The car has had a full ground-up restoration from Corbettes Auto in Western NC. Funds from three combat deployments and two re-enlistment bonuses went into a five year project. I have receipts of over $100,000.00 for parts and labor; an additional $10,500.00 for the purchase of the 2006 GTO and thousands more in transportation costs. I began the project as a bachelor. I am married and a father today. End of story.
Details:
Interior of car and underside have been coated with bed liner protection. Using PPG products, the body was put in primer and sanded, color coated and sanded, and five coats of clear applied and sanded. The paint is absolutely beautiful.
The car has a full custom interior from JNG Creations in NC. I am most grateful for the exquisite work this award winning shop did on the GTO; the price he gave me he stuck too and said if he had another one to do it would be triple the price. Using a combination of modified '06 GTO interior pieces and custom panels, they created my favorite part of the car: power seats, power windows, a stereo without the exterior antenna, power locks, and many milled aluminum custom touches.
The following systems and parts were transferred for the '06 GTO: LS2 engine and T56 six speed transmission (dyno tuned to 375 RWHP), wheel hubs and brakes (these will accept any custom wheel for the '06 GTO), wiring harness and engine control module, the entire floor pan and some interior pieces, and the air-conditioning.
Major NEW parts installed: Moser 12 bolt with 373 gears, Unisteer power rack and pinion steering, Edelbrock suspension components completely replace the old system, Forge Star 18" wheels with Hankook tires.
Deficiencies: warning lights on dash for ABS and airbag have not been turned off, hideaway headlights are not operating ( I have been waiting for the sale of a promised electric motor system kit.), AC needs charging.
All serious inquiries are welcome. As a combat MOS Marine, I am very often in the field but my father is always ready to respond ASAP.

Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi
Sat, Jun 19 2021The General's Pontiac Division sold Bonnevilles from 1958 through 2005, which turned out to be well over half of the marque's existence. Named after the Bonneville Salt Flats, some Bonnevilles were huge but pretty quick, others were slow-motion land yachts, and some were nearly indistinguishable from their Buick and Oldsmobile brethren. The final generation, sold for the 2000 through 2005 model years, were among the quickest and most distinctive-looking Bonnevilles ever built, but they arrived in showrooms at a time when the clock was ticking for the division's very survival. Today's Junkyard Gem is one of those cars, an '01 with the hot-rod SSEi package. The Bonneville SSEi first appeared in the 1992 model year, just a year after the Buick Park Avenue Ultra was the first of many GM cars to get the 3.8-liter Buick V6 with an Eaton supercharger bolted on top. Production of the Bonneville SSEi continued through the 2003 model year, after which the GXP version and its Cadillac Northstar V8 took over. The 2001 version of this engine made 240 horsepower, good for plenty of torque-steery fun. Could you get this car with a manual transmission? What do you think? Some cursory research indicates that 1970 was the last model year for a three-pedal Bonneville, and even those cars must be incredibly rare. This one looks to have been in nice shape when it arrived here, with the original manuals still in the glovebox. By 2006, the Bonneville was gone; four years later, Pontiac was gone. eBay Find of the Day: 1967 Pontiac GTO Monkeemobile
Sun, 29 Apr 2012Say what you will about The Monkees, but the guys in the band had great taste in automobiles. Take the Monkeemobile, for example. Built off a 1967 Pontiac GTO Convertible, the custom featured genuinely interesting bodywork and some wild engine bolt-ons. If you're a fan of 1960s pop and yearn to relive the genre's glory days, eBay Motors may have what you need. A recreation of the 1967 Monkeemobile has showed up for auction. This particular replica was built by Dakota County Customs using an four-speed GTO, just like the original.
Built for the band's 45th anniversary and the final Monkees tour last year, this Monkeemobile is faithful down to every last detail. Unfortunately, the trumpet exhaust poking out of the front fender wells and the massive gold-flake blower are for show only. Seems fitting.
If you like what you see, this machine is up for bid in Richfield, Minnesota with two days left on the auctions. So far, bidding as whipped up to $60,000 with the reserve not met. Head over to eBay Motors to have a look.
2008-2009 Pontiac G8 recalled over airbag concern
Mon, 07 Nov 2011General Motors is recalling around 38,000 Pontiac G8 sedans from its 2008 and 2009 model years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that the cars may have a passenger-side airbag flaw that might prevent proper deployment in certain scenarios.
According to NHTSA, the airbag might not adequately protect a fifth percentile woman - that is, a woman around four-foot, 11-inches weighing 108 pounds. The New York Times indicates that the anomaly was found during a crash test conducted by GM's Australian branch, Holden, which was testing the G8's twin (read: Commodore) for head injuries. According to that report, the test in question is specifically tailored to simulate injuries to females, so the results do not apply to men or children.
The issue has been blamed on a seat position sensor that governs airbag deployment rates. NHTSA indicates that when the front passenger seat is moved all the way forward, the faulty sensor may inappropriately trigger a 30-millisecond delay between airbag stages, potentially leading to greater injuries.
