1974 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J

Only 35,000 Documented One Owner Miles

Documented Yearly Service History For Many Years

Original and Unmolested

Just Awakened After Many Years of Garage Slumber!

Rare Opportunity............................LOW RESERVE

Greetings to All!! imotors is quite pleased to offer possibly the nicest 1974 Pontiac Grand Prix Available anywhere! 1974 was the Last model year of regular leaded fuel, and NO catalytic converters!!! This one is equipped with the Pontiac 400 4 Barrel V8 with a Turbo Hydramatic 400 transmission, and straight dual exhaust!!! It is nicely equipped with Factory A/C, Power Windows, Power Trunk Release, and an AM/ FM Radio. Buckets and a console make it that much more desirable!!! Pontiac lovers everywhere get weak in the knees when one like this becomes available. A One family owned, always serviced Grand Prix that was apparently treated like one of the family! Examples like this one are unheard of!

This 1974 Pontiac Grand Prix was purchased on August 7, 1974 at Jack Roley Pontiac in Belle Vernon, Pa. It has spent it's entire life in the area, always garaged and pampered by it's original owners in Charleroi, Pa. Purchased as a gift for his loving wife to drive the short distances to the grocery store and church on Sunday. After He passed, it basically was retired to the garage where I found it. It had been sitting, unused since 2001. There are many detailed photos below, along with the last state safety inspection invoice dated December 12, 2001 with 34,936 miles. It had only been driven TWO(2) miles since the previous years inspection in 2000. I have many many years of past invoices documenting the low low mileage that will accompany the car, along with it's original license plate(photo below). We also have all of the owners books, AND the factory issued window sticker listing the many options!

Since awakening, we have replaced the battery, and changed the oil and oil filter(Brad Penn with Zinc). The air filter is also new, along with all 8 A/C spark plugs. We also replaced the radiator, upper and lower hoses, and all three fan belts. The tires were new sometime in 2001, and are a tad on the lumpy side. As I drive the car, they seem to be improving. Replacement is recommended for long distance driving.

This Gorgeous 1974 Grand Prix runs and drives fantastic. I have put close to 100 miles on it. It shifts nice and smooth, and there are no shakes, vibrations, or unpleasant noises!! The A/C blows nice and cold, and is still charged with R12. The front radio speaker is dead, but the rear sounds great. Everything else works as it did in 1974. The Colonial Gold paint is 90% original, as is the Black interior. Chrome and brightwork is gorgeous with no pitting anywhere. There is one small rust blister on the bottom of the passenger front fender. Underneath is as nice as above, with no rust or rot anywhere!!

Remember....They are original only Once!!!

Take a look at the 50 plus photographs below and see the actual pristine condition of this One of A Kind Pontiac Grand Prix.

By bidding you agree to all terms set forth below.

Many Thanks for Your Interest!
Good Luck with Your Bidding!!

Our Colonial Gold Grand Prix was purchased new in August of 1974 at Jack Roley Pontiac in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania

You can tell by the condition of the Original paint that this Beauty was Always Garaged and Pampered!!

There is a small ding in the left rear quarter panel. Paintless dent removal should remove this easily!

The Original Colonial Gold Paint Just Glistens in the sun. Pretty much the same way it did 40 years ago!!  A few minor nicks and scratches from normal usage, but certainly nothing to deter from the Beauty and Originality of This 1 Owner GP!!

Note the absence of pitting.......Simply amazing for a  40 year old car!

In this Photo you can see the last time it was registered and licensed.......Also included is the original license plate that was issued in 1974.

The exterior is in fantastic condition and is certainly commensurate with the low mileage and excellent care our Gorgeous Grand Prix has seen throughout its 40 year life.

Nice and Straight!!!!

No rust bubbles under the vinyl top!!

When was the last time that you saw one this nice and original??

.

Small blister on the passenger fender!

I drove these cars in my youth, as I am sure you did also!!! I had a 1973, and a 1975 when I was in my twenties...a VERY long time ago!

The black pin stripes were painted on at the factory FORTY years ago!!

The front bumper fillers could use paint. I decided to leave it original, and let the new owner decide!!

The chrome front bumper is also free of pitting!

Filler needs painted here also

This is one Gorgeous Grand Prix!!

Gorgeous Wood Trim!

Original GM Mats!

 How Beautiful is that dash??!

Note how clean the jambs are all around!

They are only original once!!!!

Truly a Pampered and Pedigreed Grand Prix!!

I would guess that this is one of the best survivors out there!!

One of Burt Reynolds' favorite cars could be yours

Fri, Apr 12 2019

LOS ANGELES — One of Burt Reynolds' favorite cars is going up for auction in June along with some of his cowboy boots, hats, sports jackets and other items from his estate, Julien's Auctions said on Friday. The two-day auction in Beverly Hills, authorized by the actor's family, comes almost a year after the death at age 82 of the charming star who was one of Hollywood's favorite actors. The highlight of the auction is a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am car that Reynolds used on photo shoots and drove on the Bandit Run cross country rally, which re-enacts the journey at the center of his 1977 film "Smokey and the Bandit." The car, which Reynolds co-owned with his business partner Gene Kennedy, is expected to fetch up to $500,000 at auction, Julien's said in a statement. Two pairs of leather cowboy boots — one red and one yellow — are also offered for sale with estimates ranging from $800 to $2,000 a pair, along with two cowboy hats. Reynolds started out as a football player at Florida State University (FSU) before injuries suffered in a car crash wrecked his hopes of a professional career. But his attachment to FSU remained strong. The auction includes several custom or personalized FSU baseball, basketball and varsity jackets. Other highlights include an oil on canvas painting of the actor's favorite horse titled "Cartouche," which carries an estimate of $20,000 - $30,000. Other art works, furniture and dozens of personal items are also being offered for sale. The auction will take place in Beverly Hills on June 15 and 16, and will be preceded by a public exhibition of some of the items from June 10-14. Reynolds, who was also known for the 1960s television series "Gunsmoke" and the movies "Deliverance" and "Boogie Nights,"" died of a heart attack in Florida in September 2018. Pontiac Aztek rises from the ashes of infamy in Firebird Trans Am guise

Thu, Apr 9 2020

What if the Pontiac Aztek, one of the most widely ridiculed vehicles ever built, was reimagined with a little flair from one of the former brand’s more legendary cars? Well, it turns out that someone not only came up with that idea, but followed up on it. And so, we present to you the Pontiac Aztek Firebird Trans Am, uh, trim package? ItÂ’s not real, of course, but it comes from Abimelec Arellano, an Hermosillo, Mexico-based car designer with too much time on his hands who goes by the name Abimelec Design. Arellano redesigned the midsize SUVÂ’s wimpy front fascia to surprising success by simply adding widened fender flares and perhaps modernizing the headlights. He also went all-in embracing the AztekÂ’s abrupt, flattened rear end by removing the rear bumper lip, adding a slightly more aggressive rear spoiler to boot. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Elsewhere, the dominating and cheap-looking gray plastic under-cladding is gone in favor of body-color panels. Arellano also added some probably larger Pontiac Snowflake wheels with gold accents that really make them pop and play well against the signature Firebird decal dominating the hood. Commenters generally fall into one of two buckets. As one put it, “I never thought the Aztek could look this good.” Others implored Arellano to do a version with a T-top. Or as one Autoblog editor put it, “So it turns out the reason the Aztek was a laughingstock failure is that it didnÂ’t come in a Smokey and the Bandit Edition. Somewhere, a dude who got shouted down in a product-planning meeting years ago is vindicated.” Sold between 2001 and 2005, the Aztek arguably reached the pinnacle of its notoriety as the metaphor for the drab, underachieving life of Walter White in AMCÂ’s meth drama, “Breaking Bad.” It came equipped with a 3.4-liter V6 that made 185 horsepower and sent it through a four-speed automatic to the front wheels, with an all-wheel drive version also available. The Aztek may have the last laugh, especially if it gets a screaming chicken. “The fact it was a controversial design and didnÂ’t sell well will make it an object of curiosity from a historical standpoint many years from now,” McKeel Hagerty, president and CEO of classic-car insurer Hagerty Insurance, told Autoblog back in 2016.

Junkyard Gem: 1987 Pontiac Firebird

Sat, May 9 2020

From 1967 through 2002, the Pontiac Division offered the Firebird, close sibling to the Chevrolet Camaro. By the third generation, which debuted for the 1982 model year, it became more difficult to tell the two F-body cars apart at a glance and the Pontiac-exclusive engines of the earlier years disappeared, but the Firebird still retained its own personality and its own position in the GM marketing hierarchy. I still find the occasional 1982-1992 Camaro as I search car graveyards for interesting stuff, but the corresponding Firebirds have become scarce in recent years. Here's a base-engine-equipped '87, its Bright Red paint (yes, that was the official name for the color) faded by the Colorado sun as it awaits the crusher. Firebird shoppers had their choice of three engines in 1987: A 5.7-liter Chevy V8 (210 hp), a 5.0-liter Chevy V8 (205 hp) and the same 2.8-liter 60° V6 that went into the Fiero and countless front-drive GM sedans (135 hp). This car has the base engine. The third-gen F-body didn't weigh much (3,105 pounds for the '87 with six-banger, about what a 2020 Corolla weighs), so 135 horses was tolerable. Plenty of these cars got T-5 5-speed manual transmissions, but this one got the two-pedal setup. Camaro wheels, of course. Our Friend the Carburetor didn't disappear from new cars until the early 1990s in the United States, though electronic fuel injection had become very commonplace by 1987. Still, GM considered this car's EFI worth a door-handle brag. It's not worth fixing up a mashed six-cylinder third-gen Firebird, so we can see the route this car took to its final parking space.
