1966 Pontiac GTO

Hello,

I have up for sale a beautiful 1966 Pontiac GTO. This is a project car but would take little work to become an absolutely beautiful car. A lot of time and money has been spent on this project which I will describe below. This car started its life as a 389cui backed with a 2 speed power glide automatic transmission. The car was originally order in Fontaine Blue with a black vinyl top and Parchment interior. This color combination will be stunning when completed. I do have the PHS documents that will accompany all other documentation of the vehicle when it is sold to its new owner. Other options the car was order with are as follows:

Radio
Verba-Phonic Rear Speaker
Rear Window Defogger
Rear View Mirror
Clock
Deluxe Wheel Discs
Console with Bucket Seats
Power Steering
Hazzard Warning Lights
Soft Ray Glass (Tinted Glass)
Power Windows

Since I purchased the car I've been slowly working on the restoration and at this point due to so many other projects I do not want to take the time or money to complete it.

The current condition of the car;

Body:

All rust repair has been completed by a professional body shop and completed correctly, rust free. All paint cut in has been completed including the doors and door jams, under hood, under deck lid, and around the front and rear window before reinstalling. The inner fenders are new and the engine compartment has been painted. The car has been put in sealer but needs to be painted.

Interior:

The interior needs some restoration and needs to be completed. I have most of the interior parts and they will be included with the car.

Mechanical:

The engine is a 1966 389 with YC stamping non numbers matching but is period correct. The transmission is a TH automatic. The drivetrain has been installed but the remaining components need to be installed and hooked up in order to fire the car. I removed this motor from a running car before installing. The accessory and exhaust manifolds are removed at this time.

I have a multitude of parts that will be included with the car and can be seen in the photos.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to email you're questions. I will return all emails as soon as possible. If you send me your phone number I can call you and we can speak about the car and its condition if you prefer. Please make yourself aware of everything you need to know before you purchase the car so there are no complications after the sale.

Terms and Conditions:

This vehicle is sold as is where is with absolutely no warranty applied and the sale is final. Buyer to pay deposit within 48 hours end of sale and the remaining funds to be paid within 7 days end of sale by the following forms of payment; cash in person, bank money wire transfer or certified bank cashiers check. If buyer fails to make this payment within this time, the deposit will be forfeited and the car will be re-listed, unless other arrangements have been made between you and I. Buyer assumes all responsibility of shipping, I will make myself available for pickup of the vehicle. I have to the best of my knowledge represented the car as honest as possible.

Junkyard Gem: 1991 Pontiac 6000 LE

Sat, Dec 2 2017

Sibling to the Chevrolet Celebrity and Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera, the Pontiac 6000 sold pretty well during the early-to-middle 1980s, but had been relegated to the dealership bargain bin and fleet-car cul-de-sac by the time of Operation Desert Shield. Here's a final-year-of-manufacture 6000 LE that I photographed in an Arizona self-service wrecking yard. This car was sold new in Arizona, and it will be crushed in the same state, 26 years later. The LE was the cheapest trim level for the 6000 in 1991, but the original purchaser of this car sprang for a few options. For example, instead of the utterly miserable 2.5-liter Iron Duke four-cylinder, this car packs the 3.1-liter V6. That meant 140 horsepower instead of 110, plus an engine note more like a vacuum cleaner sucking up a spaghetti spill than an ailing blender chewing on walnuts. AM, FM, and cassette. Not only that, but the auto-reverse feature meant that your mixtape cassette wouldn't stop right in the middle of your favorite Roxette tune. This content is hosted by a third party. Even the wretched Daewoo-built Pontiac LeMans gets more screen time than the forgotten 6000 in this 1991 TV ad featuring the voice of Captain Picard. This or That: 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 vs. 1984 Pontiac Fiero

Tue, Feb 10 2015

Welcome to another round of This or That, where two Autoblog editors pick a topic, pick a side and pull no punches. Last round pitted yours truly against Associate Editor Brandon Turkus, and my chosen VW Vanagon Syncro narrowly defeated Brandon's 1987 Land Rover. In fact, it was, by far, the closest round we've seen, with 1,907 voters seeing things my way (for 50.8 percent of the vote) versus 1,848 votes for Brandon's Rover (49.2 percent). Sweet, sweet victory! For this latest round of This or That, I've roped Editor Greg Migliore into what I think is a rather fun debate. We've each chosen our favorite terrible cars, setting a price limit of $10,000 to make sure neither of us went too crazy with our automotive atrocities. I think we've both chosen terribly... and I mean that in the best way possible. 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 Jeremy Korzeniewski: Why It's Terrible: Taken in isolation, the Chrysler Crossfire isn't necessarily a terrible car. In fact, it drives pretty darn well, and there's a lot of solid engineering under its slinky shape. Problem is, that engineering was already rather long in the tooth well before Chrysler ever got its hands on it, having come from Mercedes-Benz, which used the basic chassis and drivetrain in a previous version of its SLK coupe and roadster. Granted, the SLK was an okay car, too, but even when new, it hardly set the world on fire with sporty driving dynamics. Chrysler took these decent-but-no-more bits and pieces from the Mercedes parts bin – remember, this car was conceived in the disastrous Merger Of Equals days – and covered them with a rather attractive hard-candy shell. Unfortunately, the super sporty shape wrote checks in the minds of buyers that its well-worn mechanicals were simply unable to cash, though an injection of power courtesy of a supercharged V6 engine in the SRT6 model, as seen here, certainly helped ease some of those woes. In the end, Chrysler was left with a so-called halo car that looked the part but never quite performed the part. It was almost universally panned by critics as an overpriced parts-bin special, which, I must add, was damningly accurate. As a result, sales were very slow, and within the first few months, dealers were clearancing the car at cut-rate prices, just to keep them from taking up too much of the showroom floor. Why It's Not That Terrible, After All: I can speak from personal experience when discussing the Chrysler Crossfire. You see, I owned one. Well, sort of...

Rent the 1967 Pontiac GTO from the XxX films now on Turo

Tue, Jan 10 2017

The process of renting a car usually ranges from mildly annoying to "I'm calling corporate to get you fired." Plainly, it sucks, but sometimes you're left with no alternative. Turo, a peer-to-peer carsharing network, has created what's essentially the AirBnB for cars. Like AirBnB, the quality and variety of the rides varies based on location. If you're in Tucson, Ariz., in the next week, go check out this 1967 Pontiac GTO convertible before the release of XxX: The Return of Xander Cage. Promotions and marketing aside, this is still the opportunity to drive one of the original muscle cars. It's not clear if this is an original GTO or a Pontiac Tempest that was converted, but does it really matter? Old cars never drive as well as you hope, so, as long as it looks and sounds awesome, who cares? The owner listed on Turo is Xander C., Vin Diesel's character from the XxX franchise. This is the car that was used in the original 2002 film, and from the photos it appears to be in better shape than many other movie cars. The exterior is mostly stock, with some slight modifications to the lighting, wheels, exhaust, and trim, with the addition of a funky looking hood scoop that the listing claims shoots flames. It's not clear if it functions as an actual intake because there aren't any notes about what rests under the hood. The listing does ask for premium fuel, so more than likely it's some variation of a high-compression V8. Inside, the dashboard looks like someone raided the AutoZone accessory aisle. There are gauges, dials, toggle switches, and readouts galore. The listing also claims the Goat is packing a rocket launcher and a weapons stash under the seat. $999 per day isn't cheap, but it's less than you'd pay for a day with one of the rent-an-exotic shops you see in Los Angeles or New York. If you're not in Tucson or the price is a little too steep, Turo has what it's dubbed the Adrenaline Collection. The name may be hyperbole, but the lineup of cars is actually really solid. A quick glance reveals a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan, 2001 Ferrari 360 Spider, and a 1969 Jaguar E-Type. The car list keeps expanding, so if this proves popular, look for more cool stuff in the future.
