1966 Pontiac GTO

Hello,

I have up for sale a beautiful 1966 Pontiac GTO. This is a project car but would take little work to become an absolutely beautiful car. A lot of time and money has been spent on this project which I will describe below. This car started its life as a 389cui backed with a 2 speed power glide automatic transmission. The car was originally order in Fontaine Blue with a black vinyl top and Parchment interior. This color combination will be stunning when completed. I do have the PHS documents that will accompany all other documentation of the vehicle when it is sold to its new owner. Other options the car was order with are as follows:

Radio
Verba-Phonic Rear Speaker
Rear Window Defogger
Rear View Mirror
Clock
Deluxe Wheel Discs
Console with Bucket Seats
Power Steering
Hazzard Warning Lights
Soft Ray Glass (Tinted Glass)
Power Windows

Since I purchased the car I've been slowly working on the restoration and at this point due to so many other projects I do not want to take the time or money to complete it.

The current condition of the car;

Body:

All rust repair has been completed by a professional body shop and completed correctly, rust free. All paint cut in has been completed including the doors and door jams, under hood, under deck lid, and around the front and rear window before reinstalling. The inner fenders are new and the engine compartment has been painted. The car has been put in sealer but needs to be painted.

Interior:

The interior needs some restoration and needs to be completed. I have most of the interior parts and they will be included with the car.

Mechanical:

The engine is a 1966 389 with YC stamping non numbers matching but is period correct. The transmission is a TH automatic. The drivetrain has been installed but the remaining components need to be installed and hooked up in order to fire the car. I removed this motor from a running car before installing. The accessory and exhaust manifolds are removed at this time.

I have a multitude of parts that will be included with the car and can be seen in the photos.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to email you're questions. I will return all emails as soon as possible. If you send me your phone number I can call you and we can speak about the car and its condition if you prefer. Please make yourself aware of everything you need to know before you purchase the car so there are no complications after the sale.

Terms and Conditions:

This vehicle is sold as is where is with absolutely no warranty applied and the sale is final. Buyer to pay deposit within 48 hours end of sale and the remaining funds to be paid within 7 days end of sale by the following forms of payment; cash in person, bank money wire transfer or certified bank cashiers check. If buyer fails to make this payment within this time, the deposit will be forfeited and the car will be re-listed, unless other arrangements have been made between you and I. Buyer assumes all responsibility of shipping, I will make myself available for pickup of the vehicle. I have to the best of my knowledge represented the car as honest as possible.

Woodward Dream Cruise Photo Gallery | Classics and American muscle

Sun, Aug 21 2022

The 2022 running of the Woodward Dream Cruise just went down, and we were there from morning to evening drinking in the sweet sights and pre-emissions exhaust fumes. Yes, it’s a little smelly on Woodward Ave. this time of year. Just like always, the Dream Cruise invites all comers to cruise their machines on Woodward from Ferndale, MI to Pontiac, MI. Everybody is invited, but the original intent of the Dream Cruise was to highlight classic American muscle cars. YouÂ’ll see plenty of those in our mega gallery above, but weÂ’ve sprinkled it with a bunch of other vehicle types, such as modern muscle and other intriguing American vehicles. Similar to years past, though, sometimes the classics arenÂ’t the most entertaining thing to look at on Woodward. ThatÂ’s why weÂ’ll have other mega galleries coming soon, highlighting the weird cars and (great) dogs of the Cruise, all the imports and exotics you can imagine and a special one for all the trucks of Woodward — perhaps even more so than in years past, the truck population on Dream Cruise day was quite high. Click through above to see all the classics you wouldÂ’ve seen had you been roadside on the day of the cruise. And if you missed this yearÂ’s event, make sure you check out what happens next year. You wonÂ’t be alone, as itÂ’s estimated that over 1 million people attend the Dream Cruise to either watch from the side of the road or to sit in the most glorious traffic jam in the world. The prized golden 1965 Pontiac Hurst GeeTO Tiger is headed to auction

Sat, Apr 4 2020

Once upon a time, a Pontiac advertising executive named Jim Wangers created a countrywide contest with this gorgeous 1965 Pontiac Hurst GTO serving as the grand prize. The contest was centered around "GeeTO Tiger," a song by musical artists The Tigers. A 19-year-old took home the golden muscle car at the time, but now anybody can buy the rare car through an upcoming Mecum auction.  As a way to boost sales and awareness of the Pontiac GTO and its performance parts, Wangers partnered up with Royal Pontiac, George Hurst, and Petersen Publishing in 1965 to create a contest. Royal provided the car, Hurst dressed it up, and Petersen distributed the contest in publications across the country.  In order to participate, people were asked to provide a reason why they wanted the car and identify how many times the word "tiger" was used in the promotional song "GeeTO Tiger" (pronounced G-Tee-Oh) by The Tigers. A 19 year-old kid named Alex Lampone from West Allis, Wisconsin, won the contest and took delivery of this jazzed-up GTO at the 1965 NHRA Indy Nationals.  This content is hosted by a third party. The Tigers - GeeTO Tiger The prize car was completely kitted out and described by Wangers as "the nicest GTO you could put your hands on." It had more than 28 factory options, including a black cordova top, power windows, power steering, power brakes, a tilt steering wheel, a power driver's seat, dual-speed windshield wipers, a custom sport steering wheel, a rally gauge cluster, a push-button AM/FM radio with power antenna, and a Verba phonic rear speaker. What makes it stand out is the Hurst-inspired gold theme, which includes gold paint, gold mag wheels, and a gold-plated Hurst Shifter. Under the hood, this GTO has a Tri-Power 389 V8 engine that pairs with a four-speed manual transmisison. It also has a 3.55 Safe-T-Track rear axle and dual exhaust. Throughout the years, this car has exchanged hands many times and has undergone a few changes. It's been repainted, and the engine has also been rebuilt, but Mecum says it's otherwise highly original. Ony 59,000 miles have turned over on the odometer.  The GeeTO Tiger Pontiac is scheduled to go up for auction in Indianapolis this June. Visit Mecum for more information. Junkyard Gem: 1984 Pontiac Fiero with supercharged 3800 V6 swap

Tue, Dec 31 2019

Like the Corvair, the Vega, and the Citation, the Pontiac Fiero was a very innovative machine that ended up causing General Motors more headaches than happiness, and Fiero aficionados and naysayers continue to beat each other with tire irons (figuratively speaking, I hope) to this day. The General has often proved willing to take the occasional big gamble and huge GM successes in engineering prowess (including the first overhead-valve V8 engine for the masses and the first real-world-usable true automatic transmission) and marketing brilliance (e.g., the Pontiac GTO and related John DeLorean home runs) meant that the idea of a mid-engined sporty economy car (or economical sports car) got a shot from the suits on the 14th floor. Sadly, the Fiero ended up being the marketplace victim of too many issues to get into here, and The General pulled the plug immediately after the 1988-model-year suspension redesign that made the Fiero the sports car it should have been all along. But what if the plastic Pontiac had never suffered from the misery of the gnashy, pokey Iron Duke engine and had been built from the start with a screaming supercharged V6 making way better than 200 horsepower? The final owner of today's Junkyard Gem sought to make that very Fiero, by dropping in one of the many supercharged 3.8-liter V6s installed in 1990s and 2000s GM factory hot rods. The first Fieros came out in 1983 for model year 1984, and the only engine available that year was the Iron Duke 2.5-liter four-cylinder, which generated its 92 horsepower with the full-throated song of a Soviet tractor stuck in the freezing mud of a Polish sugar-beet field. The 2M4 badging stood for "two seats, mid-engine, four cylinders," just as the numbers in the Oldsmobile 4-4-2 once represented "four carburetor barrels, four-speed manual transmission, dual exhaust." This car is a top-trim-level SE model, which listed for $9,599 (about $24,200 today). The no-frills Fiero cost just $7,999 that year, making these cars far cheaper than the only other reasonably affordable new mid-engined car Americans could buy at that time: the $13,990 Bertone (aka Fiat) X1/9. The Toyota MR2 appeared in North America as a 1985 model with a base price of $10,999 and promptly siphoned off the car-buying cash from a bunch of potential Fiero shoppers.
