2002 Pontiac Grand Prix Se Sedan 4-door 3.1l on 2040-cars
Grandville, Michigan, United States
The Good:
Strong and solid 3100 V6 motor w/ regular oil change maintenance. 182723 miles. Car has not been sitting long, only a week since I replaced it with my new vehicle. AM/FM radio with single CD player. New front end suspension including struts, ball joints, sway bars, bushings, wheel bearings everything lifetime warranty parts Nov 2011. New Alternator Feb 2013 (see pic) New Water Pump & Serpentine Belt March 2013 All plugs & Wires replaced Nov 2011 New battery from Walmart. Very clean roomy and comfortable interior w/ some minor scuffs and chips. No pets, kids. Very clean exterior w/ minor rust and blemishes. Service records available. The Bad: Engine shows typical wear with minor oil leakage. Tires are good for the rest of summer and fall, but may need replacing by winter. Fog lights need to be reconnected with bulbs. Transmission starting to get a little loose. No grinding, but sometimes needs to 'warm up' to shift into 4th gear. (Performs excellent when in gear. ) Ignition key release is sticking a little, but the key easily comes out when depressing the manual release on the steering column. Why I'm selling: I recently downsized to a honda accord because for work I am required to travel and the powerful grand prix was too much car for my needs. It's a very good car. I'm asking $1650 against Kelly Blue Book's $1912 valuation for fair condition. |

NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall
Wed, 13 Mar 2013
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.
GM's got 107 problems and NHTSA's No. 1
Thu, Mar 6 2014General Motors' problems with its recall of roughly 1.6-million vehicles continue to mount. Now that it has emerged that GM knew about the problem since at least 2004 but waited to recall vehicles until February 2014, regulators at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have begun a much deeper investigation. NHTSA has sent a 27-page survey to GM that includes 107 questions about the timeline of what led up to the recall, and it has until April 3 to reply. This isn't a simple, multiple-choice test. Automotive News believes that hundreds of pages could be required to answer some of the queries. NHTSA says that it is still investigating GM's response to the recall. "We are a data-driven organization, and we will take whatever action is appropriate based on where our findings lead us," said NHTSA in a statement on its website. If found liable, the automaker could face a fine as high as $35 million and even possible criminal charges, according to Bloomberg. NHTSA's questions include a detailed explanation of GM's examination process; how it will improve the process; why a planned redesign of the cars' key in 2005 wasn't implemented; and specific data on each complaint it received. According to Bloomberg, NHTSA also has records that show the company had a meeting with regulators to discuss the airbag failure in a Chevrolet Cobalt in 2007. New GM CEO Mary Barra has also hired an outside law firm to conduct an independent investigation about what happened. It will include questioning company employees who were involved with the process from the start. The recall stems from faulty ignition switches that shut off the car while driving, and if it occurs the airbags deactivate. Thirteen deaths and 23 crashes have been caused by the problem, according to Bloomberg. If you would like to peruse NHTSA's entire questionnaire for GM, it can be viewed here. Looking back at Oprah's free-car giveaway 10 years later
Fri, 12 Sep 2014
Oprah kicked off her 19th season in dramatic fashion by giving all 276 members of the studio audience a free car.
Molly Vielweber's Pontiac G6 appears unremarkable at first glance. It wears forest green paint, rolls on five-spoke aluminum wheels, and it has a sizeable scrape in the driver's side door, the scar of a decade's worth of hard use. You wouldn't notice it parked at a big box store or cruising on the highway. Pontiac made hundreds of thousands of G6s in the 2000s, and a lot are still on the road. It's unremarkable in every way except for the front license plate, which reads, "Oprah 6."
