Hello Bidders,
Here we have a pre-muscle car MUSCLE CAR! I say that due to the BIG BLOCK V8 303 HP MOTOR, and the world famous GTO stacked headlight front end!
THIS 1963 CAR PRE DATED THE GTO STACKED HEADLIGHTS THAT STARTED THE GTO CRAZE IN 1964!
This car really turns heads, especially amongst GTO  lovers, and don't ya dig that concave rear glass window!

OVERALL: In short; it's a daily driver for the PONTIAC & GTO enthusiast out there.

THE GOOD: A true head turner. GTO headlights rock, let's face it. Installed new brakes two months ago using rebuilt original system with fresh master and booster. Work done in California and shipped back here to Florida and installed. Excellent interior with no obvious holes or rips. Fresh carpet and good floor pans. Dashboard has a slim crack in the center. Good glass all the way around with no cracks, but front windshield shows some scratches from age. Windows all roll up and down. Motor starts every time and sounds strong, but would benefit from a dual exhaust system. Headlights, tail lights, and the really cool Pontiac vacuum gauge on console all work. Gas gauge and odometer stopped working recently. I'm assuming it has 149,999, but maybe not, as it belonged to an elderly woman 2 owners before me. We put all new vacuum lines on the engine, two new belts, and it has a newer battery, maybe 1 year old. Has fresh set of BF Goodrich Radial TA's. Engine compartment is nice and clean looking. Throw some Cragar SS rims on this beauty and you instantly have a stout muscle car ride.

THE BAD: Paint is dull and oxidized. Has a few dings on lower right side just behind passenger door. Hard to see in photos. Has rust spots in trunk lid and along some areas of rear window trim ( NOTE; I have a rust free trunk lid, see EXTRAS below). The trunk floor has been repaired and repainted by a previous owner and is holding up well, even when heavy items are put in it.
All floor pans appear good, but there is rust in various parts of frame rails mostly near the junction box in front of rear wheel wells. These areas need a good grind and patch treatment. Or if you want to fully frame off restore, you'll need a donor frame to work with and cut from. The suspension is a bit on floaty bouncy side and is is in need of new bushings shocks etc at some point down the road. Although floaty bouncy IS comfortable going down the road. :^)

THE FREE EXTRAS: I have 4 extra body panels that go with the car: One rust free trunk deck, also second rust free hood ( I was was going to cut one up for a hood scoop/ blower, and keep one hood all original  ) I also have two fresh 99% rust free doors. All are in storage. These extra body panels come with the car!  A great addition to the auction! I also have an extra set of rear tail lights and the slatted piece of chrome trim that runs in between the rear tail lights. I also have an alternate "beefier" intake manifold (original PONTIAC part), that is painted silver and in ready to bolt on condition.
I figure the retail value of all these extra parts is near $600-$700 alone.
You would need to pick these extra parts up here in Florida, no delivery available.

FUNCTIONALITY/ DEPENDABILITY: In short, this old 1963 starts, runs well, brakes well, and rides well, not perfect, but well. Doesn't blow smoke, backfire etc.

I have clear clean Florida title in hand with no liens. Non smoking owner.
You can pick car up in Gainesville Florida, or, I can help it get loaded on a hauler if you'd like.
European bidders welcome, just make sure you arrange for pickup.
Payment must be made in full before car leaves my possession.
Please ask questions before you bid. NO RETURNS ON MY CAR SALES. I can send more photos if you like, please just email me.
And PLEASE, no funny business, I've seen all the scams before.
I disclose everything I know and see, about everything I sell. There are lots of details on a car, so please forgive me if I forgot to mention something. I believe I covered all the most important aspects.
Please look at our feedback and bid with confidence.
I have a reasonable reserve, HAPPY BIDDING!

Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."

Porsche Sports Car Together Fest is a labor of many Porsche loves

Sat, Sep 17 2022

Over Labor Day Weekend, Porsche held its second annual Sports Car Together Fest (SCTF) at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. We happened to be nearby, so we swung by to check out an event we’d never heard of until a few weeks before. Reading about it on Porsche's U.S. web site made us think it would be something like Rennsport Reunion for the Midwest. Turns out SCTF is just as much of a different kind of fun. The fest Tom MooreÂ’s the man behind Dark Horse Motorsports, the motorsport consultant for Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) PR. "People love Rennsport Reunion, but thatÂ’s every three to four years," he explained. “We wanted to gather people on those off years, and we didn't want to just do a mini Rennsport, because thatÂ’s its own thing. WeÂ’ve maintained the motorsport history at Rennsport. Here [at SCTF], we're doing the current look at what Porsche racing is for." In this case, that means gathering what Moore called "our Porsche motorsport pyramid." ThatÂ’s the range of enthusiast drivers from novice to hotshoes trying to get to top-tier endurance racing, "[starting] with the progression from Porsche Club of America track days up to the top of the ladder of one-make racing in North America," the Carrera Cup North America, a series made up of nothing but the latest 500-horsepower 911 GT3 Cup cars.  The three days of racing action allowed almost any kind of Porsche owner interested in clipping apexes to compete around an Indianapolis Motor Speedway layout tweaked with an infield section. This year, that included ex-NASCAR star Jeff Gordon, coming out of retirement to reunite with his longtime NASCAR crew chief Ray Evernham for the top-class Cup races.  Evernham told us Gordon hasnÂ’t raced in five years and he hasnÂ’t been a crew chief in 22. On very short practice, Gordon finished in 14th in the Pro Class in the first Carrera Cup race of the weekend driving the #24 Hendrick Performance Group Porsche, and 11th in the second race. Afterward, he said, "I made a pass on the white flag lap. That made my whole weekend Â… I must say that yesterday, I thought ‘man, I am getting beat out hereÂ’ and I donÂ’t like that. If I am going to be in an environment like this, I want to be competitive. But today turned the corner for me. So, I hope I get to do another one day."  When we strolled the paddock after the event, exposed sheet metal proved "Rubbing is racing" is a thing in the Carrera Cup as well as NASCAR.

Junkyard Gem: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP

Tue, Jun 19 2018

For General Motors, the W platform just kept giving and giving and giving for decade after decade, serving as the basis of Buick Regals, Oldsmobile Intrigues, Chevrolet Monte Carlos, and many, many more models. The final and most powerful Pontiac W-Body, the sixth-generation Grand Prix GTP, rolled off assembly lines for the 1997 through 2003 model years. Here's one in a Northern California self-service wrecking yard. GM bolted the supercharged 3800 V6 into vast numbers of cars during this era, providing a deep reservoir of cheap blowers for unwise high-boost projects. 240 front-tire-charring horses, complete with a Roots-type blower scream from the Eaton supercharger under the hood. I see plenty of blown 3800s during my junkyard travels, from the Bonneville SSEi to the Oldsmobile LSS. Depressingly, GM stopped putting manual transmissions in the Grand Prix during the 1993 model year, so '01 GTP owners had to take the four-speed slushbox. This one came close to the magic 200,000-mile mark, but fell 25,000 short. The interior took a beating during its life, ending its time on the road with shredded upholstery and dirty panels. Seven-band graphic equalizers were all the rage during the 1980s, but GM kept the tradition alive into our current century. This content is hosted by a third party.
