This is a PHS documented WS code Tri-power 4 speed air conditioned GTO.  The AC system has been completely refurbished (valves, diaphragms, control panel, etc.) and converted to 134 A by a retired AC Delco specialist.

Being an original California car sold new at Corcoran Motors in Fremont, it is a zero rust vehicle.  It has power steering and brakes along with a tilt column, woood wheel, vacuum gauge, exhaust splitters and accessory 4-way flasher.  The facotry AM-FM radio received an upgraded circutry retrofit while maintaining it's completely stock appearance.  All systems function properly inclusive of lights, turn signals, horn, wipers and washer system, courtesy and back-up lamps, parking brake lamp and complete rally gauge cluster.

The F70x14 redlines are in excellent condition along with a 7.75x14 redline spare and restored jack assembly.  It has T-3 headlamps as well.

The body is very straight overall.  A very minor amount of work appears to have been done over the wheel well on the driver's side 1/4 panel, but can only be noticed under close scrutiny.  The fontaine blue paint is a base and clear coated application.  It has a few small touch ups and blemishes , but receives compliments and shows quite nicely.  The chrome is excellent with the only negative being a 1 1/4 " crack in the tail panel moulding (see Picture).  The tail end back-up lamp bezels are new.

The seat covers, headliner, doorpanels, and carpeting have been replaced.  All of the console chrome is new.  There are a few hairline cracks in the passenger side corner of the dashpad and a small split in the driver's side rear panel (see pictures).  Aftermarket gauges had been installed at one point, leaving the small openings for the screws under the dashboard center.

The engine is aWS code block with the proper 77 heads and a casting date of L-4-4 (December '64) .  It performs nicely and is coupled to a smooth shifting 4 speed with the proper shift assembly.  The rear is dated L-6-4 (December '64) with a WF stamp on the passenger side, indicating a standard 3:23 ratio which was applicable to air conditioned vehicle.

The exhaust system appears to be galvanized and was on the car at the time of my purchase.

I STRONGLY URGE anyone interested to view the car in person.  Please bid only if serious. A $1,000 paypal deposit is due within 48 hours of auction closing.  A wire transfer is preferable for the remaining balance.

Burt Reynolds' old Pontiac Trans Am replica sold for $317,500

Thu, Jun 20 2019

Following Burt Reynolds' passing last September, Julien's Auctions held an estate sale of the late actor's property on June 15-16 in Beverly Hills, Calif. Hundreds of items were included in the auction, but none more valuable than the Pontiac Trans Am Bandit replica previously owned by Reynolds. It easily surpassed expectations when it sold for $317,500. Julien's, the self-proclaimed experts in contemporary and pop culture, listed 876 pieces in the sale, from cowboy boots to a driver's license to scripts. The online preview said it estimated a range of prices from $25 to $200,000. They were way off. Item No. 716 was a replica of a Pontiac Trans Am Bandit that was seen in the original "Smokey and the Bandit." Not the real car, just a re-creation. But its value comes more from who owned the ride rather than what the car was. The replica was owned by Reynolds for some years, and now that he's passed, it's coveted even more. It's not the only Trans Am item that sold at auction. Three Reynolds Trans Am model cars sold for $640, $576 and $512. A Reynolds-signed "Bandit" poster sold for $3,200. A Reynolds-signed poster from the Trans Am plant sold for $1,562.50, a Reynolds custom-built Trans Am office desk sold for $4,375, and a "Smokey and the Bandit" decorative etched glass panel sold for $896. This isn't the first time a Bandit replica has sold for big money. In 2016, a promotional Trans Am sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction for $550,000. We also believe the exact car sold in this Julien's auction was previously bought at a Barrett-Jackson auction in 2018 for $192,500. If that's the case, somebody just made an extremely easy profit.

Distracted driver crosses center line and hits police car

Wed, Apr 6 2016

Attentive driving and quick reflexes saved the life of a police officer in Hudson, WI, when an oncoming driver drifted into the officer's lane and struck his cruiser. According to KMSP, the officer was patrolling along a busy road through Hudson on March 31 when the crash occurred. Dash cam video from the patrol car which was released to local media shows the dramatic collision unfold. As the officer came around a mild left-hand curve, a white, 90s-era Pontiac Grand Am continued straight through the curve, across the center line, and directly into the officer's path. The officer was able to avoid a head-on collision, but the Pontiac still struck the driver's side of the patrol car. "Both the officer and the other driver are ok, however, this accident could have been much, much worse," said a Hudson Police Department official on the department's Facebook page. "So please remember to pay attention to your driving at all times when behind the wheel." Minnesota's Department of Public Safety estimates that one in every four crashes in the State of Minnesota are caused by distracted drivers. DPS believes that the actual number may be higher, but police often have difficulty proving distracted driving as the cause of a crash. Government/Legal Pontiac Driving Safety Coupe Police/Emergency

Michigan floods from breached dams consume Pontiac Fiero collection

Thu, May 21 2020

“WeÂ’ve never had an event like this,” Michigan's city manager Brad Kaye said in a Detroit News story. "What we're looking at is an event that is the equivalent of a 500-year flood." Kaye is referencing the catastrophic flood that occurred in central Michigan this week after heavy rainfall was compounded by two breached dams on the Tittabawassee River. Reports say the flooding forced evacuation of up to 10,000 residents, swallowed entire towns, and destroyed thousands of properties. No casualties have been reported, according to the Detroit Free Press, but car enthusiasts will be sad to learn a Pontiac Fiero shop and collection called Forever Fieros was decimated by the natural disaster. The Tittabawassee River is located about two hours, or roughly 140 miles, north of Detroit. It starts 20-30 miles further north and flows southeast as a tributary to the Saginaw Bay Watershed. Along the way, the Tittabawassee is held up by several dams, including the Edenville dam that failed and the Sanford dam that was breached during torrential downpours. According to NPR, the federal government took away the Edenville dam's license in 2018 and suggested it could not last through a major flood. Unfortunately, that prediction was proven accurate.  Forever Fieros is located in Sanford, Michigan, which is just below Sanford Lake, which is created by the Sanford dam. So when the Edenville dam north of Sanford broke, water from Wixom Lake flooded Sanford Lake, and a berm next to the Sanford dam was overwhelmed, according to MLive. Technically the dam did not fail, but the end result was the same: an entire town underwater. The Tittabawassee reportedly crested at 35 feet, or 10 feet above flood level and 1.1 feet higher than the previous record set in 1986. According to The Drive, the man in charge of Forever Fieros, Tim Evans, had time to attempt to save his vehicles from floodwater. He reportedly moved about 12 cars to a street that doesn't typically flood, but the water level was simply too high for that to matter. A floating pole barn also reportedly struck and damaged the  Forever Fieros building.  Worsening the situation is the fact that Evans was planning to hold an auction to sell many of the Fieros. As seen on Industrial Bid, he planned to sell 12 Fieros, Fiero GTs and a Fiero Formula, ranging from 1984 through 1988. The lots included a 1984 pace car, a Lamborghini Countach kit car, and a Fiero Cosworth Pontiac Super Duty 16-valve DOHC engine.
