Up for sale is my 1966 Pontiac GTO. It’s a great car that I bought out of South Georgia about a year ago. Non-matching 400 engine from a 1978 Trans Am professionally and recently rebuilt by NAPA in Bainbridge, GA. Original automatic transmission and rear end. Engine was dynoed at 430 HP. It’s a little cold-natured but starts, runs, shift, drives and stops great. I drove it 250 miles over Thanksgiving and oil pressure, temp, etc. were great and steady.

The car is very solid with only surface rust underneath except for 1 thumb sized hole in the passenger floor pan. The body is great as well and I don’t think it has any bondo to speak of. There are a couple of rust bubbles in the bottom front door corners and on the front cowl near the bottom of the front windshield.

Paint is good. It has one small rubbed place on front right fender that needs attention. New Cooper tires and new 15” wheels.

Interior is good including seats, dashpad, carpet, headliner and hat rack. Driver seat has a crease from front to back.

Chrome is good. Glass is perfect except for a single “star” in front windshield. Original AM radio in dash, but has aftermarket radio attached underneath. Heat, fan, controls, etc. work as they should.

Power antennae does not work. Needs weather stripping around windows. Needs plastic dome light cover.

Car is currently registered in Alabama where they don’t title cars that old. Will be sold with bill of sale and registration.

Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end auction at any time. Winning bidder should plan on picking car up within two weeks of auction end.

Pontiac Firebird in latest Generation Gap scrap

Generation Gap is mining the Lingenfelter collection again this week to compare two very different interpretations of the Pontiac Firebird. An original 1968 example goes toe-to-toe with a 2010 Lingenfelter Trans Am to see whether the old man or the modern re-imagining takes the crown.
Being from the Lingenfelter collection, both cars are absolutely immaculate. The '68 packs a Pontiac 350-cubic-inch (5.7-liter) V8 with a claimed 320 horsepower and some classic, muscular style with a hood-mounted tach. Plus, it's painted in an understated shade of green that you don't usually see.
In the other corner is Lingenfelter's pumped-up take on the classic shape based on the modern Camaro, and this is just one of six concept versions ever made. It wears an eye-catching, vintage-inspired livery of blue with a white stripe package. Under its shaker hood is a 455-cubic-inch (7.5-liter) V8 with a reported 655 hp and 610 pound-feet of torque.

GM recalling 70k Chevy Malibus, Pontiac G6s over steering issue

A problem with the power steering system in the Chevy Malibu and Pontiac G6 has prompted General Motors and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to issue a recall for an estimated 69,633 vehicles. The issue revolves around the electric power steering assist, which could suddenly fail and increase the risk of a crash, especially at low speeds where the power steering is most helpful. The recall affects 2006-2007 Chevy Malibu sedans and Malibu Maxx wagons (specifically those manufactured between April 1, 2006, and June 30, 2006), as well as the Pontiac G6 (which was offered as a sedan, coupe or convertible) from the same model years and manufactured from April 18, 2006, to June 30, 2006. Owners of the affected units can expect to hear from the manufacturer with instructions to bring in their vehicles to their local dealers to have the torque sensors in the power steering system replaced. In the affected vehicles, there may be a sudden loss of electric power steering (EPS) assist that could occur at any time while driving. CONSEQUENCE: If power steering assist is lost, greater driver effort would be required to steer the vehicle at low speeds, increasing the risk of a crash. REMEDY: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the torque sensor assembly, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
