For your consideration is a low production inaugural model 1962 Pontiac Grand Prix. In the era it all began, arguably one of the first factory Hot Rods Detroit produced! Equipped with the factory numbers matching block 389 V8 303 H.P. Hydramatic Automatic Transmission, and Safe-T-Track rear, makes this an extremely rare vehicle. Recently installed is a new Tri Power set up, 3 Dueces, or 3 2bbl carburetors. Included in the sale is the original Carburetor, intake, and Air cleaner assembly. This car is virtually a survivor. It has the original interior, and retains all of its original sheet metal, fenders, quarters, floors, & trunk pan and believed to have only been repainted twice over its 52 year history. It also has optional eight-lug aluminum wheels wrapped in four whitewall tires, with the matching spare, jack, & equipment. Engine Block Stamp reads: 962K2357 (389-303 hp Code 16KJ) DATA PLATE: Style 62-2947 Body BK 1376 Trim Interior: 298 (Blue) Paint CC (Cameo Ivory) Finished in
the original color Cameo Ivory and Blue Interior, this Pontiac has a classic
look and stance. The body and frame are rust free, with no visible issues such as
bubbles, cracks, decay, rust. The engine bay shows very well and finished off
to impress. The undercarriage survived all these years to a factory “Ziebart”
undercoating which still presents very nicely. The original interior shows
great with only minimal wear. The headliner has been replaced at some point over the years. There is a small imperfection on the passenger
side seat which is noted in the photos. All of the gauges, lights, turn
signals, etc are operational and appear to be accurate. The dash retains the
factory radio, but inside the glove box houses a new FM/CD player with Aux Jack
to play your favorite tunes. The chrome and stainless all present very well and
consistent with the quality of the vehicle. The car runs very well straight down the road. Free of stereotypical classic car shimmy's, shakes, vibrations, rattles, etc. Accelerates like a Tri Power and brakes as it should. The odometer shows 17,607 miles. The Florida title shows mileage exempt. I cannot verify if those are true miles. But from a visual inspection of the vehicle, the condition does not show of one with 117,607 miles. Even though the Pontiac resembles the Impala’s of the same era, these Grand Prix’s have distinct differences that make them unique and arguably more collectible. Take notice to the Chief head on the speedometer to indicate High Beams. Or the large Tachometer which is mounted right in the middle of the center console. Just a great design from a decade that produced such innovation. This is a turnkey drive immediately enjoy today driver quality classic automobile. Could not build or restore for the asking price. This Pontiac handles great. Drives straight down the road with a comfortable enjoyable ride. Factory Power Steering adds to the drive-ability factor. Whether you’re looking to win a few trophies at car show, a Sunday driver, or take the family for ice cream, this vintage Pontiac can do it all. I encourage & welcome pre purchase inspections. I will work with your inspector, appraiser, mechanic, etc to make you feel comfortable with your purchase. Vehicle is sold AS-IS, NO Warranties Expressed or Implied. In other words, ask your wife first!! $1,000.00 Deposit due within 24 hours of auction close. Balance due within 7 days of auction close. I urge everyone to take a look at my feedback. Bid with confidence! It was 100% until a few weeks ago, when a malicious ebayer left me negative feedback over a $45.00 die cast model car! Apparently, a windshield wiper was damaged in shipping overseas. I attempted to rectify the situation, but the buyer would not respond or contact me at all, and left me negative feedback! AMC Trans Am Javelin SST, an ultra-rare underdog, is up for auction
Sat, Sep 9 2023Among the rarest of the American muscle cars that went racing in the early Seventies — cars including the Camaro Z/28 and the Boss 302 Mustang — the 1970 AMC Trans Am Javelin SST may be the most hard to find, and among the most valuable. Only 100 units of this unique Javelin were produced, and one of them is up for auction at the Mecum event in Dallas on September 20. The Trans Am Javelin was fashioned in a patriotic livery of tricolor paint — red, white and blue — and arrived after the American Motors Corporation had decided in 1968 to compete in the Trans Am racing series against Ford and General Motors. The company's chief driver, Mark Donohue, would dominate the 1971 season, taking seven wins in his Javelin AMX and that yearÂ’s SCCA Trans-Am Championship. AMC took the trophy with 82 points, well ahead of Ford's 61, Chevrolet's 17 and Pontiac's paltry 7. The example listed for auction came equipped with a 390-cubic-inch V-8 engine with 325 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque, power steering and brakes, dual exhaust, BorgWarner four-speed manual transmission and Hurst competition shifter. Its “ram induction system” sealed a chamber around the air filter so that cool air from the functional hood scoop would be funneled into the intake. This JavÂ’s factory price was $3,995 — a mere $32,000 or so in today's money, though it was expensive by the standards of the time. The 100 Trans Ams were among 19,714 Javelin units built in 1970, so they started out rare, and today the surviving examples are highly collectible, if and when they come up for sale. No bid estimate is available yet. Related Video: Motorsports Chevrolet Ford Pontiac Auctions Automotive History Racing Vehicles Classics
Jay Leno tries out a 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge that looks factory fresh
Tue, Jan 31 2017The latest machine to show up on Jay Leno's Garage is arguably the most iconic Pontiac GTO, the 1970 Judge. The example here is a radically red model and features all of the nifty Judge features, such as the mega-size rear wing, hood-mounted tachometer, and ram air hood scoop. The latter of which had a panel in the hood that would open up at full throttle to let in all that cool air from outside. The car is owned by the Wade Kawasaki, president of Coker Tires, a company that specializes in reproducing classic tires. Not surprisingly, his GTO features a set of the company's Firestone Wide Oval tires. That particular tire would have come with the car originally, but these new versions are built like modern radial tires, rather than the slippery bias-ply originals. The tires are indicative of how Kawasaki restored the rest of his Judge. Everything has been taken back to factory-spec. It has a stock, 400-cubic inch V8 that makes a supposedly underrated 366 horsepower, and it's complete with the chrome valve covers and foam intake seal. The tires are accompanied by exact replica GTO Judge wheels. The car even has the true, original interior. Somehow, the upholstery, dash, and other interior components survived in excellent condition. Check out the video above for more details on this flashy muscle car, as well as some reminiscing about the "good ol' days," and some history on the origins of the car's name. Related Video:
MotorWeek's 80's GM muscle coupe roundup includes Regal GN and Monte Carlo SS
Thu, Jan 29 2015Even with just four brands in the family, General Motors still represents a performance powerhouse. Between the Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Camaro Z/28, Cadillac CTS-V and ATS-V, The General can still deliver plenty of thrills. The 1980s, though, saw the brand go even crazier with performance. While the Camaro and Corvette were still around back in the day, GM had a number of other interesting performance offerings. The Bowtie was complemented by the long-deceased Monte Carlo SS, while the now-defunct Pontiac and Oldsmobile offered the Grand Prix and thumping 442, respectively. And Buick, which isn't short on performance with its Regal GS and Verano Turbo, offered a much more serious vehicle, in the form of the Grand National (not to mention the Darth Vader-spec GNX). MotorWeek, in its hugely entertaining retro flashbacks, looks back on these three long-lost GM performance icons, and it's just as good as you might expect.
