Greetings Bidders-

Up for auction is my 1969 Grand Prix Model J Coupe. I bought her from a classic car dealer that bought her from the original owner last year. She has been garaged all of her life and is rust free and very sweeeeeet!  She drives, rides, and shifts as she did when she was brand new. She drives true and straight and has no squeaks or rattles. DRIVE HER ANYWHERE with complete confidence! All lights, signals, horn, winshield wipers work as they should! This car is truly original and unmolested! She has the original AM radio that still works! The paint is a year old and very shiny but it's a driver quality paint job. I get thumbs up every time I drive her! She just turned 91,000 on the odometer. The mileage I believe to be correct by looking at the repair records and the condition of the car bears this out. The chrome is original and is still very nice! The interior is very nice. The seats are original and the upholstery is in excellent shape with no cuts or tears! The dash is perfect with no cracks! In April she got a complete valve job, along with a new camshaft, (270 duration) double roller chain and roller tip rocker arms, billet HEI distributer and 750 Holley carb. She idles with a rumpety, rumpety rump through new two chambered Flowmasters!  Compression is 187 psi low, to 190 psi high! While we were at it I had the engine removed, cleaned, resealed,  painted and reinstalled. Also I installed a brand new heavy duty aluminum radiatorwith new belts and hoses! Even in 100 plus degree temperatures, she never gets any hotter than 190 degrees. The wheels and tires are brand new. Cragar 15x8's all the way around with 225/60's on the front and 255/60's on the rear. I have the original Ralley 2 wheels, caps and beauty rings that go with the car if Buy It Now Option is selected. They are also in exellent condition! Otherwise, the winning bidder can buy them for $750.00. Bid with confidence! This is a very nice driver quality automobile! I would rate the engine/drivetrain as a solid 10, body/chrome/ paint 7.5, interior, 8.5 Good luck bidding! The only reason I'm selling her is I'm buying a new house and I need to boost my down payment a bit. Whoever wins her will be very happy! Disclaimer: Please don't expect this car to be a showroom condition car! It is not perfect, but for it's age, I don't believe you will find a nicer, unmolested car in this price range! BIDDERS WITH LESS THAN 10 FEEDBACK, CONTACT ME BEFORE BIDDING! Good Luck Bidding!

1939 Pontiac Ghost Car commands $308,000 at auction

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

For the 1939 World's Fair, Pontiac built a Deluxe Six bodied in Plexiglass. Part of the Previews of Progress pavilion in which General Motors' Futurama showed off what was to come in the world of autos, the 'invisible' Pontiac is credited as the first transparent car in America. And there were no shortcuts taken with its body: the Plexiglass form was fabricated by the company that brought the material to market in 1933, Rohm & Haas.
The see-through sedan was sold at RM Auctions' St. John's auction in Michigan on July 30, fetching $308,000. Not bad appreciation for a domestic oddity that cost $25,000 to build when new. You can check out the high-res gallery of its innards, including copper and chrome metalwork and white moldings and wheels, and get the exhaustive details on it after the jump.

Even Ferrari swept up in latest Takata recall expansion

Fri, May 27 2016

The scope of Takata's deadly airbag problems continues to widen. Eight manufacturers announced recalls Friday that affect more than 12 million vehicles, according to documents filed with federal regulators. The automakers include Honda, which is recalling 4.5 million units, Fiat Chrysler with 4.3 million, Toyota with 1.65 million, and Subaru, which is recalling almost 400,000. Some of these cars include the Saab 9-2x and Pontiac Vibe that Toyota and Subaru made for General Motors. Mazda will recall 730,000 vehicles and Nissan has 400,000 affected units. The smallest numbers were posted by Mitsubishi, with 38,000 Lancers manufactured from 2006 to 2007, and as a noteworthy high-end manufacturer, Ferrari is calling back 2,800 vehicles. These are all US-market cars. Beyond America, the Japanese Transport Ministry has announced seven million additional vehicles will be recalled, which means 19.6 million vehicles across the globe are affected by recalls announced. The defects have been traced to an insufficiently manufactured airbag inflator, which lacks a drying agent that would prevent the inflators from deteriorating over time. Thirteen deaths have been linked to the faulty airbags, which have become unstable and are prone to exploding and showering vehicle occupants with lethal amounts of metal shrapnel. A private equity firm, KKR & Co., has been named in a possible buyout of the struggling Takata. Destiny: General Motors should bring back Pontiac

Wed, Apr 26 2017

Despite having officially left the market in 2010, the Pontiac badge is still a common sight on roadways throughout the United States. Towards the end of its life, Pontiac models were largely rebadged versions of other General Motors vehicles, like the Pontiac G5 and Chevrolet Cobalt. It's sad, but there's no other way to put it; Pontiac was a mere shadow of its former self at the time of its death. Now it's time to revive the legendary brand. General Motors announced it would be reviving the Redline series, a package that originated with Saturn, another dead brand, earlier this year. Some models, like the Chevrolet Camaro will receive unique cosmetic touches designed to make it look even sportier, something Pontiac excelled at in most cases. Gas prices have fallen dramatically in the past few years and consumers have taken notice. Sales of fuel efficient cars, like hybrids and compact sedans, aren't increasing at the same rate as larger, less efficient vehicles, like trucks and SUVs. Muscle cars, like the Ford Mustang, are seeing increasing sales as well. Perhaps it's time to revive Pontiac and restore the marque to its former glory: a brand that brought performance and style at an affordable price. There are currently few manufacturers that offer a true challenge to high-performance automakers like BMW. The German brand continues to see high sales year after year and performance has a lot to do with it. Brand recognition, namely through the BMW badge, plays a major role as well. Pontiac, arguably one of the most well-known brands to ever grace the industry, can match both factors with ease. Pontiac was once revered as a brand that revolutionized the muscle car segment in the 1970s and 1980s. It still has a lively following throughout enthusiast spheres and amongst drivers of all ages to this day. Reviving the brand with a small line of high-performance vehicles would certainly offer a challenge to dominating German brands. A small lineup of affordable vehicles bearing the Pontiac badge and designed for performance and style would certainly make waves in the current market. Reviving a few older nameplates, such as the GTO and Trans Am, would offer nostalgic appeal. Packing both models with a powerful entry-level engine, say the Camaro's turbocharged four-cylinder or V6 engine, would open up the market considerably.
