when it affected 316,357 examples globally of the 2006-09 Buick LaCrosse; 2006-2007 Chevy TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT; 2006-2007 GMC Envoy and 2006 GMC Envoy XL; 2006-2007 Buick Rainier; 2006-2008 Saab 9-7X; and 2006-08 Isuzu Ascender. GM recalling 778,000 Cobalts and G5s, six deaths reported

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

General Motors has announced that it will be recalling 778,562 compact cars after six people were killed in accidents, partially due to the airbags' failure to deploy. An issue with the ignition switch is causing the airbag issues, as well as causing the engine and other components to shut off without warning. The recall covers the 2005 to 2007 model year Chevrolet Cobalt and 2007 Pontiac G5. (Note that the Cobalt pictured above is a 2009 model.)
According to a report from Automotive News, a number of factors can cause the ignition to switch out of the run position, including weights on the key ring, rough or bumpy roads or other "jarring" events. Any of these situations could lead to some vehicle components not functioning properly.
There have been five fatal front-impact crashes that took the lives of six people, although as a GM spokesman noted, all five of the crashes happened off road and at high speed. In each of these cases, though, the lack of airbags wasn't the only lethal factor - alcohol and failure to wear a seat belt also played a role. Outside of the fatal accidents, there have been 17 other crashes where airbags didn't deploy. It's unclear if any of these crashes were caused by the engine shutting off.

Junkyard Gem: 1980 Pontiac Phoenix LJ Hatchback

Sun, Jan 22 2023

The car-building world was rushing headlong into front-wheel-drive by the late 1970s, eager to reap the weight-saving and space-enhancing benefits of front-drive designs. General Motors designed an innovative FWD platform to replace the embarrassingly outdated Chevrolet Nova and its siblings, and that ended up being the Chevrolet Citation. The other US-market GM car divisions (except Cadillac) got a piece of the X-Body action, and the Pontiac version was called the Phoenix. Here's one of those first-year Phoenixes, not doing a very good job of rising from its snow-covered ashes in a Colorado self-service yard. Pontiac had used the Phoenix name on a luxed-up iteration of Pontiac's version of the Chevy Nova during the 1977-1979 model years, and so it made sense to apply that name to the Pontiac-ized Citation. Phoenix production continued through the 1984 model year (the Citation managed to hang on through 1985). Just to confuse everyone, the Nova name was revived in 1985, on a NUMMI-built Toyota Corolla. The LJ trim level was the nicest one for the 1980 Phoenix, and it included lots of trim upgrades and convenience features. However, even Phoenix LJ buyers had to pay extra for a three-speed automatic transmission instead of the base four-on-the-floor manual ($337, or about $1,291 in 2022 dollars). If you wanted air conditioning, that was another $564 and you had to get the $164 power steering and the $76 power brakes with it (total cost in 2022 dollars: $3,080). Affordable cars weren't so affordable back then, not once you started adding basic options. Both generations of the Phoenix had grilles influenced by those of the Pontiacs of earlier years. The base engine was the chugging 2.5-liter Iron Duke four-cylinder, but a 2.8-liter V6 was optional. This car has the V6, rated at 115 horsepower rather than the Duke's miserable 90 horses. The price tag: 225 bucks, or 862 inflation-adjusted 2022 bucks. The Phoenix was available just as a two-door coupe and five-door hatchback. The MSRP on this car would have started at $6,127, or around $23,469 now. That would have been a pretty good deal even after paying for the options, with the Phoenix's excellent mix of good interior space and solid fuel economy… but the Citation and its kin (the Oldsmobile Omega and Buick Skylark as well as the Phoenix) suffered from seemingly endless, highly publicized recalls and quality problems.
