For your consideration, one gold 1965 Pontiac GTO hardtop. It has a 389 engine with a 4 speed trans. and a 10 bolt rear end.Engine casting YS 169702. Block casting 9778789, L145 decodes as a 1965 389 with a date code of Dec.15, 1964 so I believe it is the original block. Head casting is 13 which decodes as a 1970 400 330-350 hp. Intake manifold casting 9786286 a277 decodes as a 1967 400 325-335-360 hp. The carb casting is 7040262 xa1060. The 4 speed set up looks to have been added because the radiator has a heat exchanger in it for a auto trans. The car was restored about 20 or so years ago and still looks good. It appears to have been painted in its original color and the interior was done with cloth seat inserts. The floors and frame look original and are in good shape, the rest of the body panels look good but I can't tell what is or isn't original. The car has been sitting in a dry garage with a cover on it since 1996. The motor turns over but we haven't tried to start it.This would be a great car to enjoy as it is with some work or a great candidate for a easy restoration to show condition.I am selling this for a friend of mine and you can reach me at 508-586-3152 EST.and I will try to answer all your questions. The car is located 1/2 hour south of Boston. A little bit of provenance. This car belonged to Bob Andresen of Woodland and Andresen Drag Team fame back in the 60s. It was his last machine.Happy Bidding!

Tony Stewart to star in Smoke Is The Bandit web series
Mon, 10 Mar 2014NASCAR driver Tony Stewart is making good use of his nickname Smoke in new videos inspired by the 1970s classic Smokey and the Bandit. The original is one of the quintessential automotive movies of its era with a fantastic combination of slapstick comedy and great car stunts in a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. If you've never seen it, check it out immediately.
In the new six-part Smoke IS the Bandit web series, Stewart takes on the role of Burt Reynolds' famous character complete with huge mustache. But instead of trying to smuggle cases of Coors beer it's Mobil 1 oil. The series promises to recreate many of the famous scenes from the movie and includes cameos from other NASCAR drivers.
To complete the look, future videos just need a quality replacement for a young Sally Field to ride shotgun. It would also be really cool if Reynolds could make a brief appearance at some point. Scroll down to check out the trailer and the first episode in the series.
Steve McQueen barn find: Movie Trans Am surfaces after almost 40 years
Mon, Dec 17 2018An important Steve McQueen film car has emerged from barn storage. No, it's not yet another " Bullitt" Mustang, quite the contrary: The car in question is a 1980 Pontiac Trans Am, and it starred in McQueen's final film, " The Hunter." In the movie, McQueen plays a bounty hunter, and while in " Bullitt" he's quite the wheelman, that's not the case in this one. McQueen's character, "Papa" Thorson, is a horrible driver, and the Trans Am is far too much car for him. A chase sequence sees McQueen driving a combine harvester to catch the perps who are driving his stolen rental Pontiac, and the Trans Am ends up blown in half with dynamite, then returned to the airport on a trailer. The driver of said GMC truck and trailer combination, Harold McQueen (no relation), received the title of the first car used in filming, and for the following decades planned to fix the now-ruined car, but never got around to it. Instead, the 1,300-mile Pontiac wreck sat on a farm for nearly 40 years, until Harold decided to sell it to an enthusiast. There's studio documentation proving the car's pedigree, and stunt modifications can be seen in the Pontiac's floor and dash. While it's obviously in dreadful condition, the car remained more intact than the other stunt car the film crew blew up even more spectacularly — that car ended up as the pile of parts in the airport scene, and those bits and pieces were eventually dropped off at a junkyard after a Pontiac dealer refused them. McQueen did also drive a 1951 Chevrolet in the film, and kept that yellow convertible after filming was wrapped up. Sadly, he was diagnosed with cancer just a month later, after reportedly being in poor health during the shooting, and passed away in December 1980. The yellow Chevy stayed with his estate for some years, later getting restored and auctioned. Right now, it's not clear what the Trans Am's fate will be. The car's current owner, Calvin Riggs from Carlyle Motors in Katy, Texas, wants to know more about the Trans Am and the film shoot: His post on Hemmings includes a lot of information, but more would be useful.
