I have a 2000 GTP with a rebuilt 3.8 SC, it has higher compression then a normal 3.8 making it faster then the stock about 95k on the rebuild, it also has a spectre cold air intake, a aftermarket computer and a blower that's been ported, the car is around 280 HP which is quite a bit more then the stocks and it still has a lot of performance left to be done. I've been told she's pushing 300 HP. It runs with 5.0's and my friends 300 HP Vette, THIS CAR IS FAST. The tranny has also been rebuilt with a shift kit, it has abut 20k on the rebuild. Has a ws6 hood, new halo headlights and new led taillights. The halos need wired in. It has gauge pods that need wired up, they show a variety of colors when there hooked up. The A/C blows VERY cold, just had a full service oil change. The car has a lot of new parts: front wheel bearings, rotors, brakes all the way around, tires all the way around, tie rod ends, camber, rack n pinion, power steering lines & pump, transmission pan gasket, front end alignment, the motor mounts and rear struts were replaced when the engine was rebuilt. I have all the paint for the car and there's a lot left, blue leds and gtp emblems that will go with the car. The rims are just factory ones but painted black. The body is pretty close to perfect just a couple little things, one of the pics show a spot on the passenger side door but you have to get up really close to see it. A piece of the trim is a little off on the passenger side because of a broken clip, and then on the back bottom piece where it says Pontiac in black there's little scratches but otherwise the car looks great! When it was painted 5 coats of paint were put on then 3 coats of clear coat. The door jams do need finished but like I said I have all the paint left over. The color is metallic sonic blue. The inside could use a little cleaning up but nothing major. The carpet needs shampooed or replaced due to previous owners leaving stains primarily on the back floorboard. The leather is in good shape no tears but a little wear on the front two seats there custom with Grand Prix stitched in them, the backseats look great. The headliner is newer but it sags a tiny bit on one side it just needs adjusted, and only one of the door panels matches it and its in the back the other 3 are the original cloth panels and the front two have a couple small cigarette burns in them due to previous owners. It does have working power locks and windows but there is no remote for the car just 2 keys. The blue dash could have been painted better but it looks good, the window tint is old and the car needs a rearview mirror. Under the hood around the edges is blue but the motor was never pulled out to paint the inside of the engine so its still maroon. Other then that this car is AWESOME, I have over $8000 in it and am selling because I have 2 vehicles and need to get rid of one.

Autoblog Classifieds finds: 1987 Pontiac Fiero GT
Tue, May 15 2018Autoblog's free Readers' Used Car Classifieds section is a great place to list your car for sale, and because these are readers, they often list really interesting cars. Occasionally we find interesting listings, and tell you what's special about them. This 1987 Pontiac Fiero was listed for sale at the time of this writing, but if the listing expires by the time you read this, feel free to browse for other great finds. Thirty years after General Motors stopped building it, the Pontiac Fiero might have finally emerged from the darkness. First, it was a humble commuter car that just happened to be a mid-engined coupe, then it was a re-skinnable basis for Fierorraris or other slightly strange kit cars, and then it made some Worst Cars of All Time lists due to its econobox ingredients, including its Chevy Citation suspension parts. But after a few decades, even the most mediocre car will become interesting as most of the examples built have been run into the ground; why not then the Fiero? The story of the Fiero is paralleled by a number of GM products, as it improved constantly the longer it was built, and by the time of the last model years it was quite decent indeed. And then the plug was pulled. The Fiero might not be a Toyota MR2 or even a Fiat X1/9, but it was made in two body styles, the notchback and the fastback, the latter of which looks especially good now. The Fiero also remains quite affordable, and the plastic body panels do not rust, unlike with the two aforementioned cars. This 1987 car advertised for sale at Autoblog Classifieds does not yet benefit from the 1988 cars' improved suspension, but thanks to its low, low 47,000-mile odometer reading, it looks to be in tip-top shape. The automatic transmission is just the three-speed affair, though, rendering the V6 car here more of a cruiser than a fiery hot canyon carver. Perhaps that has contributed to its good condition, along with the lack of possibly leaky T-tops. Could the Fiero have aged better than your Hall & Oates tapes? Junkyard Gem: 1980 Pontiac Grand Prix LJ
Sat, Mar 4 2023A couple of years before John DeLorean and his team at the Pontiac Division created the GTO by pasting a big engine and some gingerbread on the LeMans, they created a rakish, powerful coupe based on the staid full-size Catalina. This was the 1962 Pontiac Grand Prix, which sold like crazy and escalated the personal luxury coupe war already brewing in Detroit. Starting with the 1969 model year, the Grand Prix switched to a smaller chassis (shared the following year with the new Chevrolet Monte Carlo), and all subsequent rear-wheel-drive Grand Prix (that is, through 1987) remained siblings of the Monte. Today's Junkyard Gem is a rare 1980 Grand Prix LJ, found in a self-service yard near Reno, Nevada. Sure, a fresh round of Middle East conflict had put a kink in America's fuel hose in 1979, leading to gas lines and a general sense of malaise, but at least the new Grand Prix looked extra sharp for 1980. The LJ package came with all sorts of appearance and comfort goodies, including these "luxury seats with loose-pillow design in New Florentine Cloth." A Pontiac Phoenix LJ was available as well. These seats must have been very comfortable when new. Who needed a Cadillac when Pontiac would sell you this car at a base MSRP of just $7,000 (about $26,704 in 2023 dollars)? That price was what you paid if you were willing to get the base 3.8-liter Buick V6, though. To get a V8 engine with four-barrel carburetor, you had to pay extra. If you did pay the extra for a V8, which one you got depended on which state you lived in; in California, you got this 305-cubic-inch (5.0-liter Chevrolet small-block), and in the other 49 states you got a 301-cubic-inch (4.9-liter) Pontiac. The 305 was rated at 150 horsepower with 230 pound-feet; the 301 made 140hp and 240 lb-ft. This car was originally bought in California (the state line is about ten miles away from its final parking spot), so it has the Chevy engine. The V8 added $195 (plus $250 for the California-only emissions system) to the out-the-door price of the car, or about $1,316 in 2023 dollars. Outside of California, a 4.3-liter Chevy V6 was available for just 80 additional bucks ($305 now). All 1980 Grand Prix got a three-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment, with no manual available from the factory. This car has the optional air conditioning, which cost $601 ($2,293 after inflation). This is the "Custom Sport" steering wheel, which was standard on the LJ. The tilt option cost $81 ($309 today).
NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall
Wed, 13 Mar 2013
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.
