Highlights of the modifications during the restoration include: To further accentuate the beautiful design lines, the door handles have been shaved and automatic door openers installed. "Pacific Blue" is the hue first made popular on the Jaguar S class. This beautiful and highly reflective color is finished in base coat/clear coat, and is gorgeous both in or out of the sun light. The trunk includes a mount for the nitrous tank (the line is run to the engine bay) and everything is ready to hook up if and when you want! There is also an electronic pulsating light in the trunk, and the battery has been relocated there as well. The GTO is powered by a completely rebuilt Pontiac 400 Over bored .30 to 4072 ci. The average engine temperature while cruising is 185 - 195 degrees. Power is transfered to the ground by a Borg Warner T5 5 speed transmission, the short throw of the Hurst shifter makes this one fun car to drive. Flowmaster 40 series mufflers and custom 2 1/2 exhaust system makes it sound as good it looks and drives, while the Pertronix Flame Thrower HEI distributor delivers plenty of spark. The GTO drives and stops straight with added front disc brakes, does not needlessly drift, and the 17" Boyd Coddington "Stingray" wheels insures it corners very nicely. The gas tank and fuel lines are all new. Fri, Apr 9 2021

This week's Autoblog Podcast features Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore and Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski as they debate the merits of the redesigned Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86 coupes and whether or not they are distinctive and powerful enough to attract buyers. The duo spends some time discussing ongoing EV and infrastructure legislation before turning their attention to a trio of crossovers. Greg muses about the 2021 Mazda CX-30 before Jeremy talks about the refreshed 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross and completely redesigned Outlander. We get nostalgic as we remember the dearly departed Pontiac GTO before wrapping the podcast up by making one more suggestion to a longtime listener who is shopping for a vehicle to replace her aging Honda Pilot. Lutz says Washington killed Pontiac, next G6 was to be ATS derivative

Tue, 29 Oct 2013

How many people think Buick or GMC should have gotten the axe instead of Pontiac? You can't see it, but I'm raising my hand. Autoweek reports that former Vice Chairman of GM, Bob Lutz, has indicated that things didn't have to end up the way they did.
"The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.'"
In a talk given at the Petersen Automotive Museum for the Inside the MotoMan Studio series, Lutz says "The Feds said, 'Yeah, how much money have you made on Pontiac in the last 10 years?' and the answer was, 'Nothing.' So, it goes. And when the guy who is handing you the check for $53 billion says, 'I don't want Pontiac, drop Pontiac or you don't get the money,' it doesn't take you very long to make up your mind." Lutz even added that the next-generation Pontiac G6 would have benefitted from the rear-wheel-drive platform of the Cadillac ATS. How awesome would that have been?

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
